I give 5 stars for what I saw today. Yes I waited in line for 40 minutes but during that 40 min I watched a single clerk treat people with consideration and respect. She was brilliant: one woman was illiterate, then a family wanted a passport for an 18 year old and only the 15 yo spoke English but was not allowed to translate by law, the next guy couldn't fill out his form correctly to mail to Mumbai after multiple tries. And one after another she treated them with courtesy. One after another, seemingly normal adults could not hit the green button then the red button. It was like being in the twilight zone. People that criticize these clerks are mistaken. I wouldn't last an hour doing this job. These clerks are 10x nicer than anyone working in Dulles, with 50x the malarkey. Post master should put in Self-service kiosk but I don't think a lot of people would be able to use it. I wonder how many illiterate or non English people come through there a day. Probably a lot.

Save yourselves! For any services beyond dropping mail in the mailbox, avoid this post office. Terrible customer service abounds. I needed fingerprinting for an FBI CJIS check and was pre-registered. I waited in the main line for 20 minutes before being told to wait out in the lobby, and that I would be called. During that initial 20-minute wait, I observed several customers getting yelled at by post office staff about various things they (the customers) needed to do before they could receive service. Out in the lobby, I waited another 30 minutes before checking back in for an update. Upon that check-in, I was told the one staff member who did fingerprinting was on lunch, and that I should go home because when that person returned from lunch, it would be after the window during which they provide fingerprinting services. Stellar experience.

Visiting here to apply for a passport can be quite the ordeal. They insist you schedule an appointment, but upon arrival, you're told to wait outside, often watching others, seemingly with a mysterious priority, go ahead of you. It's not uncommon to find yourself standing for three hours past your appointment time on an unkempt floor, with not a single chair in sight. The staff, particularly an older woman with a noticeable wig, can be quite difficult to deal with. You might be better off trying to secure an appointment at a different location.

I am not surprised by the low 1.5-star rating of this post office. The place is consistently dirty, disorganized, and the staff, particularly the three ladies, are often mean and rude. It's baffling why they are in customer service if they can't handle it with civility. Every time I try to pick up a package, I encounter their unpleasant attitude. Their treatment of non-English speakers is especially appalling. There is a dire need for staff education and organization, along with a thorough cleaning to address the unpleasant smell upon entry. I hope management takes action to rectify these issues soon.

Today I walked in with my package at hand and pulled the smallest box off the shelf. As I closed it the lady in the farthest desk (Dawn) told me I couldn’t stand there and pack my item. I asked her why, she said it was procedure and I had to go back out. I asked her where it was written, she said at the wall outside. I told her I wasn’t moving that I could go to another location and that I didn’t need her help. (By the way that isn’t the procedure and it’s not on the wall) No one was behind me and other customers saw how unprofessional she was and even mentioned how she’s always been a b… although she was available to help, I got assistance from another young lady next to her who was kind and the transaction took only 30 seconds. This is an insistent in where she need to be mindful of the words she uses, be cautious when using the word procedure and ask how they could help since that isn’t a self service location. My total time there was 4 mins. They will be seeing me more often. The rest of the employees seemed to be relieved that finally someone told her to be professional by the way the all smiled as I spoke to her.

Walk in hours for passports shouldn’t be at the same time People have appointments makes no sense customer service is horrible they scream at you like you are a nobody so disrespectful

Avoid at all costs. Extremely rude staff. Was told WALK IN hours for passports are from 11 am to 12 pm and was refused service because they had appointments. It’s called walk ins for a reason no need for an appointment and shouldn’t be taking appointments within that hour. Absolutely horrendous. Learn some manners too y’all need to be fired asap

In the space of 4 days, the post office delivered mail from 4 different addresses near my address to my home. I got a total of 7 documents that should have been delivered to other addresses nearby. I put 4 of those documents out sticking out the top of my mail box to signify that they were outgoing mail, and the postal delivery person ignored them and gave me 3 more items of misdelivered mail along with 3 items that were properly delivered. It made me deeply sad to think that an institution that is so important and has such an important job is not working. Even worse the particular delivery people involved must care so little about their jobs and delivering mail that they didn't even care to take the misdelivered mail and deliver it properly.

Super slow service. The clerk sitting at the far right station left to sort the mails while there is a really long line of customers waiting to the door. And she was doing it very slowly too. Really bad attitude too. Like she was doing everyone a great service. I appreciate postal worker but not those that make it seems like I should be honored to get service from her.

Do not go here. The middle aged black woman with 90s glasses at the counter took 30 minutes to assist 1 person in line ahead of me. Then when I dropped off my prepaid USPS ground envelope, she claimed they did not accept it. (They did, she was just having a bad day and I had no trouble at the downtown Silver Spring location. Also, I saw mice running around the lobby area. Filthy location.)

Does not even deserve 1 star. Extremely poor customer service. Rude and poor guidance when you ask questions. They make everyone feel like we're bothering them. Why work there if you hate it so much? Who audits these offices, bc some house cleaning or training needs to be provided. Wasted an hour there for them to tell me they don't have labels for express mail... What?! 1, you're a USPS office, what do you mean you ran out of labels. 2, if you ran out, why didn't you put signs anywhere or tell me as much when I told you I'm trying to mail something to be deliver the next day!?

I swear I am so fed up with mail delivery/pick up. I had a stack of outgoing mail with the flag up and our mail person shoves in the new mail and leaves the outgoing mail. Oh but they didn’t forget to put the flag down.

Full of rude unhelpful people. Honestly I have no idea how some of these people even have a job. I went to drop off a package and was told too big for the “Small packages” slot but it clearly fit..by the way she yelled it from across the room..; then I tried to enter the glass and it was locked. THE TIME WAS 5pm and the door were ALREADY locked and closed. I asked can I just leave it on the counter. NOPE wouldn’t move a finger despite sitting in there chatting with her co worker. DO BETTER USPS.

This is only for the rude lady who worked on the day after thanksgiving 11/24/23..... I wanted a reciept for my package to show it was dropped off, when i asked her about a reciept she had an attitude complaining about being the only one there working. FIRST OFF NOBODY MADE YOU GET UP ON COME TO WORK. Do your job or leave FOH took her time on purpose to do a passport but the scan took 20 second. There was a line and i was waiting for 30 MINUTES and she act like she cant hear ppl or dont understand english but shes AFRICAN AMERICAN from pg county who has an attitude like nobody loved her. SHE IS A MISREABLE LONLEY PERSON YOU WILL SEE HER THERE THE SIDE OF HER HEAD IS SHAVED.... JUST BECAUSE YOUR LIFE SUCKZ DONT MEAN YOU TRY TO BRING PPL DOWN WITH YOU, ITS TOO LATE ANYWAY NOBODY WANTS TO PUT A RING ON THAT ?.
