I have been experiencing troubles with my car accelerating uphill and reversing, and was told almost a year ago by my former mechanic that I needed a new transmission (est $4k). I finally went to AAMCO to get a second opinion/ have the work done, only to find out that all I needed was transmission fluid. Imagine driving around for year ruining your transmission because you do not have any fluid, and no one bothered to check it out or properly diagnose the issue (in the past year I've been to Jiffy Lube for an oil change and another mechanic in DC).
