We’ve been taking our dog here for almost two years and our experience has been great. He loves going there and will regularly try to herd us out the door in the morning to take him. The staff is very friendly and clearly care about the dogs. It has outdoor space for the dogs to run around, which is great and not something the first daycare we tried had. Highly recommend.

I frequently bring my dog to daycare at the Dog Stay. When we pull up in the parking lot he gets very excited and starts yelping. He then pulls me to the front door and happily runs down the hall to join the other dogs. When I pick him up he’s happy to see me, but not quite sure he wants to leave. I’m so glad we have the Dog Stay!

I took my dog here today to get his nails trimmed, and they did a good job, but really I am leaving this review because Imani - the person who works the front desk - was so helpful and accommodating and delightful! I hope the folks who run this place know what a valuable employee they have in Imani!!

They take the best care of our very old hound. She loves going and we know she is in great hands.

I have been taking my dog to The Dog Stay for probably a decade. In the past, when our pet sitter was out of town we used them. Then, the last couple of years, after our pet sitter retired, we had used The Dog Stay exclusively. I really liked the previous owners - brothers who loved the dogs and were so easy to work with. Last year the business was purchased and I had thought that the new owners seemed like they were going to be great. They started off with lots of engaging communications, plans etc. Well, there has been staff turnover and my experience today was the worst. I made a reservation many months ago to board my dog for a week for my family vacation. I realized a few days before leaving that my dog's bordatella was due. Thankfully I realized it despite them not sending me the emails or calling me like they usually do to warn me that the vaccine was about to expire. I went to the vet, got the updated shot and pointed out two dermatitis spots on my older dog. The vet shaved the two spots, gave me a cleanser and spray that he said to apply twice a day. Easy peasy. I immediately wrote The Dog Stay to ask them and they told me they couldn't apply a cleanser and spray twice a day. They said I needed to board her at a medical facility. Mind you, I made the bordatella shot appointment with my vet last minute when I realized it was expired by a few days and I did not want to have issues boarding her. So, The Dog Stay cancelled my reservation the day before I was leaving for week long vacation. I was so stressed that they could not accommodate this simple request. It is not contagious -- the vet specifically noted this, I called numerous boarding facilities and they all said they could easily accommodate it. Heck, even if The Dog Stay was like ok but we need to charge you a few bucks extra that would have been ok. NOPE. Instead when I called the office the incredibly rude attendant told me that if I want my dog to be separate from all the others and only get attended to when they could squeeze in time - and she wasn't sure when that would be because they have 40 dogs coming through so she did not know when they would be able to tend to my dog - if I was ok with that maybe the owner would agree. She said she would check with the owner and LITERALLY HUNG UP ON ME. I wrote to the main email and told them I found an alternative boarding situation but that I would like to speak with the owner. The owner still has not called me. It's deeply disappointing to me how this business has made a turn for the worse. But, at least I have found a new place that is even better to care for my sweet girl. I am sorry to say I can no longer recommend The Dog Stay.
EDITED TO ADD REPLY TO THE RESPONSE BELOW + AFTER SPEAKING WITH THE OWNER. I find the response below deeply concerning. I offered to pay extra to apply the topical to the dermatitis. This is a common practice in many boarding facilities -- that was what I intended. Noone at The Dog Stay ever asked for a note from my vet stating that it was not contagious -- I would have asked my vet to provide that. I did say I shouldn't have even said anything about it in exhaustion because I was trying to explain that this is a common occurrence in dogs. I apologize for the confusion there. Also, to clarify, I did not unsubscribe from your emails -- why would I have done that when I made a reservation for my dog? It would not surprise me if it was something with your system as I got a call from The Dog Stay a couple of months ago asking when my dog would be arriving because the facilitly would be closing soon when I had not made a reservation for her. Given the response below and my conversation with you, I find your customer service to be abysmal. I found many other facilities that are cleaner, kinder to their customers, and much easier to work with so I will be patronizing the new one that I was forced to find with just a few hours notice. My dog was not in a crate for the week we were gone - because it wasn't contagious. I would have happily pro

My dog Max was born in 2020. Limited socialization and my constant presence led to his high seperation anxiety. A change in my WFH schedule led to him destroying the house whenever I left for work.
For his safety and my peace of mind, I started taking him to The Dog Stay. I've seen a major improvement in his behavior. I'm no longer the center of his universe. He's more confident and sociable. He also accepts pets from just about everyone. Max used to twirl and/or wiggle away like a cat whenever a stranger or aquaintance tried to pet him.
Max is a happier pup overall, and I'm very grateful for everyone at The Dog Stay for taking such wonderful care of him.

I love this place! The people are very friendly and attentive. They love my dog almost as much as I do. The in-house groomer is excellent. When making a reservation, you can specify your dog's needs and expect them to be met. I've used their boarding services twice since joining after New Year, and I haven't had to worry about my dog's well-being while traveling.

We love the Dog Stay! Our (big) baby, Goose, loves his time there. He is a sensitive buddy and so it speaks VOLUMES that he is excited to go and go back every single time. I appreciate the kind and responsive staff and we are so grateful to be part of the Dog Stay pack!

We have been coming to the dog stay for our sweet Cavalier King Charles Spaniel’s grooming needs for nearly 2 years. The results of his grooming were mediocre but we liked the prices in comparison to the other dog groomers in the area. We scheduled a grooming appointment at 11:30 AM (Opens at 10AM). When my partner arrived with our dog, he was ignored for a few minutes and had to ask someone to attend to him. Then, the person at the desk (who claimed to be the manager) told him there was no groomer available to attend to us. When asking why we were not contacted earlier about the unavailability, the manager replied, “Well, I’m telling you now.” The attitude of the manager and lack of communication about a scheduled appointment is extremely unprofessional. We will not be back and I do not recommend The Dog Stay in Silver Spring.

We have been bringing our dog here since he was 6 months old and he’s almost 4 now. He loves it and it shows by how excited he is to go! We’ve taken him to other doggy daycares and he stops at the door. They treat the dogs like their own. He gets tons of play time and leaves nice and tired from all the fun. I highly recommend the dog stay!

I’d like to echo the other concerns of previous one star reviews. I pet taxied a regular of this location and had the most asinine experience when a more efficient approach was possible as the dog’s owner was on the phone with the front-desk person when I arrived. Here’s to hoping that there’ll be some professional development, a better designed/more visible sign on the Georgia Ave. entry way and more than one phone line so that calls aren’t going to VM when the front-desk is on another call. There are better boarders with better systems all over the Beltway.Update: Great reply but along with better intake protocol, your front-desk personnel need better administrative/customer service training. The person I encountered was smug and condescending on top of everything else. Other service provider’s time is just as valuable as a direct client’s time.
