Quality service, excellent atmosphere. Everything I've requested has been done well. This is a full service hair salon, and that's hard to find. If you're in the Shepherd Park/Takoma/downtown SS area give it a try. Ethiopian roller sets are a lot easier on the hair than Dominican roller sets

I have gone here a lot, but recently it hasn't been well. Customer service could have been better. Came here in the morning once, saw a customer come in way after, and left way before us. And my daughter was still in the heat thing (forgot the name). Prioritized customers who came right after and excused it, saying, "She has longer hair, so it will take more time." Also, I'm not sure what happened, but when my daughter got her hair straightened, they did it very straight and well. But the next time, it wasn't flat at all. Not sure who did her hair the first time, but shes amazing. The vibe and all is okay if you're Ethiopian. But speak up or nothing will be done to fix it. Will be giving this salon another try for goddess braids for my daughter. If its possible to update, I will do that and maybe provide photos.

I have gone to get knotless and flat irons. They both were very well done. There's a lady in there that straightens hair better than anyone else I've been to in the DMV.... not telling you her name cause I don't want her booked and busy when I walk in ? and the best part about this salon is everyone is pleasant. It's a calm no loud talking kinda establishment. Iykyk

I had a good experience on my initial visit. However, the next time I went in on time for my appointment, I waited over an hour to even start. I was asked to move from my seat, and back to the waiting area several times because a man who had an appointment was on the way - so I sat and waited with my hair undone. Later, I was asked to move seats again for another customer. I spent more than 6 hours there and there was no apology or concern for my day and its plans. Very disappointing.

I’m a returning costumer I’ve been coming here for about 2 years. The service is great, braids are awesome. A red flag I noticed right away is being given a certain price and when it’s time to pay the owner says a different price. Yesterday I came in and was getting my hair done the same thing happened. I was quoted 200-220 for the style I wanted ( I get this style every single time I come the only difference I wanted curly hair added to my braids . The size and everything was absolutely the same ) The owner then told me $300. I ended up not getting hair added and paid 260 for braids that I pay 180-190 for whenever I come. It wouldn’t be a problem if I got what I wanted and paid that kind of money fr it, but to scam / over charge me is INSANE! WILL NEVER RETURN & I will NEVER recommend ANY ONE HERE. *HONEST REVIEW*

I came in today requesting a simple style with cornrows in the front and box braids at the back. The braider could not execute the style. Several times throughout the process I asked if she was doing my hair style and had to remind her how the style looked. She made the front sections too small for cornrows to fall flat. She said that could sew them to make everything look fine. I trusted her expertise but that was unwise. Upon noticing that my hairstyle did not match the picture I showed, I asked to fix it so it matched the style or to adjust the price. The braider tried to fix it, but her skill level was not up to pair. At the end they charged me $200 for the hairstyle which I said was excessive and aggressive given that I was quoted originally $150-170. Despite it all I still gave a tip to the braider because she tried. However the manager of this shop is horrible, when your service is not up to par or if you have unskilled labor trying to do a task they are not prepared for, you should discount the price. My service and experience at this shop was horrible. I’ve been here before but it’s a hit or miss, they only can do box braids good. Not all the staff or equal or capable. I will never return again to this shop given the lack of customer service and unskilled work on my hair.

Avoid for crotchet styles that are complicated. I saw a finished customers hairstyle but she had locks. I bought curly hair and their response is "this is different hair". They do not speak English well so it is hard to communicate. They later blamed me for not understanding. Meme was condescending, I told her I want the style to look natural and not like a helmet or simba. Her response was "it is fake hair, it will look fake". I thought this was a real salon but it is just individuals from another country doing hair. I asked them to shape the hair to my face they did not know what I was talking about. I asked for layers they again could not understand. They literally just hooked the hair in and that was it for 150 dollars. I look like Simba. I offered to buy a different type of hair they were comfortable with and they were silent did not understand so I continued with my current selection. I told them full as she showed my head with visible cornrows and asked was this satisfactory. Meme was disrespectful and if she knew English I would have got her together but it was like talking to a wall. She offered to remove rows but I would see my cornrows, she offered to cut short but I would still have wide hair. Full does not need to mean I am looking like Simba. Left unsatisfied they did not offer to fix or provide a solution. I asked before I left this review. Meme also said nobody is unsatisfied but me. She said "customer choose hair and you chose wrong" said I am unhappy with the hair I chose. If you go to their Instagram and google page they do not have Crotchet styles and I asked to see pictures. I wonder why none are posted if they have been doing them for years and are experienced.
The person speaking on the phone told me their name was meme. I am speaking on the person taking money and directing people to seats. Working on my hair we could not communicate the entire time due to the language barrier.

I am fortunate to have Ms. Maky Kebede as my hair stylist for several years! She is very knowledgeable about different kind of hair and have the best advice how to take care of your hair! She is very professional and updated with the current hair styles and honest in her opinion to meet your final results after treatment, hair color or styles of your choice! Maky us very polite , and a kind person with high quality work! Thank you Maky for making my trip to hair salon more enjoyable and pleased with the hair style!
