I called asking to email my forms and the lady Miriam said she was busy, she worked 10 hours the past 2 days and that I must wait because there’s only 14 people working in this company. This is sad. And unprofessional

Don't go there. Only for Pakistan is and Sikhs. They won't email you the PDF tax file even when you ask them multiple times. Very unprofessional.

My experience working with Shafique Kahn the last couple of years has been wonderful. He has a nice balance of professionalism and friendliness. I'm also taking my elderly, disabled friend to have her taxes done by him. He has gone above and beyond to help her understand and navigate benefits she is eligible for.

very poorly managed. I was referred to the place by a friend who works in another office, however the experience was not worth the bucks. Despite claiming years of experience, no significant input was added to have additional savings, and employee's didn't have much knowledge except for one person (who himself was busy with other customers & took his time to respond for us to progress).The team was hasty to submit the returns without even disclosing the fee till the last minute and guilt tripping the client into paying, as they had it almost done.One of the business filings were submitted even without me completing my input, and the personal tax filing wasn't even shown to me before submitting (with no effort to save any dollars except for the points I had shared with them). Most unique idea by the team was to not round-off numbers for personal expense items and that's it.For the amount charged, there are definitely better consultants out there (which I overlooked because of reference) who try to understand the whole scenario and find genuine ways to save your tax dollars (for which they are being paid)

Their customer service is terrible. There is a lady called Mariam she doesn’t know how to talk to the customers. My husband asked her a simple question and she replied saying “this is not a dentist office” this is unacceptable!

Have you ever heard someone say "you don't know what you don't know"? They were describing Darcy, who I was unfortunate to have work on my taxes this year. First of all you won't even get an estimate of cost until the work is done. Mine was $650 which was twice what another firm charged just 3 years ago. Darcy billed by the form and surprise! my tax package was twice as thick as it ever has been and my tax situation hasn't changed. The weirdest issue was that I never lived in DC but had DC taxes mistakenly taken out. She attempted to claim that I lived in DC for one day, which resulted in DC wrongly getting $3,000 and Virginia being shorted $3,000. She called this a "workaround". That smelled of future audit to me but she claimed it was totally legal. I think I'm going to contact Richmond about that one. Then when she sent the package for me to mail to DC, she didn't read the instructions and neglected to have me attach certain forms. This got rejected by DC of course and she told me "I have never mailed in DC tax forms" so she didn't know! You are on Yelp to make a good decision, learn from my bad experience and steer clear of JMU!

It is not that Jmu tax what it was before. Deprived service, not responsive. They've lost their gem Russell, who did my taxes last three years with excellence. I didn't know he left, and went to do my taxes and got horrible experience. So this was my last year and probably for my friends & families.

The absolute worst tax filing experience I have ever had. My instructions on how to file my tax were blatantly disregarded even after I had given specific WRITTEN instructions. I usually use a self-filing software such as TurboTax or H&R Block but I decided to try my luck out this year with a professional accountant and was reccomended this company by a family member. The accountant(Shaffin Hossain) blatantly disregarded my instructions on how to file my tax, even after I had provided CLEAR, and WRITTEN instructions. After I emailed for an explanation and asked for a phone call to discuss my return and the potential mistakes he had made on the form, I received no response. I needed to file an amended return but after three unanswered emails, I still have not gotten A SINGLE response. Take great caution before choosing this accounting firm!

This is for Edward. I don’t think he has enough knowledge about tax Cz whenever I ask him something about tax “ I don’t know “ & “ I think so yah” that’s the exact two responses I get. I went their office and filled tax return on 21 February and sign the paperwork and everything with Edward. A week later when I was trying to check my refund status on irs website it was saying my information didn’t match. I called Edward and he said “ oh Someone forgot to e-file for you”. It’s not someone, it’s you Cz you were my accountant. Then a week later I checked again on IRS website about the refund status but it was still saying information didn’t match. I called him again he said he already e filed for me and IRS is pretty backed up this year so it might take couple of more weeks to see the status on website. Then I went to their office again to make sure everything was okay with my filing. I found out he put my last name as my first and first name as my last. I don’t want to be mean but that’s the dummest thing an accountant can make a mistake of when I handed him over my driver license when he was filling up the application. Anyway long story short. My tax file was actually filed on March 14 (it supposed to be February 21)the day I went to office again to check everything was okay. If I was not going their on March 14th then I couldn’t find out about the issue in my tax filing. But Mr Shafin is awesome, he is a great guy. I’d highly recommend to work with Mr Shafin and I’ll never want Edward to make my tax file again.

This is the third year using JMU tax and financial just this time I came to the Gainesville office with Darcy C Farley I called to make an appointment yes I get there a couple minutes early she comes out takes me in we start the process I start talking giving her information and she rudely says to me she knows every form and I better have all my paperwork of else she will not be performing my return so I keep quiet and answer yes no questions 10 minutes later she informed me that there's an issue that she couldn't seem to figure out do she says I'm going to wait for my colleague for help you go sit out there and wait I have many other things to do right now I don't appreciate her tone and rudeness so I go out and wait 20 minutes later she calls me back in and shows me the printed paper of my return she's like I need you to sign here so I ask what was the issue with my return is everything ok?? She admitted it was something she hadn't click on but it was good so then she proceeded to ask for payment of service and when she told me the amount it was so high as to my understanding being a return loyal customer what the fee has been so she got mad asked me to pay and get out of her office that some tax preparers can do that but she will only take what the computers dictates at this point she is screaming at me I said i am not happy with your services and rudeness and I was there with my 9 years old daughter who was wondering the same thing why we got treated like this

My husband called In today to ask some questions. Was planning on getting our taxes done there. Worst attitude ever. Worst representation. I wouldn't recommend this place. Never felt so uncomfortable with the attitude this lady gave us. Please don't EVER tell us you have another person on the other line when I'm over here trying to get you some business. Apparently they do not like new clients. I DONT RECOMMEND THEM. Sorry. Very disrespectful on their part.

JMU Tax has facilitated my taxes for the past 8 years. I appreciate Mickey and his team. I was assisted by Caleb. He was great, fast and has great attention to detail. I not only got my taxes done, but every time I go there I walk out with a wealth of information that directly benefits me and my financial future. I wouldnt go anywhere else.
