This organization used to be my go-to after spring cleaning. Mind you I never donate garbage it's all sellable, useable items. The fact that they come to your home and pick up the items is a huge plus and I recommended them to multiple friends. The last three times I've donated they have picked through the items and left almost half behind each time. The last two donations had brand new unopened items in the mix that they left behind, I don't understand this. This will probably be my last time using them which is a shame because Goodwill overprices things.

If you ever plan to use one of those donation centers that pick up, Vietnam Veterans of America is not a good one to use. 2 days in a row they never showed up. First day they said the truck broke down. Ok fine. Second day they said they were on the way and then I got a call at 7pish saying the truck is full so he's not coming (2 hrs after the window timeframe of up to 5p for pick up). disappointed in them.

I've called this place several times to get off mailing list. (Please use Salvation Army to donate they actually help people.) I called Vietnam Veterans & they have nothing to do with this place They only have Vietnam vet members. I called this place & was told they buy lists & put all on, not just vets, hoping they will all donate. An honest person as we have no connection to Vietnam. He Army: Germany 3 yrs. This place sells it from their thrift stores not veterans. Last time they added "or current resident". How does that get me off this scam list.I sent to States Attorneys for Illinois & Maryland let them sort it.

The last time I scheduled a pickup they were no shows. This time I received an email saying they canceled my pickup. I carried 4 boxes of books, 4 bags of clothes, and 1 bag of misc. in and out twice, for no reason. I will never use this organization again.

NEVER AGAIN!!After receiving a postcard from VVA, stating they had an "urgent" need for clothing and household goods, I decided to donate.Rescheduled pick up twice because of their failure to show up.Today was the 3rd NO SHOW and final straw for VVA!This is an atrocious organization, who gives only 20% of proceeds to actual veterans.Scam operation with little benefit for veterans!!Please donate to other, more reputable organizations!

I write this with a heavy heart. Due to the amount of trust I had in VVA prior to COVID. I am a disabled combat female veteran who struggled with medical negligence and cover-up while in service. In 2019, I was notified from the attorney who was working on a different appeal for me with the VA that she came across an claim for hysterectomy and pregnancy issues that had been denied previously and had this law firm that wanted permission to take over. Bergmann and Moore did, and had the VA remand their 2005 decision. The remand was finished, all documents were sent, and faxed. The attorney for the VVA assigned. On numerous occasions the local VVA was contacted with no return phone calls or returned messages. So I emailed or Messaged the VVA Facebook page, 1st time on 12/21/21 explaining my situation. They responded back and gave me Seattle's representatives supervisor whom I did email and he did call me, Telling me Jeannie would call me the next day and she never did! I have provided photos of the emails to VVA but to close up this review, The attorney whom my case was assigned decided to not submit a Supplemental form after me notifying him that the rating % was not correct, and then continued to blow me off, see photos, and then his supervisor, managing attorney, instead of reviewing the doctors statement of full hysterectomy with double oomphectomy, just regurgitated what the VA stated in their explanation. And here I am explaining to her what I Already knew I have no ovaries! This email was in October 2022. After waiting several weeks later with no response from Ms. Corsey, I sent another email asking for status. Around this time I sent another email to the Seattle office with the headline I'm F'ing fed up. I guess I ruffled that minions feathers cause boy she tried. I cuss after Months of Bullcrap you expect me to be nice? Really. The lies, the manipulation, the gaslighting went on with now, Mr. Ghezzi, Corsey and Ebert was now just a bystander sending the email to someone, and miraculously those gaslighting emails disappeared but not the ones I have here. Mr. Ghezzi and Corsey miraculously find a piece of information that suddenly proves I have no ovaries, and after 5 months of requesting someone to ACT on my behalf from my VSO. They claimed Ebert had a family emergency, and I got reprimanded and schooled on how hard that individual worked and even provided numbers as if this would change my mind how I was feeling. Then Corsey sent an email that is miraculously missing gaslighting me some more, as if being disabled is secondary to being Stupid. Trying to explain how the process works. Well. I received the paperwork she drafted and sent. Of course her ego had to be stroked as if she birthed the medical records over night. Something told me I was in for a long haul due to the way this was handled. I haven't received the paperwork yet, but VA now has an app and when you go to profile you can see a list of all your disabilities (ALL) including non service connected. This weekend I checked it and on my list I noticed the VA updated the rating to show the right percentage, however, because Millington did not submit the paperwork on time, then Ms. Corsey went right along with the same lackluster attitude Mr. Millington had, the 60 days to submit the information had passed. So they had no choice but to put it in as a new claim. The whole time. They were more invested in my words to their ego than doing their job, they were more worried about their reputation so they tried to project my disrespect as if I had no right. The proof is in the outcome. Months and months went by, cover up and lies. Thousands of dollars and all I get is more smoke and mirrors. I guess accountability is not a thing if you have a title and a number. Like I said prior to 2020 I was given rave reviews. Because they were so helpful. I pray no other veteran will experience this. They shattered my peace of mind. It's been one bad experience after another having to trust in folks who could care less about you. I'm a believer in

I want to tell you, your friends and neighbors about how fast and easy it is to donate to Veterans of America -- just schedule a free donation pickup. You even get a tax deduction receipt, just like I did! This is a terrific cause, helping Veterans and parting with some of your things you don't need anymore. They come to your home, it's fast easy and it's all done on line.

Scheduled pickup 4 times. 1st day, driver says nothing is labeled VVA. Every item was labeled VVA.2nd day, driver wants to pick and choose what he loads on the truck. He was extremely rude. Left furniture behind. he said "if that's a problem I'll just unload the whole truck." Described the interaction to the main office number, they said that's not supposed to happen and scheduled furniture pick up for the next day.3rd day, no one showed and no one called. I called the office less than 40 minutes prior to their final pick up time and was told driver still has 15 stops to make and will not make it to my address. 4th pick up....Rescheduled for tomorrow. not putting any money on it.Sad to say, very poorly run operation. I will never use this charity again. Have never had a problem with Purple Heart. (they were unfortunately booked this week)

According to BBB they donate only 25% of their revenue to Veterans' projects. 69% goes to fundraising expenses and 6% to administrative costs. If you are just looking to unload junk from your house, they may serve your purposes but if you are looking to do some good to other people you can pick a better charity

Hubby and I had made arrangements to drop off clothing and goods for the Veterans. As a military family, that is something we commit to doing. multiple times during the year. They accept clothing, shoes, clean mattresses, pillows, bedding sets, furniture, small appliances, etc. The only issue we had was during drop off. There were two representatives inside the building as we were calling to ask questions. However, no one answered the phone. We had to figure out where the drop box was located since our GPS continued to bring us to the wrong location.
