I am a startup 1 member LLC and George Dines was recommended by the DC WBC. Compro Tax has a believable website. I should have followed my instinct to move on when out of nowhere Dines stated: "I swear by tequila" and laughed. He professed to be someone who is passionate about helping female small business owners and helping his "wife" with her business. So, I chalked up his weird comment to being socially awkward. My return was incredibly straight forward very low revenue due to being a micro startup (during COVID-19) and I provided Dines with my P&L statement, balance sheet, all my financial documents were in order. He received all my documents through a client portal which allayed my apprehensions of his initial unprofessionalism. But, then his estimation of my tax return was $5k off from my previous return. I mentioned this as a concern and he requested to see my previous year's return. Once I submitted my prev yrs return he came back with the correct return. So I HELPED HIM DO MY TAXES? When I asked why he said "Oh, I forgot to take the EIC off default" even though we discussed EIC extensively. Dines is CONDESCENDING he said "Look, I know you're trying to start a business but..." I responded I DO HAVEA BUSINESS (****** I provided all my financial documents, he used my last yrs return and overcharged me $600.00 and pretended to give me a phony discount charging me $500. After receiving his payment, he NEVER went over the return with me, never provided a physical copy and I received a letter from the IRS stating they couldn't confirm my identity. I called him in May regarding some questions about my return. HE NEVER CALLED ME BACK. NEVER RETURNED MY TEXT or EMAILS. I paid him to file my taxes electronically and to receive my return via DIRECT DEPOSIT. I RECEIVED A PAPER CHECK. George Dines is a CON ARTIST.
