I have loved going to Azar for nearly 10 years! This year I made an appointment that was set for July 17th at 240 pm. I even called and verified this 3 weeks before my appointment. Today, 5 days before the appointment, I get a call that says my appointment is at 1245. I immediately call them and get told it's not at 240 that it's at 1245 and they can't help me and that I would need to reschedule.Their next available appointment is in 2025! Guess I'll never go back there again! I am required to give minimum 3 weeks notice of time request off! I know I made the appoint for 240 because it allows me to get off at 2, drive over there, and not be late! Azar, you have lost a loyal patient!

My children have been seen here for a few years. Everyone is always super nice and happy to see them. The doctor explains everything and answers any questions we have. The office is always clean. The wait is a bit long, but the staff is always busy. I wish they worked with more insurances, but they offer discounts when paying out of pocket

Dr Filipov is fantastic. However the checkout process is broken. When checking out I asked for my new prescription. The clerk stated it did not print out at her printer and told me to go out to where they sell the glasses and ask "anyone" by a desk to check to see if my prescription was on one of their printers! Excuse me, what is the problem of getting out of your chair, find the prescription, and taking care of the patient? Instead you tell the patient to go "find" his/her prescription by wandering around and ask "anyone" in the sales department to see if they have my prescription. I asked why my prescription could not be printed at "her" printer and she said that sometimes it prints at her machine, sometimes it doesn't. So her solution is to tell the patient to go elsewhere to try and find the prescription. Not smart and lazy. NOT A GOOD exit/checkout for an otherwise great organization.

My annual visit was scheduled, by myself, at my last exam in Feb. 2023 with next appt for March 2024. Dr. Gallagher's staff left a pleasant message on my voicemail in January changing my March appt to an appt that obviously suited Dr. G better, for April 2. A time that I would not have chosen. I had injured myself 2 weeks prior to the new date and was moving a little slower in recent days. I work and took a break to get to the appointment. The morning was rainy and I ventured to Azars office. I realized I was running a bit late so I called twice to let them know. Both times I got voicemail as I drove. I arrived at the check in desk 13 minutes late. I immediately apologized to Marge, who so kindly told me that she would need to ask Dr. G if I could still be seen. She returned saying that Dr. G had full offices and I would need to reschedule. It's now 10:34 a m. My appt was at 10:20.
I know I was late but rescheduling was months out and I had driven 45 minutes each way, in the rain, feeling as if my time was not valuable, since he could not see me on my original date. Sad. I really liked Azars office!

Outstanding facility. We brought my bed ridden brother here for an eye exam. They couldn't have been more accommodating to his special needs. From the minute he entered the door, to the exam, to picking out his glasses, everyone was professional and caring. I highly recommend Azar Eye Institute!

Just OK. Direct care professionals have been relatively good in my experience. However, my doctor told me to get glasses with the Rx given, then come back to have that double checked. With most insurances, lenses and frames are once annually. Why can the doctor not get the Rx right the first time? Especially when an appointment seems to take upwards of 3 hours? Why does this require two separate visits? In another experience, my disabled partner waited hours to be seen. She was left alone in an exam room, with no one checking on her or providing updates on expectations. I witnessed other patients with long wait times as well and other visits have been equally time consuming, so it does not appear a unique experience. Optical is hit and miss; I've dealt with cold and rude personnel and very friendly. Seems like they judge you for your insurance and buying power in Optical. Front desk is also hit and miss. I've witnessed incredibly rude, dismissive and very compassionate, understanding behavior in the same visit. However, the wait times are astronomical and the check in process is very confusing. Seems they could benefit from some changes in scheduling and streamlining. Appointments have no business taking such time. Definitely in need of some changes and training for accessibility too. I understand that healthcare is especially hard hit in regards to staffing in recent years. Making changes and improving scheduling is a larger challenge than previously. Hopefully it can be improved upon. Azar is a long time decent provider of care for what's available on the Shore, but I do not remember the experience being nearly as lukewarm in prior years. Hopefully they will step up standards for their patients' benefit.
