I highly recommend the School of Music. My teen daughter's guitar teacher, Kevin Mittleman, is atalented, creative and flexible teacher, which she needs because, although she wants to learn guitar, she has adhd, and I think would have quit if forced to learn by rote. He also has a pleasant, mild manner and listens with attention to her enthusiastic band talk. On an administrative note, the website is convenient for getting started, but Kevin has always been timely in his responses to my questions and requests. The School of Music is located on the second floor Sunshine Square; do not be put off by the rust stains on the metal stairs; they have been that way for many, many years. I don't know why Sushine Square can't seem to fix the problem, but the School of Music interior is clean and professional, if unremarkable. A bonus is that Duck Donuts is nearby and when you get out of the car it smells like fresh donuts!

Have been taking piano lessons with Connie for at least six years. She's great and I love her flexibility in allowing me to learn the songs I want to learn and at my own pace. She also introduces some theory, finger positioning and other techniques that help me learn. Prior to Covid there was always someone at the front desk to talk with while waiting for lessons. I'm not sure if they stopped that completely or just at the times I come for my lesson. Lesson prices are very reasonable.

The instructors are very friendly and expert. My son have had two different piano teachers and they are great. I also love the way that they do make up for the missing sessions.

My daughter has been taken music lessons at The School of Music for almost 10 years. She started with ukulele and later switched to guitar. He allows her to choose some of the pieces of music that she wants to learn. Playing guitar and ukulele is her hobby and stress relief outlet. Kevin makes it fun for her to enjoy learning music every day.

I have been an adult guitar student at The School of Music for many years. My teacher, Kevin, is the owner and is also an awesome musician and instructor. During my time as a student I have progressed from learning simple chords on a nylon string guitar to playing lead melodies on an electric guitar. Overall I have found the School to be a supportive and welcoming community and an enriching part of my life, while pushing me outside my comfort zone.

Our son has been attending The School of Music for 10 years now. He started with the ukulele when he was 4 years old, and then switched to the guitar as he grew bigger. When he was 5, he spread joy to hundreds of guests at my sister's wedding when he performed "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on his ukulele. The gift he received from The School of Music has allowed him to continue to participate in events, enriching his life and sharing love through music to those around him.My husband and I are not musicians, and so we completely attribute our son's passion to what he has soaked up at The School of Music. Kevin is not only the most incredible guitar player, he knows how to tune into our son's soul. Whether it is bends in rock, strum patterns in folk, fingerpicking in classical, or improvisation in jazz, Kevin has moved with our son's interests throughout the years. Our son's sense of wonder in playing the guitar has only grown because of Kevin. The School of Music has truly been the gift of a lifetime for our son, as we can see the peace he feels when he plays the guitar, and we are confident the joy of music he received from Kevin will carry him safely through life's most tumultuous times.

I went in for an initial guitar lesson, followed by a set of 4 lessons. I really enjoyed working with Kevin he really seemed invested and showed me several different ways to learn chords which was great because different learning styles click with different people. When I decided after my 5 lessons that I didn't have the time to dedicate to learning an instrument right now I was nervous I would be pressured into continuing but that wasn't the case at all, Kevin was so nice and understanding. Once I'm able to dedicate more time to this I will definitely reach out again. Highly recommend!

Kevin and Glenn are super friendly, competent, and talented teachers and musicians. Their lessons are low stress and fun, and I’ve progressed to being able to jam with other musicians, which is the best.

My kids really like the teachers here and seem to enjoy going to their lessons. I would give this place 5 Stars, but I have had difficulty with the management of our payments. Other than that, it is good.
