I LOVE this place! Deji went the extra mile to ensure that I had the most comfortable shoes while supporting my Achilles. I'm so happy!

My most recent visit to RnJ was yesterday. Francisco helped me pick out shoes. Maybe in part because I was the only customer in the store, it was absolutely beyond a doubt the best experience I've had buying shoes, and I'm wondering if it might have been my best experience buying *anything*.He listened as I told him about the knee pain I'd been having. After measuring my feet, he observed how my feet pronate when walking in socks. He brought out 3 shoes just for sizing, one too small, one too large, one just right. He observed my gait in a shoes chosen purely for their diagnostic value. He then observed my gait when wearing a sequence of shoes with progressively more support, until we settled on the perfect shoe.He listened to and answered every one of my many questions, like what's the deal with people walking and even running with soles so thin they're practically barefoot, what is the consequence of the two feet being a half a size different, what is the difference between Asics and Brooks, what if I wear orthotics with the shoes I was buying, what are the chances of my also finding a shoe in their "50% off" room that would work with my feet. What makes for a difficult or tedious customer interaction? And so on. I have a way of driving people nuts with incessant questions. This man's reserve of patience never bottomed out. This store was recommended to me about a decade ago by a physical therapist for obtaining good walking shoes to help a tendonitis that caused the inside of one foot to be red and swollen, and made every step painful. RnJ picked a shoe for me, and (hard to believe but true), in basically 24 hours the pain was gone, and whatever it was that caused it has been gone ever since.Over the years I had grown more and more lax about what shoes I wear, and lately was wearing Sketchers that I had found in a thrift store, that looked virtually new and were very comfortable. Plus, for a stupid reason, I had stopped alternating them with my good Brooks shoes. Knee swelling & pain a week or so ago were my wake up call. I went back to my Brooks from RnJ and the pain subsided. When it was gone completely, I went to buy new shoes. There was no question in the world which store I would go to.

Super friendly and helpful staff and a great selection of clearance shoes. Great store for runners and tennis players alike.

Don’t stand behind their products. Great service so you buy their expensive shoes, but then awful if there are any issues. They sold me a defective pair and they would not take them back or exchange them after barely 1 month.Response to Mr. Chen:I expressly purchased these shoes for Zumba and told your salesperson this. At no point did he deter me from buying the shoes. At no point did he say any of what you have written.Again, this store will sell you shoes and apparently not tell you that the shoes will not work for the purpose you have described. I wore these shoes 3 times only indoors and there is no sole. They were purchased Dec 1st, I went back to your store on Jan 5th. Some understanding has to be given for the holidays as I am sure your store had diminished hours. I spent almost $200 on useless shoes that I wore 3 times.Again, awful customer service after you’ve bought their overpriced shoes.

Their staff are helpful, patient, and friendly. I had Alex help me several times and he's a pro. While the selection is not as big as another running store in the Rockville area, RnJ Sports has earned me as a loyal customer!

My foot doctor recommended that I try RnJ for my difficult-to-fit feet. They immediately dedicated themselves to finding the ideal pair of shoes for my needs (not just a shoe that fit). It was one of my best retail experiences, ever -- not just buying shoes, but buying anything. (And they had a great selection of shoe brands, too.)

We have always had the most positive experiences at R&J! It's the only place we go for our athletic footwear. They know what they are doing and they are so respectful and PATIENT!

On my recent visit to RnJ Sports Store at approximately 12:00, I had the misfortune of encountering an employee named Ray, and the experience was far from satisfactory. I went to the store to try on shoes specifically recommended by my doctor due to ongoing knee problems. However, my interaction with Ray was marred by his consistently rude and unprofessional behavior. Not only did Ray display a negative attitude throughout our interaction, but his actions made me feel genuinely unsafe and angry. His lack of respect and customer service skills left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. I believe that such behavior from an employee is entirely unacceptable. It’s unfortunate that he’s part of the management team.I would strongly advise potential customers to reconsider visiting RnJ Sports Store, as my experience with Ray raises serious concerns about the quality of service and treatment you can expect. It's essential to prioritize customer respect and professionalism in any establishment, and unfortunately, this was severely lacking during my visit. I sincerely hope the management addresses this issue promptly to ensure a better shopping experience for others in the future.

I've purchased my last two pairs of running shoes from this store. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. They also offer a fantastic range of running apparel. However, during my recent visit on a scorching 98°F day, I walked in wearing sandals, fully intending to buy a new pair of running shoes since mine had exceeded 300 miles. Unfortunately, I didn't have socks to try on the shoes, and the employee informed me that I could purchase a pair, but they were only available in the $17 range. In comparison, other running shoe stores I've been to offer the option to buy socks or provide a communal basket of socks, sometimes with a discount if you purchase shoes. Regrettably, this store lacks a communal sock basket. As a result, I spotted the shoes I liked on their wall but ultimately purchased them at REI instead. While I wanted to support this local business, the inconvenience of having to buy a $17 pair of socks just to try on the shoes made it impractical especially since I own so many pairs of running socks already, and didn’t want to acquire another pair at that price point. I understand that they are concerned with hygiene, but if the customer isn’t concerned about using a communal sock then it should be the customers decision to make.

I have been coming here for years now and recommended it to all my friends and family if they needed sneakers. Today I went for a fitting with Ray. He is very chatty and a fitting that shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes extends to 1.5 hours —at this point I have a headache and I’ve been away from work for too long but I don’t want to be rude. In the end I was left with three options and I wanted to go home to get back to work and read more about the shoes/reviews to fully decide. However, he got very angry that I didn’t buy anything from him and told me I just waisted his time and that this is not a “public library that I can come here to browse”. I expressed how uncomfortable I was and that I had every intention to come back, but I didn’t realize that I was forced to choose a shoe right now. It wasn’t busy and there was no line in the store but he said I took away from other customers (even though there were 4 other people on the floor working there).Ultimately, if you come here make sure you know there will be pressure to buying something on the spot and if you are indecisive like me, it might not be a safe or comfortable place to go to.I would recommend that the store hold specific shoe fitting times so you aren’t rude to customers or pressuring customers to make a purchase that they don’t feel confident about.

I have plantar fasciitis. My doctor told me I need more supportive shoes. After I did some research online, I walked in RnJ yesterday to try shoes. I was ready to pay over $150 to get a pair of Hoka. Ray told me I don't need a pair of new shoes. Initially I suspected. After Ray explained to me, I was totally convinced. I work in medical field; I thought I knew enough about plantar fasciitis. However, when it comes to each part of the foot movement interacting with different type of shoes during different activity, Ray's knowledge is beyond anyone I know. He also patiently taught me the exercise I should do at home. Eventually he suggested a pair of inserts and said "You don't have to buy them. If you consistently do the exercise, you should be fine." I eventually bought the inserts to use. My heel pain and my hip pain secondary to plantar fasciitis are much better today. I would give 10 if I could.

Outstanding selection and service. Bought some walking shoes there this week; their fit specialist Kelvin really knows his stuff. He spent an hour making sure I got precisely what I needed to make the foot pain go away. Success ! He was pleasantly relentless in finding walking shoes that me fit precisely right (in my case, Brooks). Highly recommend R & J (which I've used for years) & Kelvin. His patience & knowledge were the best . PS: then he took care of my wife too ! Likewise she was delighted

Really wanted to love this place and shop local. Ordered a pair of shoes over 2 weeks ago and they were prepaid for. Called the place, the person on the phone couldn't find it so I asked to speak to a manager. Person who came on wasn't manager, which isn't a big deal, but no one can tell me anything except to call back on Tuesday. I literally can't even get a refund until Tuesday, which at that point, will be over 3 weeks since the shoes are ordered. Look, try the shoes on there and just buy them on Amazon, which is what I am going to do. No one could tell me anything, one person can't even find out how to look up an order, I had to explain it to both of the people I spoke to. Don't waste your time going here when road runner sports is just up the street. Save your time and your sanity!
