I came in 2018 or so after some major life changes like my dad died, wedding, new apartment, then a car accident left me severely injured. So I was on a lot of medications which included opioids and somehow was prescribed another Benzo by pain management. Those medications were never properly tapered off. And in December of 2017, I was ripped off several psych meds by another doctor before I even saw Kehr. I have the records. So when I ended up at Kehr's office I'm guessing I looked mentally ill. My husband at the time was abusive as well and no one picked up on that.
So, I have not worked in over 6 years. I would also like to bring up the fact that Latuda is for “bipolar 1 depression”. I don’t have bipolar 1 and the “bipolar 2” diagnosis is in my opinion is a misdiagnosis. I’ve done the meds for almost 30 years. When I came to Kehr, I had been on some of those meds for decades and was off in no time and they wonder why I was so sick? Maybe spend more than 6 sessions with someone and go over their entire record. And don't work with people who have just been in a car accident and are in pain all the time. By August 14th, 2018 I was sent to detox by Dr Kehr for Klonopin I had taken as prescribed for over a decade. He cold turkeyed that and another medication. You’re not supposed to just rip people off meds like you did and then send a person to a detox facility to come off a Benzo. They do not taper. You are cut off before you even get there. I’m not sure why you didn’t hear me saying I was sober 16 yrs. It's in your notes. Why would you send someone to detox anyway? Coming off Benzos cold turkey can kill people. And you can develop Akathisia among other issues.
With my current doctor, we did a slow taper off Phenobarbital that took almost a year because my husband put me in rehab instead of taking me back to Kehr the day I was out of detox. Rehab was the last place I needed to be and putting me on more meds didn't help. Things went very wrong at this point. My current doctor just threw medication after medication to try and stabilize me. And add in abuse from my husband. Fun times.
If the taper isn’t 10% or less cuts every 4-6 weeks…and you're getting sick... it's not your original diagnosis getting worse. It's the drugs. It's called withdrawal. Research, research, research is all I can say.
No I’m not spam or a bot. I am a legit patient who is still seen by a doctor in the practice. I believe 100% that Dr Kehr is PART of the reason I am disabled and suffer daily.

Dr. Portillo is exactly on time for all appointments. He sends all scripts electronically immediately during our appointment. He's responded SAME DAY to all phone calls for meds refill or questions 100% of the time. I'm 57 and been to many, many doctors over the years. Nobody even close to that. When you're sick and not feeling well these are huge items to me. Smartest doctor by far that I've seen. He truly understands the chemicals in most every drug we discuss and understands the complicated nature our body deals with these meds. Doesn't waste time with unneeded appointments which of course is huge money saver ... may simply give you a quick message. Great value for the money.

This office is recommending a test for $295 plus shipping plus the hourly cost of a person who would come down to draw the blood. I checked and that test kit is available for free. The recommendation that the dr NG gave was completely ridiculous, and incorrect. I connected with the school counselor on his recommendations and everything he said was incorrect. I would not spend time and money at this place.
