Edited. I did not know that Dr. Hambright sold the practice, but without knowing, the last time that we were there I have seen major changes in the office, prices and staff working there. We will have to see how it goes. As per Dr. Hambright he is simply the best doctor in this area, and we have been around a lot. The place is clean and the receptionists are kind. We love this place is just a bit far for us. I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Hambright.

Bad service! Dr. Hambright sold the practice. Now under new ownership. I do not recommend. We have been coming here for 20+ years… 3 dogs. No more! Wait time is way too long and they are unapologetic. Prices are way too high.

Very caring. We had a cat that they helped across the rainbow bridge.

My family has been seeing dr. Hambright for over 25 years for our many beloved family pets. Nebel street animal hospital always takes great care of me and my cat! I’ve had great experiences with both doctors here

The entire staff here is incredibly nice, and passionate about their jobs! The vets listen to your concerns, and have consistently been able to treat my pitbull's chronic allergies, ear infections, tummy problems, and arthritis. We can rest knowing he's got such great care! My boyfriend's family has used this clinic for 20 years, and I have used them for 7.

I used this veterinarian about ten years ago and just came back with our next dog. Everyone is still just as great, from the staff to the vet. My pup got some much loving! Everyone made sure his first experience was positive. I also came away feeling costs were reasonable and I was not pressured in any way.

Dr Hambright is one of a kind. His knowledge and genuine care for each patient is so clear. He is trustworthy, honest, and a seriously incredible vet. Any pet who goes to Nebel Street for care is a pet who will be well cared for. I’m so thankful for how he’s helped my dog Moose during difficult times.

Just good old fashioned care by a doctor who loves his profession. Thorough, attentive, gentle, kind.

The front desk staff are extremely rude, I constantly felt rushed here and that my time/concerns didn’t matter. My dog was recently diagnosed with Addisons disease, which requires a monthly shot and occasional bloodwork. Nebel Street was recommended to us as having experience with this disease so we decided to try it out.Since this disease was new to us and I had a lot of questions I made a point to schedule visits with a doctor rather than a vet tech so that I could have my questions answered. On multiple occasions, my requests were either ignored or the doctor was tied up (which I totally understand because emergencies come up!) I was told that I could leave a message with questions and the doctor would call me back, which never happened despite me reaching out multiple times to follow up.Most recently, my dog went in for her shot and was given less than half of the dose she was supposed to get. When I got to the car, I noticed on the invoice that the dose was wrong and went back inside and asked the front desk to clarify this. They were very short and rude with me and told me “this is what the doctor wanted”. I had a feeling it was an oversight so I asked her if she could go confirm. She came back and confirmed that this was what the doctor wanted. I was so confused and frustrated, and had so many questions which were never answered because I could never get time with the doctor.I got a call a few days later from the doctor apologizing that she did indeed give the wrong dose, and for me to bring my dog back so they could give her the rest (I do appreciate that they gave it free of charge). So I had to drive 40 minutes back, 3 days later, to get her the rest of her shot. After this situation I knew I wanted to find a new vet because I constantly felt like I was rushed there and that I wasn’t being heard. The front desk ignored my multiple requests for my dogs records, to which I realized they weren’t even keeping record of what dose she had been giving each time.

We have been clients at Nebel for 12 years! With our 5 dogs, thru thick and thin, we are still very happy with their care!

DO NOT GO HERE YOU WILL LITERALLY WASTE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I’ve been going here since 2002 and today was my absolute last day. They just lost 5 patients. I came in today for my appointment, about 10 minutes early and I was NOT even acknowledged when coming in and nobody asked me why I was there or if I needed any help. I continued to wait an EXTRA 40-50 minutes and was never seen. I left, and I said I would be leaving and no one cared and continued to look down. This is ALSO happened the last time I was here, I was barely acknowledged and seen for a good 10 minute appt after the doctor had literally spent like 40 minutes with the patient before. I am so done here. The staff are rude and unprofessional and really just don’t care about the patients and their parents. I literally called my new vet today and asked them if they could call Nebel street to transfer all of my pets’ records because I will never be calling this place again. The front staff are REALLY rude btw I would love to share HER name but I won’t, just please DO NOT GO HERE, waste of money and time, they are super over priced and try to sell you stuff that you don’t need and tell you a diagnosis that is untrue just so they can gauge you.Beware and come at your own risk, you’ve been warned, please save your time and money.

I have been with Dr. Foster for 20 yr. She has an amazing way with the animals and knowing what is wrong. Her ability to explain what is going on is incredible. When it was time to put an animal to sleep, Dr. Foster's empathy was hart warming. I have a young child and Dr. Foster was very pashent and helped her to understand and accept the decision.

I've been going to Nebel Street Animal Hospital and Dr. Hambright for 15 years and have always felt like my dogs were truly cared for with expertise. I'm writing this review just based on my recent two visits, both to take care of my 8yr old intact female's sudden change in behavior and greyish/brownish excretions from vaginal area. First off I should say that as young as age 4, Dr. Hambright recommended spaying due to the risk of uterus infection later in life. Sure enough that's what she had. Upon diagnosis (first visit), Dr. Hambright scheduled Melody for emergency surgery at 7:30am the next morning which he would do himself. About five hours later I get a great phone call from Dr. Hambright saying Melody did well (to me that means Dr. Hambright did well) and I can pick her up after her recovery. Now, two days after surgery with expertly fitted cone around Melody's neck, she is already back to her usual self thanks to the excellent surgery by Dr. Hambright, TLC during recovery from staff, and the prescriptions. I have loved Nebel Street Animal Hospital for a long time, many more times with our past dog Brownie whom Dr. Hambright extended her quality of life by a year, etc. Lots of people say their vet is the best, but Dr. Hambright really is!

Dr. Douglas Hambright, proprietor and principal veterinarian of Nebel Street Animal Hospital in Rockville, MD, is truly a fantastic vet -- great diagnostician, wonderful bedside manner, and very calm and gentle with his clients...both two- and four-legged. He doesn't rush through exams, and he's very respectful and patient with all questions and concerns. He has been my dog's primary veterinarian for nearly a decade, though, a couple of times over the years my dog had also been seen by one of his staff veterinarians, also good.Four out of 5 stars given for two reasons: (1) my dog was diagnosed with kidney failure about which I hadn't been informed that frequent infusions of subcutaneous fluids could bring comfort and life-extending potential to my dog...if not dehydrated, she has more of an appetite. Rather, I learned about this from a friend whose dog has kidney disease. I was able to obtain the necessary items and instruction from "Nebel" and regularly administer the fluids to my dog at home, which has absolutely helped her. Not easy, but I figured out how to safely secure my dog by sitting on the floor with my legs wrapped around her, her sitting and pushed up close to my torso with her head under my armpit, while holding the needle in place with one hand and lightly tapping her back with the other to distract -- prevents fidgiting and escape (NOTE: this setup may not work as well with a large dog)...and the very sharp, long needle from flying out of my dog and into me, which happened on my first try. (My friend's uncooperative dog has to be taken to her vet -- a different practice -- three costly times each week for his infusions.); AND, (2) the former office manager and at least two front desk staffers over the years were occasionally quite rude and unprofessional, not only in my own experience but with a number of others I personally know who've taken pets there. Thankfully, however, they're all gone... manager and one staffer in just the last 6 months. Energy in the place is now light and comfortable. All considered, I still highly recommend.
