The shop hours are 8am to 9pm. However, yesterday evening (2/9/24) the security guard turned the light off of most areas of the shop at 848pm and shouted to everyone "you must leave, I will kick you out if you don't!" He (an African American) is very very rude to all the customers who are still shopping. We asked him why you don't respect your store hours which you put on the doors. He answered "IF YOU WANT ARGUE, I WILL SHOW YOU HOW TO ARGUE!" He had a gun and was threatening us. What a bad experience! I never saw any store treat its customers in this way. I should call 911 at that moment - it was such an unsafe environment.

This is an excellent Asian supermarket where you can get a wide variety of fresh produce plus seafood ( live fish, shrimp, squid, crab, you name it). They also have a cooked food counter where you can get dim sum, roast duck, roast pig, etc. During busy times, the parking lot gets a bit crazy, but you can manage with a bit of patience:-)

This is the only Chinese supermarket in the Bethesda-Rockville area n over time it has been offering a wider variety of Asian products - there is 1/2 an aisle of Vietnamese products. The veggie, fruit, fish n pork offerings are outstanding. However, I took a star away because of the smell: I'm troubled by it as soon as I enter, the fish smell being the predominant one. Help is very hard to find n good luck communicating unless u speak Mandarin!

I make the 35 minute drive out here at least once a month to stock up on my Asian necessities like rice, noodles, sauces, whole fish & other seafood, Asian snacks and fruits, and other goodies.I like making a pot of soup on a weekly basis, and this is the place that I always buy pork neck bones for soup. Pork neck bone soup with lotus root, or winter melon, or carrots and potatoes and dates. You can usually find all the fresh ingredients you need for cooking soup and Asian dishes here. On the most part, the quality is okay. But you will notice that there are some foods that aren't as fresh. You just need to know what you're looking for and choose wisely. Many people shop here, so their workers are busy adding more items. There is a small food court in the back of the grocery store, but I've never tried their cooked foods before. There are many good restaurants in the nearby area, so we always eat something delicious whenever we visit Rockville, before going to the grocery store.I only wish this place wasn't so far of a drive for me.

Came here recently when looking for hot pot items. My usual spots are 99 Ranch and maybe HMart. I found the prices here much cheaper than 99 Ranch.. a drink cost 1.99 vs 2.39, for example. I was here mostly for hot pot broth mixed and the place did not disappoint. They even had a half foot spice mix shaped in a gummy bear figure for hotpot. I was tempted but had no idea what it would taste like. Also, this seems to be one of the few Asian markets that had taro cakes and radish cakes available. Made in Taiwan. Yes! My partner felt like the place was well maintained. Overall definitely plan to explore further in the future.

Please call your local exterminator!!!! I think it is just nasty watching large rats run all over the store. And for everyone calling this place clean?? Do you know what clean is? Definitely not a clean store. Probably my last visit there after seen the rats.

I can’t say enough good things about Great Wall Supermarket in Rockville! This place is a hidden gem for anyone who loves exploring international flavors and finding fresh ingredients. The store is always impeccably clean, and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. They have an extensive selection of products from various countries, which makes it a one-stop shop for all your culinary adventures. Whether you’re looking for authentic Asian, Latin American, or Middle Eastern ingredients, you’ll find it here. Their produce section is top-notch⬤

Tons of free parking. Accepts both cash and credit card. Crowded, small and busy store. If you are familiar with grocery stores in Chinatown, then you will know what I'm talking about. This grocery store is very crowded and understaffed. This grocery store does offer tons of food items and grocery items, however it's so cramped. Also it's very crowded and the lines at checkout are slow and long. In terms of freshness, the frozen aisles appears okay. The produce and veggies are hit or Miss. also, the pricing here is heavily inflated compared to other grocery stores. If you must need groceries, you can come here. However, it's so crowded here and a bit dirty floors. Again, if you need groceries, you can either come here or go elsewhere. There are other options in the MoCo area.

They have almost every food you could possibly imagine. The fresh fish department is almost beyond imagination. The prices are a lot less than your typical suburban supermarket.

The food is very good and there’s a wide selection of stuff plus a very good food bar. The only problem is like a lot of stuff it has lead in some products.

Love the design of this place and that you can pretty much get whatever assortment of goods that they have available.Plus, I love it when they make funny faces on their fruits. I can’t think of any other grocery store that does that in America. Also, who would’ve thought that shiso leaves could be found in a grocery store like the Great Wall Supermarket!? In Memphis, if you’re lucky, you could only find the dried ones. Now let’s hope that they would sell fresh umeboshi at this market down the road.

I've been to a few other Asian stores around the area and this one was particularly close to where I was currently at. I wanted to check if they had these specific chips I liked (which they did not, sadly). I read some of the reviews of this location, and some of them did mention a bad smell near the fish section. I figured it wouldn't be that bad. It's fish, fish are a little smelly.Boy, did I underestimate those reviews. The whole store has this weird smell, but it gets significantly worse when you get closer to the back. When I passed the fish section I literally started gagging. It was so unpleasant. The area where the fish were being prepared looked pretty dirty as well, at least on the floor. The cashier who checked me out was nice, and there seems to be a wide catalog of items to choose from, but I just can't get over the stench. If you're more sensitive to smell, I would recommend going somewhere else. I personally will not be coming back here any time soon.

Large, decent Asian supermarket selling fresh produce, seafood, meat, snacks, cooking equipment, houseware items and others. There is also a food court inside.

a little expensive! although i love their snack choices and the drinks. the part of the store near the fish smells a bit, but overall i love the store bc its one of the only places to get authentic Chinese food in the area.
