We used flatrate to move to a new apartment last month. The mover were awesome. Not a scratch on any of our furniture. Mike did a great job setting the whole move up and it went super smoothly. The communication was great and we knew exactly where everything was during the move.

Do not use this company!! FlatRate broke thousands of dollars worth of property and took zero accountability. Seems to me they are more of a brokerage than a moving company, hiring local day workers with little to no professionalism to move your stuff. They repeatedly tried to increase the price of the move. They are shockingly incompetent and unethical. Once they have your money, you will be lucky to get any meaningful response from them. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

There was a reason they were available when no one else was - after a fairly simple one bedroom move they broke a marble table, a dining chair, and a lamp. All with little apology and still requesting a 20% tip

Fairly disappointing experience. A representative was quick to give me a quote after I completed an online RFP but after that it was EXTREMELY difficult to get anyone to answer my follow-up questions in the weeks leading up to my move. Had to repeatedly send emails and then resort to calling the office to complain that no one was answering. Emails from customers should be answered within 24 hours, or at very most 48, especially for arrangements such as cross-country moves. Was never able to create an online account to self-manage/self-view details. For the price I was paying, the responsiveness and customer service could have been a LOT better. And then, claiming "COVID protocols," furniture that was disassembled at origin was not reassembled as destination and neither were empty boxes taken away. COVID doesn't live on surfaces, y'all. Carrying my empty boxes away won't give you the virus.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. This company is a complete SCAM. We paid to have our items packed and shipped from CA to RI. We had a long video interview and went over each and every item. We identified the items that were fragile, expensive, heirlooms, and equipment that all required special packing. They informed us they would wrap and crate these items. These items, such as my $6,000 onyx table and numerous pieces of expensive scientific equipment, were packed like garbage. The tables were wrapped in a blanket and then sandwiched into a piece of cardboard with duct tape. These marble tables cracked in half and are unable to be repaired (only replaced). $12,000 tables are now garbage. The sensitive scientific equipment was put into a box without any bubble tape or wrapping packed amongst other random items like text books. Over $20,000 worth of damage and after a lot of heartache and headache they are giving us $500. We requested a refund on the service they failed to provide and they have ignored us. We appealed the claim response of $500 and they ignored us, let the clock run out, and 3 months later reply and say the claim was closed. This company is a piece of crap. Better you pack your own items and drag them to the new destination than to spend $7000 on this company and lose all of your items. Disgraceful! And they haven't heard the end of it yet from me. I refuse to let them get away with destroying all of our priceless belongings and getting away with it. The BBB is our next stop and then an attorney.

We hope we can save others from having the nightmare experience we had with Flatrate. Ours was a three step move. Out of one house, into their storage facility and then to Colorado. We have paid this company almost 30k. When the truck arrived in Colorado we were told they couldn’t fit all of our things on the truck so it was left behind in Maryland. We never received any warning in advance. So needless to say we were missing bed frames, bolts for bed frames we had were missing not to mention the extensive damage to our furniture. We were lied to about the storage facility. It was not climate controlled. Boxes were crushed as if exposed to water. Liquid damage to wood.
We asked when they would be delivering the rest of our furniture. At first we were told within a week. Never happened. Almost a month later we received the rest. Legs for our dining room sideboard are missing, multiple glass tops for tables and glass shelving are missing as well. We haven’t started the claim process yet but based on what we have read on BBB not hopeful.
When you hire a moving company you place your trust in them to take care of your belongings. Sure things happen and we fully expected a scratch here or there but not the damage we incurred. We paid in full upfront as required by the company for a service that was was substandard. They let us down. Thankful we have good pictures of the furniture prior to moving to prove the good quality and condition. We are prepared to take legal action against this company. No one should go through this. Moving is stressful enough....this was a nightmare. UPDATE.......Received a response from the owner saying that we where compensated for the fact we didn't receive our belongings at the same time. We have not received any compensation just a run around. It was also indicated that they worked with our schedule for the second delivery and they did not. It came 2 weeks after they agreed to have it delivered.

Flat Rate Movers provided me with exceptional service, they cared for my belongings as if were theirs, everything was maticulously and methodically packed in a way that nothing was damaged. They are very professional and experienced movers, I highly recommend them!
