Dear Capital Women’s Care, I want to say thank you for the attentive and thorough care that I am receiving at your practice. I really appreciated the kind call from Angela, your office manager today to offer an additional appointment. I also appreciated the time Dr. Footer and Dr. Wagar were able to take in our recent appointments to discuss many important topics with me. I know that I’m an unusual case with unique preferences and the respect, compassion and communication in these appointments to discuss options, risks and benefits has been helpful. I’m relieved to find in my most recent appointment that your practice follows ACOG guidelines as I’ve read the Committee on Ethics Opinion Document #664, which was written in 2016, and then reaffirmed in 2019. It states, “The most suitable ethical approach for medical decision making in obstetrics is one that recognizes the pregnant woman’s freedom to make decisions within caring relationships, incorporates a commitment to informed consent and refusal within a commitment to provide medical benefit to patients, and respects patients as whole and embodied individuals. This ethical approach recognizes that the obstetrician–gynecologist’s primary duty is to the pregnant woman…” and “It also is important to inform the patient that other aspects of her care are not conditioned on making a choice that her obstetrician–gynecologist might prefer…after the patient and the physician have discussed the clinical situation and the benefits and risks of the recommended treatment or intervention, the patient should decide whether or not to proceed with the recommended treatment (informed consent) or to forgo the recommended treatment (informed refusal)...” This is true to the experience I have had at your office and I have felt respected as an individual. I have felt that my concerns and opinions have been valued even when divergent from the typical model of care. I am also grateful to have my blood pressure and vitals monitored at each visit, knowing that I can reach out if something happens. It is such a relief to have a great team of knowledgeable and compassionate doctors and nurses who we can rely on as we experience this pregnancy journey. I am looking forward to my next appointment and thank you again from my heart for being there for our family in the best way possible. Katherine Chava Allgood

I recently had a LEEP procedure in the Rockville office performed by Dr. Band. I felt a tiny little pinch when he numbed the area but then no pain afterwards. The procedure was quick and I had no issues during the procedure or with recovery.Dr. Band was amazing. He kept me informed of what he was going to do which helped me feel more comfortable during the procedure. This was much better and faster than having to go to a surgical center.

Just got referred to this practice a couple years ago when I was having a major issue and could not be more pleased with them. I’ve referred many of my friends and family to them since and and have gotten equally rave reviews.

I’ve been seeing Dr. Lin for 2 years now. She’s very personable and easy to talk to. The new office is beautiful and the support staff are great.

After coming in for my 2 week check up at 3 weeks due to scheduling issues on Capital Woman’s Care’s behalf, I was told “congratulations” even though my baby was stillborn. When trying to schedule my appointment I was hung up on multiple times and have had multiple patient portal messages go unanswered. I talked to an office administrator but they were no help on why my calls were hung up (the office answered immediately when I called from my husband’s phone) and messages not answered. This unfortunately isn’t my first grievance with this office. Half the doctor’s won’t take your concerns serious.

Dr. Band and his staff are great professionals to entrust my health with and I he has been my doctor for years. He delivered my daughter twenty-six years ago and I have a lot of respect for him and his professional knowledge of the medical industry.

The doctors are great and front desk is friendly. However they really need to change the nurse who does blood draw. Every time I went in she couldn’t find the vein and had to poke around for half minutes with the needle under my skin and it hurts a Looooooot !!!! I’ve been to different places for blood work and this was the only place that it happened. My arm was painful for the following whole week.Plus it was extremely slow for them to upload results to portal. I’ve done a blood test two months ago but still haven’t got any result online.

The staff members have consistently displayed a high level of friendliness. Dr Footer, in particular, has exhibited exceptional bedside manner. What stands out to me the most is that Dr Footer was the sole doctor (out of many), who dedicated the time to actively listen to my concerns and patiently explain every detail until I had a full understanding before any decision. He gave me my life back. I am immensely grateful that he was the physician on duty when I first encountered him in the hospital many years ago.

Have been with the Shadygrove / Band office of CWC for 12 years. They are great. Love Inez and LOVE LOVE LOVE their new doc Dr. Anne Shrout. She is hilarious and makes what I find a generally uncomfortable appointment pleasant.

We received a voicemail at around 8:15 as we were on our way to our 8:45 appointment letting us know that the sonograph technician was "out sick" and that we wouldn't be able to have a sonograph done but we could still meet with our OB-GYN.After arriving at the office, I enquired if there was not anyone else in the office who could use the sonograph machine (for example the 5 MDs on staff) and was told that the MDs "wouldn't do that" - the tone was obviously meant to imply that they MDs are "too busy" to perform sonographs. Our options were either to reschedule or to find our own sonograph appointment at another facility (they provided no referrals) and the office would then send over a script or to reschedule our appointment - we didn't reschedule as we had both taken a day off work for this appointment. We decided to stay and speak to the doctor and overheard receptionists offering to book in patients for a sonograph at the Bethesda location (we were told the 1 sonograph technician at Bethesda was "completely full" when we checked-in).We were later told that the technician at the Rockville location was out due to a "death in the family" and that it was "very hard to find additional technicians". It's hard to believe that the office doesn't have a "Plan B" for when the technician is out ... if you know you struggle to find coverage then why wouldn't use ensure that one of the MDs or another staff member knows how to use the machine?I complained to the Office Manager and she was apologetic (to an extent) but didn't seem to understand that they need to review their current practice for when staff are out.We also had to repeatedly tell staff that we didn't want to run the NIPT tests for chromosomal abnormalities - we told them before this appointment and then had to tell 2 other staff members during this visit; clearly they are trying to push the NIPT.In summary: we weren't able to have a sonograph performed and instead were referred to another OB-GYN for a sonograph, although we had to co-ordinate the sharing of medical files ourselves as apparently the Rockville office wasn't willing or able to do that - other patients were offered a sam day sonograph at the Bethesda location and we weren't (although we arrived first): terrible customer service.

Appointments scheduled is easy and quick, but they charge very high. No discount for high deductible insurance and I paid 700 dollars for the bacteria test. Nothing found and I cured by myself. You know, you can just go to cvs to buy a kit. I would highly recommend you to go to a clinic using doctors name other the the franchise, they only want money and don’t care their patients. A good lesson for me.
