We moved from Boston two years ago, and the Bender JCC has been our anchor of connection to the Jewish community. We do personal fitness training, participate in Hebrew classes, music and cultural events, and have made wonderful friendships.

Member. Great facilities, instructors, and special events. Friendly atmosphere. My go-to place to relax or exercise, or just chill.

Very good sports center with 2 large swimming pools, including 1 outdoor one open all year round, for advanced swimmers as well as families with children and beginners. In addition, there is a well-equipped gym, large rooms for team games, and various sports activities for various age groups. Good changing rooms, showers, and a dry and steam sauna. Friendly staff

I've been a member at the Bender JCC for some time now, and while I appreciate many aspects of the facility, there are a few areas where improvements are needed.Firstly, I'd like to suggest extending the gym's operating hours. Currently, it closes quite early, and it would greatly benefit members if it remained open until at least 9:00 PM. This would allow for more flexibility in workout schedules and accommodate those with busy evenings.Additionally, I've noticed that equipment repairs seem to take longer than expected. Timely maintenance is crucial to ensure that members can enjoy a safe and efficient workout experience. I encourage the management to prioritize prompt equipment repairs to enhance the overall gym experience.Furthermore, there's an ongoing issue with missing nets on the basketball rims in the court area. It's been like this for months now, and it's affecting the quality of play for basketball enthusiasts. Replacing these nets should be a priority to maintain the high standards of the facility.Lastly, I believe that the overall appearance of the facilities reflects the care and attention to detail from the management. A tidy and well-maintained facility creates a positive environment for all members. I would appreciate it if the management could address these concerns, as a cleaner and more organized space would greatly enhance the overall experience for everyone.I want to emphasize that these suggestions are made with the best interests of the members and the facility in mind. I have enjoyed my time at Bender JCC and believe that with these improvements, it can become an even better place for the community to stay active and healthy.

I was a member here for the past year. There are several factors leading to my decision to cancel my membership:1. The facility closes at 8 pm which is inconvenient for me especially during the summer since the days are longer. On numerous occasions, the staff would switch off the sauna and steam rooms by 7:30 pm. After bringing this to their attention, they initially argued with me that closing time was 8 pm and the cleaning staff needed to wrap up their cleaning. After I explained to them that cleaning staff should enter the facility after patrons have left not while they are still there, they made changes to switch them off at 8 pm which is their stated closing time.2. The gym is nicely equipped and is a good size. However, depending upon time of the day, certain machines may not be available. The treadmills need to be either replaced or repaired since several of the treads are worn and some of them do not have functioning TVs. The sauna and steam rooms were non- functional and closed several times in the last 8 months.3. The group classes are held during working hours which made it impossible for me to participate. 4. The elevator to the gym has a terrible smell. Despite bringing this to the attention of the staff, nothing was done. Overall, I did not think it was a good value for my money.

If there is a option for zero i would give them 0, everybody should avoid this place, pool - dirty and pool water doesn't contain proper chemicals for cleaning, dressing room - dirty and small bad, gym - equipment is old, not maintained, and of course dirty, you need to schedule you work out time to THEIR working time, for example for every single holiday they are closed for couple of days or they are open just for half a day, hospitality ZERO ??? Also if you start your membership on 10th in the month, and if you cancel with 30 days notice, they will charge you whole amount for 30 days but you get to use facilities just 20 days, ridiculous ??? Worst sports facilities i ever been ??? They are taking money and giving nothing back for that ??? AVOID AVOID AVOID

This place has a teacher, Oona Stiglietz, that destroys other people's private property and thinks it's her right to do so. She cut a flag in half to stifle freedom of speech. She's an educated woman and has no idea what freedom of speech means. She should be held accountable. Is this how you want your school to be represented? Shameful and despicable.

We rented the Kreeger auditorium at JCC to host a Indian classical dance event for our daughters in August 2022. The rental was expensive. The auditorium itself is well equipped but the support given by JCC compared to the cost is not justified. There are other locations in the area where we think we could have received much better value.JCC charges extra for many items over and above the main rental fee. You have to review the contract very carefully.1) We were charged $245/hour extra from 3:30PM to 6PM to do table setup in the social hall which we felt was totally unjustified since we were already renting/paying for the social hall from 6PM onwards.2) We struggled to vacate the Kreeger Hall after 9PM.Our program ran late and we had to unpack in one hour otherwise you get charged $245/hour for each hour you delay. We did not get access to the service entrance which was a shorter walk from backstage to load/unload. Therefore we had toload/unload from the main lobby which was very difficult and painful. We had to focus on the unpacking/clean up and could not be with our guests3)This classical event was very new to us we took a friend's advice and booked JCC. My advice to the next family hosting a similar event will definitely NOT be JCC. There are other auditoriums close by in Montgomery county schools/churches/county halls who are more cost effective and a lot more eager to help more flexible and reasonable in their costing.Responding to owner comments:JCC gave a glib sophisticated response to our review. We are definitely NOT going back to JCC. They never responded as to why they charged us $245/hour to do table setup when we had already rented the social hall from 6pm. Advice all folks looking for a venue to research other auditoriums close by which are equally good and much less expensive

The facility itself is great. Most of the staffs are nice. But people who are using the facility, especially certain groups of people are not friendly towards people don’t belong to them. As an adult, it maybe ok. But I don’t want my kids grow up in an environment like this. So I’m canceling my membership.

We've been members since 2016; essentially my kids have grown up coming here. Its a great place. We are a swimming family, mostly using the two pools. JCC is pretty much a part of our lives!

Update (July 2022) - We remained members all this time, including COVID time. Unfortunately, it feels like Bender JCC facilities are slowly deteriorating: shortened hours, questionable cleanliness, and broken utilities that never get fixed. All the concerns voiced by numerous members are being ignored. The only positive thing that remained is the incredible staff. Our daughter went to after school program at JCC for 3 years. Overall it is a great facility with so many different classes to keep your kid busy. That being said I feel their annual membership is very expensive.
