It was fantastic it was very very nice and clean and the lady who helped me Ashley was wonderful and beautiful showing me around and showing me the beautiful wonderful cats that they have. I felt very welcomed and answered all my questions for me very pleasant. I would highly recommend adopting a beautiful cat from them.

5 stars would recommend. I was very impressed with Chesapeake Cats & Dogs. It's a tough time with my mother passing late last year and my stepfather earlier this week. We needed a place for the cats ASAP. Chesapeake Cats & Dogs was there when we needed them. After dropping off the 3 cats last night, I was really impressed with their space and their intake practices. Cats had plenty of room, there were a lot of cats, but not too many for the space. They took the time to get all of the pertinent information to be sure that it would be safe for them to take in my mom's 3 cats. They were very appreciative of my mother's detailed record keeping on her cats' veterinary visits.

Filled out application for a dog. Didn't get a return phone call or even an email response. What waste of time.

Called and talked to a lady who was rude and nasty about the questions I asked, which was disappointing since they had a dog I liked. I will not buy from a place with people who don't care about the people wanting to adopt.

We adopted two cats from here and they are awesome. One is a senior who lost his person and the other lost her way.

2018/Update: Chesapeake Dogs & Cats, Inc. (CDC) staff are very particular about to whom their rescues go, concerned for the happiness and well-being of both parties. An application is required and details of the planned living situation mandatory. There is also a trial period available for the adopting parent(s) to assess compatibility and welfare of the cat in their home. The shelter let us spend many hours getting to know the cats there. We adopted two in early-mid 2016, Skittles/Skitty (7) and then Calvin (3). Our third, Mooch, was a stray polydactyl kitten discovered in our local area.We lost our beloved Skitty 17DEC17 to a bacterial infection she somehow inhaled, surmised the ER doctor. She was mama cat to Mooch and best buds with Calvin, so both are severely depressed right now. CDC staff learned of the news and sent us a card. We really appreciated that, though it made my husband and I cry again.Thank you, CDC, for your loving support and concern over us our our beloved fur babies. We look forward to working with you again. In response to a comment, keeping kittens in a shelter of abandoned and abused cats fighting over territory is unwise. CDC has done well in this regard.

We went to an open house looking for a kitten. Unlike many other shelters the animals here are able to interact with both visitors and each other! Who would want to adopt a pet they couldn't get to know a head of time?

I asked if I could look at a kitten. They said they're all in foster homes. I'm expected to go separately to each house to pick one out. This is a crazy system and i'm pretty sure most people won't do.
