This is the worst UPS store I've ever been to. A few months ago, I went to return an item, and they insisted I buy their box before I could return it, because it was a relatively large item, and the box costs around $15. I went to another UPS store, and they didn't have this requirement! Today, I went to send a machine for repair, and because I already had a prepaid receipt, they demanded I buy $7.99 worth of tape to cover it before they would ship it, and kept reminding me they were closing soon. Since the machine is heavy, I kept trying to negotiate a solution. Finally, I was very confused, so I went home, got the tape, and went to another UPS store. The previous UPS store was very helpful, and they didn't need the tape at all! Although this store is very close to my home, I will never go there again!

Disappointing Experience at this UPS Store
I’ve never written a review but this one was necessary.
I try to avoid this location, but since I live nearby I sometimes have to use it. The service is rigid and unfriendly, with little willingness to accommodate. I dropped off a small package that was ready to go and only needed a tiny amount of tape, yet I was charged $2 at the front desk. It’s not about the money—it’s the principle of good customer service. When I shared my opinion, the lady didn’t seem to care, even after noting that other stores don’t act this way. There’s no sense of relationship or care—just a transactional interaction with rude behavior.
By the way, this was not the first time. One time, the lady made me buy a whole roll of tape for literally 4” of tape. Another time, they tried to charge me an exorbitant amount of money to pack and ship in addition while it was supposed to be free.
I’m DONE with this location. Please don’t bother writing a “we are sorry message”. You weren’t sorry when I shared my negative experience directly with you in the store.
Hope you make some changes for your own good! Just look how low your ratings are. There are plenty of super friendly UPS stores nearby. Best of luck.
I’d give minus 100 stars if that was available.

So rude. Be better. A man and a woman were chatting in their own language while I stood directly in front of them, waiting to be acknowledged. They never greeted me. When the woman was FINALLY ready, she simply nodded her chin in my direction without saying a word!?! It was extremely rude and beyond unprofessional. Easily the worst UPS location I’ve ever been to. Will avoid from now on.

Thought they were good! Don’t know why so many reviews say otherwise tbh

This is the worst UPS store I have ever visited. The customer service is terrible — the staff are rude, unaccommodating, and seem completely uninterested in helping customers. The owner never smiles, never welcomes anyone, constantly complains about packaging, and often refuses to accept returns. It feels like they simply don’t care about their clients, and the service has only gotten worse over the years. I have reported these issues to UPS and hope the store comes under new ownership in the future. Honestly, I don’t understand why they even have the store if they dislike this work so much!

After years of visiting this location while avoiding it many times, and also giving her (the lady at the front desk) the benefit of the doubt every single time, I can confirm that this location is, without a doubt, one of the worst UPSs to go to. The lady at the front desk (I believe she is the owner) lacks customer service skills. She is unaccommodating, unhelpful, and makes things more complicated for customers; she always has a stony face. If you can avoid going there, do it. Awful way to treat customers. She is miserable and should be in the back, where she doesn't have to interact with clients—no more business from me.

The worst UPS I have been to in my life. Went there once and had a very rude interaction. I hoped it was a one time event and then was reprimanded today for how I prepared Amazon returns to the point I took the rest of my boxes to another UPS. I will never go back and would never recommend this UPS.

I rarely write reviews, but today’s experience at the UPS store in Potomac Village honestly left me feeling hurt and frustrated.
I came in to drop off two return items for a friend—one in a box with a barcode, and the other just a loose item with a tag. My friend sent me a screenshot with both barcodes, and I simply asked the woman working there (short hair) if she could scan them to figure out which barcode belonged to which item. I explained that I wasn’t sure since I was doing this as a favor.
I asked her nicely if she could just scan the barcodes to see which one matched each item. Instead of helping, she replied with a dismissive attitude, “No, I can’t. You have to figure out which item belongs to each barcode.” Then she just walked away—no effort, no explanation, nothing. And the store wasn’t even busy—I was the only one standing there. I stood there feeling confused, uncomfortable, and honestly, unwelcome. She was with the customer right before me—a white woman. She was smiling, polite, and chatty. But when it came to me? Stone-faced, cold, and dismissive. And the part that really stings? I’m Asian too—just like her.
If you don’t know how to scan an item to help a customer figure it out—something other UPS stores can clearly do—then maybe it’s time to go through some training to be more professional. Running a business doesn’t mean you get to treat customers however you feel that day. Owning a store doesn’t give you the right to give people attitude depending on your mood. It’s EXTREMELY RUDE to act like you’re the best UPS location around while treating people like they’re beneath you. You’re not doing anyone a favor by being there—this is your job. If you’re going to treat people based on how you’re feeling or what they look like, maybe it’s time to find a different line of work.
After leaving, I went to another UPS store on River Road near Whole Foods. I explained the same situation, and the man there was so kind and polite. He scanned both items, figured out the label, printed it, and that was it. No attitude. No unnecessary drama. Just decent, professional service.
I’ve dropped off hundreds of packages before. I know how it works. I wasn’t asking for anything special—just for someone to take a few extra seconds to help. It’s honestly painful when someone in customer service treats you like you don’t matter.
If I could give the Potomac Village UPS location zero stars, I would. I didn’t expect celebrity treatment—but a little respect would’ve gone a long way. When someone walks in with a smile and says hi, the bare minimum is to say hi back. The way I was treated was not okay. I understand exactly why this location has so many negative reviews.
I hope no one else has to leave that store feeling as small and disrespected as I did today.

This store charges exorbitant rates for witnessing/notarizing documents. I'd ask around to other facilities before going back here again.
