The school is great and has the best staff to keep them running. On a day like 01/16/23 though, looking outside and seeing, hearing, even feeling the conditions makes it apparent to everyone that they should be in the house. Now granted not everyone has that luxury but sending your staff to work on an icy snowy day like this is unacceptable. The weather could bring so many casualties to the staff or even the parents and children.

Worst leadership ever. The director is awful. Lately, there has been a revolving door of staff. The leadership team are liars ! Full of micro aggressions and passing the buck. Don’t send your child here unless they are 100% prim and proper.

This school is poorly run. Micro aggression and biased behaviors from the leaders and I'll equipped teachers . Stacey, the director, is the worst of them all. Beware enrolling your child here. The director blatantly lied on my child with such heinous and ill-natured allegations. Her boss did nothing about it, and she is still allowed to terrorize people's children per the other review listed here! The details are too gross to share. Her superior jumped to the defense to protect her and the irresponsible practices. I pray that Courtney recognizes that the current leadership team does not uphold the tenants that the center was built upon and quite frank, does not have what it takes to run a center. My child's life has been uprooted because I had to make the decision to remove my child because he was not safe to be a child in this place of business. I tried following up to get answers based on the director's allegations of my child and not one person has followed up since.

My almost 4.5-year-old spent only two days in the care of the Young School at Honeygo Village. Yes, after only two days....my husband and I decided that we had made the wrong choice. We relocated to Maryland four months ago and after some searching, we landed on the YG. Prior to enrollment: 1. there were a number of policies and paperwork to complete. the application is about 4-5 pages long and we completed the one that was given to as during the tour, but was later told that it was the wrong one or out-dated so we had to complete a second one. I was annoyed but it wasnt enough to make me not want to enroll. After enrollment/first day: Two days before our start date, i asked who our teacher would be, the staff person didnt know. we arrived on November 1 and it seemed as if they were not expecting us. We got a little help with checkin and then were escorted to the classroom. the teacher who greeted us was SUPER pleasant but asked if we knew who our teacher was and i didnt. neither did she. our son didnt have cubby ready with his name on it. Still, this was not enough for us to be too bothered but we thought that it could have been better. Our son cried alittle and the teacher comforted him and was so caring (thank you Ms. Brittani). I could see all of this from the video. she even suggested a stuffy and family photos for his second day. Second day: we came in with the stuffy and family photos, but our son was having big emotions. he wanted to come home. after my husband and I were trying to calm him down, atleast two teachers mentioned that "IT WAS NORMAL" and/or "HE WILL BE FINE ONCE YOU LEAVE". We stayed with him for about 10 mins but he still was pretty upset once we left. i got back to my car and logged into the camera and saw that my son was escorted out of the room and out of the camera view. Later on, i saw he cam back into the room and seemed to still not be in the best mood but going through the motions of the day. At pick up, multiple teachers mentioned "he did so good today" and "we love him so much". But when my son got home he mentioned that a lady in the office yelled at him to "SIT DOWN". He didnt know her name so i pulled up photos of the staff and he pointed out Stacey. The next morning i arrived to speak to Stacey about the incident. the incident that was not noted in the Sprout app, the incident that no one called me about, the incident that no one mentioned at pick up. Stacey shared that she spoke to my son "in a matter of a fact" ton and that she told him that he was talking and/or acting like a "baby" after he refused to not go outside with his classmates. nothing in their "Reggio Emilia approach" or other resources would suggest that this would be the experience of my son on the second day. Calling an almost 5 year old emotions on his second day at a new school "baby" is not a positive reinforcement. Raising her voice at a level that he was upset and scared to return is an issue. There was no apology, only a "this is what i have said to other kids at the school". My son had a positive experience at his previous school and was excited to start at the YG and make new friends. the teachers were patient and understanding but the director and members of the office staff lacked the ability to control themselves while my son was having big feelings. My son is well-mannered, intelligent, curious, and super helpful. Transition is hard and something i thought that the school was prepared for. yelling at a child and calling them a baby is not acceptable that reason we withdrew. This note is long, but i hope that folks find it helpful.

We love the Young School! Our girls- ages 4 & 3 have attended the Young School in Perry Hall for one academic year as well having attended the school's summer camp. We chose the school based on its values & philosophy & continue to see that the teachers & staff make their best effort to honor it. I feel that the teachers know what my children's individual needs are & make every effort to help promote developmentally appropriate growth in a respectful way. Their evaluations prove to me that they take a unique interest in my children & work to understand their strengths & areas the areas which need nurturing & growth. Our girls have had tremendous social growth since over the past year which originally was our goal with having them start school. But we also see growth in areas such as language & mathematics. Our girls love art & Mrs. Shannon does an excellent job creating engaging lesson plans that encourage independence & creativity. We value the effort that is made to plan events that include the community as well as our children's family. For example- recently the school hosted "Grandparents Day" which welcomed families to explore the school & create a craft with their grandchild. Events such as these show me that the school is interested in not only the child- but their family as well. If you are searching for a safe, loving, nurturing environment where the teachers care about each child as an individual but are also fostering their place in our community, this is the school for your family! Our girls have started their second year here & are already enjoying the start of the school year.

My son absolutely LOVES coming to school everyday! There's been a few changes in teachers since he was enrolled last summer, but the transitions are always seamless. The teachers and staff are very caring and genuinely take interest in each child. They keep parents informed of changes and never shy away from difficult conversations. Highly recommend!

The Young School is in a league all their own. From the moment you walk through the doors you can tell it is different from the "typical" early childhood centers. Natural light, plants, open spaces. It feels like a home and less like a school. The majority of the staff has been there well over 5 years, which is HUGE. You can tell the staff is well trained and invested in your child. It is much more than teaching ABC's, which they do, but it is encouraging your child to be creative and really building on their interests. Our daughter has only been at TYS for about a month and a half and we have seen such positive changes in her. So grateful we made the switch to The Young School!

We love this school! The rooms are so warm and inviting with natural wood/plants, and the teachers/staff are all very sweet and attentive- they all seem to know each child by name (regardless of whether the child is in their care or not). School leadership is very communicative and their door is always open to any concerns or questions we have had. Several months into our sons enrollment at the Young School, we were considering moving him to another school because of convenience, as the new school was closer to our home. However, we ultimately decided to keep him at the Young School because we love everything about it- he loves his teachers and he is thriving under their care! They do so many fun, creative activities every day. And a major bonus for us is that we can check in any time during the day via the live app. I can't say enough great things about this school!

We enrolled our daughter at Young School - Honeygo Village Center last August. We have been extremely happy with the quality of the care that she has received. All of the teachers and administrators are extremely nice. The school is clean, warm and inviting. We appreciate the frequent communication we receive throughout the day with updates and love being able to check in and see her on the video stream through the SproutAbout app. It is such a relief to a parent who is new to daycare to know that she is in good hands after we drop her off. We would recommend Young School to anyone in search of child care in the White Marsh area.

Our child attends the preschool program at The Young School-Honeygo Village Center. We are incredibly happy with the care our child receives and the pre-academic and social skill growth we have noticed. There have been several days where our child does not want to leave the teachers and other children. We love the following: all the outside and gross motor time given, child-led projects, clear communication and almost daily pictures, routines that foster independence, safe spaces to take academic and social risks, and the four teachers who all have taken in interest in our child. While the tuition has been an adjustment and requires strict budgeting, we truly believe that we are investing the very best start to our child’s academic career. Our child will continue at the Young School next school year too.

We have had our children enrolled at The Young School for over four years, and we couldn't be happier. The Young School has done a wonderful job creating a loving, warm, fun environment that keeps my children safe. My children love going to school each day, and as a parent, it's so reassuring to take them to a place where they are truly cared for and known by all of the teachers and staff. Throughout it all, they are both receiving an excellent education! As parents, we couldn't ask for more in a school for our young children. I highly recommend The Young School!

By far the best daycare option for my toddler. She’s a “pandemic baby” with little socializing with children her age. She started at 9 months and now almost a year later she is still thriving there. The curriculum, teachers, staff and environment are all fantastic.

I really tried my best to give this school a chance. Working in the school system as a counselor, I understand things get busy but this was way more than that. I literally felt like I was constantly messaging the director to get in contact with how to follow through with enrollment. I kept an email chain of when I started inquiring which was in May. I finally was given the chance for my daughter to tour last week but after the tour nothing was said until I asked when I could expect to hear back in regards to enrollment. I was told by the end of last week which of course , I didn’t get any email or follow up even after I wrote a thank you for allowing us to tour email and looking forward to proceeding. The director made up several excuses , while some may be valid , such as new management and new procedures. There is no way it should be me constantly emailing for now almost 3.5 months to even begin the enrollment process. I was willing to pay the high price tag because I thought the school’s philosophy was great but truly turned off. As the admin of a Baltimore group for mom’s of toddlers with over 550 members, I have shared their open houses multiple times. I can no longer support this school nor do I wish my daughter to attend such a school.

We looked at a number of different options for daycare and The Young School was the obvious choice. Children are encouraged to play and learn and get messy in a fun, open environment. The teachers are friendly and excellent with the children. I know my son and daughter have learned both academically and socially with the many programs, field trips, and activities. You will have a great experience here!
