“Another governance structure spot on Georgia Ave. Recently I went to purchase a couple of books from them when the author would be present for an event I was unable to attend. I was able to purchase the books and get them signed by that author! Great customer service and beautiful ambiance.”
“Super cute bookstore located in a vibrant district. The staff was friendly and helpful. I got swept away with reading all the staff reviewed books. Highly recommend spending a little time in this store and the surrounding neighborhood.”
“Lovely book shop focused on food-related books. The cookbook selection is amazing. Staff is super friendly. Their events are great, I joined a bake club recently and the atmosphere was super nice.”

600F H St NE, Washington“great bookstore, lots of options and space is great. there is a coffee and bar area. tables to do some work if needed. staff was great and helpful. its in H street so parking can be challenging but worth a visit! check em out!”
“Had no idea this store existed (to be fair, I rarely venture to Eastern Market and had not been south of F St in years) but I am so happy it does. A great selection of books from every genre. Heavy focus on LGBTQ+ authors and stories but they don’t limit themselves to that at all. And the employees are very kind and helpful to boot.”
“Our visit today to Al-Hikma book store proved to be an extremely enlightening and enriching experience. We delved into the vast ocean of knowledge, exploring a wide array of books from various countries and subjects. I had the privilege of engaging in a conversation with the esteemed owner, Mr. Alsadawy, who graciously offered his invaluable assistance. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment, particularly to our younger generation, as it provides an exceptional opportunity for intellectual growth and exploration.”

645 Pennsylvania Ave. SE #100, Washington“I found this bookstore via their website. They are one of the few independent bookstores that actually allows you to order directly from them on their website (others redirect you to a book warehouse website that shares profits with the bookstore you shop at but takes some too). They only had one of three books I was looking for in stock, but allowed me to order the others. The books only took 2-3 days to all come in and I received notifications via my preferred contact option. It was so convenient and seamless!I went to the store on a Sunday to pick the books up. I was greeted immediately by a member of their team. She had my books ready and waiting. We talked about one of the books and others … which prompted my sister to start browsing and she found three books for herself ?. This is a lovely bookstore with a good selection, friendly staff, and was a great experience online and in store. I will be coming back for my future book needs!”
“My dog and I visited on a Saturday afternoon and the place was packed, but staff was still fabulous. For such a small space, they fit a great selection of new releases, and even gorgeous editions of Penguin classics. I'd probably have stayed and ended up buying more than just one book had it not been so busy - I *love* bookshops like this one and my dog very much appreciated how welcome she was made to feel as well. :)”

2800 Clarendon Blvd Suite 500, Arlington“Amazing location in middle of a shopping center. Up to date with new releases! There is a parking garage right next to the store with hourly costs. Street parking is available with cheaper price, free on weekends!”
“Absolute knock-out bookstore. Always find nice surprises. They have bargain book section along with “new arrivals” section. They have well-curated selection of every section of subjects. Best bookstore in town. Fair prices.”

2814 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington“Wow! What a great selection! A great spot for uncommon books (especially music, philosophy, literature, poetry,) many from smaller publishers. I would guess that anyone could find something of interest. Great atmosphere and music too.”
“A great local bookstore and cafe. Came on a Sunday right after opening and it was nice and warm (in a chilly day) a few people here which made for a really nice breakfast where I could read some books and drink tea. No downsides to this great shop. They had great music (soft) playing in the background and had great seating options lining the windows (lots of light and great for people watching) and At least ten tables for outdoor seating Highly recommend getting anything with the house made biscuits. I got to breakfast sandwich with bacon and it was overflowing with egg (yum)”

1555 King St, Alexandria“The cutest little bookstore in downtown Alexandria. They have lots of books for kids, adults, and everything in between. They even have a small cozy reading section. The staff are friendly and provide any help needed, even ordering books if needed. The prices are very comparable to your big box stores, but going to a mom and pop place.”
“Bought some sandals at the Nordstrom in Tyson’s corner yesterday. The salesman Norvelle told me what he was wearing because I said he smelled amazing. Told me about this place and went immediately after! I only wished I lived in the area and not in another state! This place is theee bomb!!”

“Solid State's second location, this one along 14th Street NW is big with every section of books imaginable, including a large kids section in a he back. They also sell local gifts.”
“Always a great neighborhood kind of place - reasonably priced, great food in a place that feels like a throwback to a neighborhood diner. Great for breakfast (Eggs in Purgatory - a must) afternoon snacks and sweets (the giant chocolate cake and all sorts of espresso and coffee drinks) and dinner (the Brussel Sprouts are amazing) - fast, efficient but friendly service staff and outdoor seating is a must when the weather is great!”
“Great independent bookstore with an awesome selection of books (and a back room full of kids books, too)! Staff is always friendly and helpful with recs and staff picks. Cute selection of gifts and cards at the front. Our favorite bookstore in DC!!”
“Today I visited the Basilica of The National Shrine to look for gifts and to enjoy the beauty and serenity of this amazing temple. Of course I spent more time than I intended but it was well worth it. I found out that the gift shop opens at 9:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm. Between the shrine and the gift shop one can easily spend all day.”
“Review based solely on my online orders. I’ve purchased Al’Ard olive oil and a kuffiyeh. Shipping & delivery on the olive oil took a little long and it was routed incorrectly, but that isn’t on the store, but USPS. The keffiyeh was shipped & delivered so quickly after my purchase. The quality is beautiful. Will definitely check out their brick & mortar store, but I highly recommend their online store as well.”

1025 King St, Alexandria“As I was "Window Shopping" in Old Town Alexandria, I saw this book in the window ...Surviving Depression & thought maybe that book could help me get through the depression I'm having after loosing my son to suicide. After talking with Sister Cynthia, she pointed out the other 2 books & donated the Psalms Bible to me, she also stated there was a chapel upstairs if I needed some alone time (I did go up there & it was very peaceful & it's exactly what I needed .. some alone time with God). ❤️I'm not Catholic but I am a Christian, I absolutely loved this bookstore and the people who worked there, I will be back! Thank you so much for listening to me & letting me shed some tears, about my son Zachary, with you. ?God Bless you, Sister Cynthia ❤️?”
“I love the Barnes & Noble bookstore. The young staffers were helpful, and the size of the store provides space for a wide variety of licensed merchandise. I would have appreciated more items branded with Howard University instead of Howard Bison. That's a personal preference. I'm sure they carry what the majority of their shoppers prefer.”
“This is a really cool local bookstore that carries a wide variety of options. The staff were nice as well. I do wish they had wifi to connect to because I was trying to access my lists on Goodreads to narrow down my selection before purchasing.”
“This store is really very small but they do have a delightfully diverse stock of books — not every shelf is full, though. They have good public events, but the chairs they use for the public events are, bar none, the most uncomfortable chairs I've ever sat in. Get more books and better chairs!!!”
9AM - 5PM
3800 Reservoir Rd NW, Washington“This place is a good and quiet. Ground floor is 3 rd floor. Staff was very helpful. Was clean, plenty of computers for campus students to access. You can even digitize any book you might need. And transfer to you device.”
“Great range of items here to suit many pockets!! Whether your an alumni, student, parent or just an AU fan, definitely will pick up something. Staff are super helpful and if its not in stock, you can order online, get it shipped or collect.”
“BOMB bookstore, with an incredible array of Black authors in poetry, history, fiction, kids books, and way more, including gifts (mugs, tshirts, magnets).Very well curated selection with something for everyone. Love supporting a local business and highly recommend to anyone in the Anacostia area.”
“CIC is a spiritual oasis in the city. You can attend daily Mass, browse and buy books and gifts or attend one of their community events. Be sure to check out their "lifetime reading plan" recommendations!”
“Big selection and variety of item such as crystals, statues, incense, candles, herbs, etc. The customer service is also really great. Highly recommend checking out”
“I've never been to their storefront but have enjoyed buying from their online shop. They have a great selection and I've found lots of great novels in addition to non-fiction books. They've stocked everything I've been online to look for. Online ordering is easy and they ship out quickly.”
