“Conveniently located but it goes beyond that. My wife and I were fostering a dog, I came here with a few questions. The gentleman behind the counter came around and showed me options for a teething puppy. He was very friendly, didn't try to hard push anything, and seemed to actually care by asking questions and engaging with me. Was very nice to experience because you don't find this in many places these days. Will be back
And the puppy LOVED his recommendation (and found his forever home)”
“After a long day of Nasty attitudes at every pet appointment of the day I decided to get my pup a bone. When I tell you Pets Are Home was the Rainbow at the end of a storm. From the cleanliness to the staff being so helpful there’s absolutely nothing to complain about, let’s not forget the pricing being very reasonable. As I’ve gone other places and asked for help with certain things they’ve rudely told me to Google; not here though.
The owner was so kind to both me and my pup And helpful with all questions and also gave suggestions and gifted a few sample products. Thank you guys keep up the great work! Small business big heart!”
“The nicest shelter I've ever seen! I volunteer here and am constantly amazed at how unbelievably clean and well-maintained it is for the animals! The animals are treated like royalty, even though they might not feel like royalty, since they are in a new, loud environment. But I can assure you they are extremely well cared for: a very tough feat when you have hundreds of animals at any given time. This is a tight-run ship and the county does a great job here.
The adoption side of the building is very welcoming, clean, and staff are always helpful. I can't speak to the animal service side of the bldg, but I can't imagine it being much different. That side has a walk-in "pantry" where county residents can get free pet stuff (food, gear) any time. You just walk in.
The adoption side has a number of weeks during the year where there is no fee to adopt! Most dogs at the shelter are larger ones. There's a "small dog room" and those dogs tend to get adopted quickly.
Please adopt, don't shop! There are so many fantastic animals here and they all need homes.
Just FYI: If you come to browse adoptable dogs, there's no way to have 100's of dogs in an area and it NOT smell like dogs, or have lots of barking noise.
Highly recommend this shelter! Best facility and staff Ive ever seen at any type of shelter or county facility.”
“I just picked up my little girl from Elysiem. Yvette did a fantastic job! She gave my Phoebe a summer trim and left her looking like a little stuffed animal. She looks ADORABLE!!! I love the attention, gentleness and FANTASTIC job. I highly recommend.”
“Lots of variety on products for all types of animals. Also, they sell live animals and fish. Not a lot of staff available to help immediately but you will find someone to help.”
“These folks are the best. They tackle all of our rough collie's mats and tangles without shaving or hacking away at everything. He comes home looking shiny and gorgeous, with a natural looking cut and all the shedding undercoat gone. He's so much more comfortable. It's lovely!”
“I've been shopping at Petsmart forMANY years, for all of my furbabies, they have the foods that I feed them, all of the supplies, and the grooming salon is great.”
“This store has been a fixture in Highland for decades. You can find everything you need from horse feed to cat toys. Beautiful outdoor decor. And some really unique indoor items too. When I want something special I know where to go.”
“The vet was amazing as were the vet techs. My only minor complaint was the wait to check in but I totally understood why once I got up to check in and all my questions were answered thoughtfully and throughly.”
“I’ve donated and volunteered there since 2008. Brian knows more about parrots than anyone I’ve met in over 30 years of animal rescue. The parrot industry is unregulated and lucrative and greedy breeders will sell a bird to anyone regardless of whether they understand the responsibility and work that comes with having a parrot as a pet. These birds live the lifespan of a healthy human, and since most of these birds are the result of failed homes, Brian is extremely careful about who adopts them. His requirements are stringent, but they are in the best interest of the bird. When you volunteer you not only bond with the bird, learn how to care for it, prove that you know what you are doing, and it really helps the Foundation. Brian is partially disabled and volunteer help is really important in managing a flock of almost 40 birds. Some of these birds have been abused, neglected, or abandoned and as one of the most intelligent species on the planet, their trauma has to be dealt with using love and consistency. Their beaks are sharp and if you don’t know what you’re doing, it’s dangerous to you and the bird. Brian is a true parrot whisperer who has really been able to rehabilitate the most traumatized animal and he is careful in rehoming. You can spend thousands on a bird or do the work with WPF and have a wonderful companion for free. Adopting a parrot isn’t like getting a cat or a dog and it takes dedication and patience all too many people don’t have. I wholeheartedly recommend WPF.”
“Most of the time they have what I need. Sometimes it's hard to find someone to help you. It's almost like when you goto Home Depot and you need someone to help you but no ones anywhere to be found and you spend what feels like hours trying to find someone to help.... Which is very annoying but that's not really Petco's fault. It's the people who work there and Petco is just short handed ... So you just gotta take the good with the bad sometimes...”
“My dog has loved the training classes he took with Leslie over the past year. He misses the classes and still wants to go back to the “classroom every time we go back!”
“I have been a client for nearly 30yrs. Richard installed our original fence and system, helped in pet fence training, and has maintained and repaired it for us over our 7 dogs and 1 cat who have lived with us and been on the invisible fence over this time, which had kept them safe from the road and adjacent risk locations. We greatly appreciate Richard’s prompt and professional services and support. He has been a great resource and we highly recommend his services!”
