Pet Care
Town & Country Animal Clinic
2715 Olney Sandy Spring Rd, OlneyMy wife and I have been clients of Town & Country Animal Clinic in Olney for a few years and are so pleased with their excellent care and service. Yesterday, after much agonizing, we took our beloved Teddy (Wheaten Terrier - 14 years) for a consultation with Dr. Wilmot before having him put down. I called for an appointment yesterday morning and they were completely booked for the week but the very competent and caring lady on the phone (Christina, I believe) said she would check with the vets on duty and call me back, which she did a few minutes later. I arrived at 11:45 and put in a room with my dog until the vet came in and spent a lot of time speaking with me and my son before we collectively arrived at the decision to put him down. I am so grateful and appreciative for their caring service, from start to finish. Thank you!

My Vet Calls
16916 Vine Ct, OlneyWhen I needed a vet to come and care for my geriatric cat, I went through a list of 7 potential companies and vets and called them all to request appointments. Of this list; 2 answered to say they did not do house calls; I left messages (emails and voicemails) for 4; and only 1, Dr. Perl, returned my call and came out. I am so glad he did. He is professional and friendly, and makes you and your pet feel safe and warm. He was able to quickly analyze the situation and explain it in clear terms. Unfortunately my cat is not going to live much longer, but he gave good advice that ensured I was not going to put my cat through any further discomfort or trauma or unnecessary treatments. I know from past experience that taking my cat to certain emergency hospitals would result in the opposite. Dr. Perl is so good that I would happily pay more for his type of service. The only reason I was hesitant to write a review is because he is already in high demand - but this means he needs an assistant! If you know a good vet who would like to join a wonderful doctor, send them to Dr. Perl!

Pet-Friendly Restaurants
Mackie's Barbecue & Bar
5500 Olney Laytonsville Rd, OlneyThis was a very good experience. I'm from the deep south so I know southern food and good barbeque, I also know some spaces can be less inviting than others to certain people. This location is a win win. Great food, extremely welcoming and friendly environment.StaffThe staff is extremely professional and friendly, this was our first time at this location so I wasn't clear on the formalities with ordering, seating and getting needed items. The staff was amazing. For other goings tips: you seat yourself, but order at the register. You also can grab plates, napkins, sauces and any other items you need at a bar area. Leave your trays after eating and the staff will take care of it.AestheticVery nice and extremely clean. It's a modern western vibe. A bar on one side and a dining area on the other, you will hear joy, lots of laughing, Happy staff and Happy customers. Very nice restrooms, I always check the upkeep of the bathroom It says so much about the overall restaurants cleanliness.FoodThis spot is it!!! So far I've had ok southern food since in MD all the spots that call themselves southern are commercial and franchised, this was a big surprise. We ordered im assuming you would call it a small family serving:Around $451/2 pound pulled chickenhalf ribsbaked beansmac and cheeseside of rolls (4).3 bottle waters2 adults and 1 kid (elem aged) were beyond full, the portions were generous. The only reason I didn't go 5 stars was because there were no veggies (beyond a salad) on the menu which was shocking some green beans, sweet potato or something leafy (collards, kale etc) would have been amazing. To be fair they do have slaw and potatoe salad but I'm talking hot veggies.Overall I definitely recommend this location and we have added it to our list for top area favorites.Kid-friendliness: Nice family vibe on the dining side and very inviting.
