The customer service is very bad, the receptionist has a very bad character and the rooms are very neglected and are very old.

Very old and quaint but I slept well and it's a fantastic location. Very clean room, no complaints at all except it's a little hard to find.

Over view: This place was an absolute gem. This place is for people looking to enjoy the beach and definitely not for rowdy partiers. The rooms are roomy and small, but everything is clean and works. So Essentially, you are getting what is described.
Pros: Cleanliness, location, staff, balcony view, private parking, nice bed, great water pressure, clean room, great room security.
Cons: Just small things: The shower curtain is not waterproof, you hear everything going on at the boardwalk, the sink is outside of the bathroom, it is an older building so everything is steps.
Rooms: The rooms are small, and you get what you paid for, there is no safe, but the rooms are locked, the lamps and lighting works, the toilet flushes and the shower has great pressure. Also, the floor is clean, that can’t be said about many hotels.
Safety: Even though the doors are always open, because of the kind of clientele rooming nearby, I didn’t feel unsafe or afraid In any way.
Walkability: You are right in the middle of everything, so when you step outside, you are a few blocks away from the amusement park.

We just got back from a night here and I can't say it enough. We LOVED our stay. It's a 100 year old place so some things may look old but dont let it fool you. The staff was nice, our room was clean, the sheets and towels smelled amazing, our room was equipped with everything we needed, and the view was amazing! We CANNOT wait to stay here again. It'll definitely be our go-to spot now.

Staff very friendly and took care of any issues we had. For instance, the AC was not working well in one of our rooms. I brought it to their attention and it was replaced first thing the next morning. Breakfast selection was great including the coffee. Only thing that could make it better is eggs and home fries. Also, great location on the board walk for more mature visitors and families, away from the hub bub, but close enough to walk, if you're able. Beds in rooms aren't too bad. The lobby is also really nice to relax in and let the kids play with the toy train set. We'll be back.
Updated review years later... As everyone else says, the new owners have ruined the place, the staff is rude and unhelpful and they need to update their apartments, not their lobby! 2023 was our last year staying at this place and we used to stay every year... Sad!

My family has been coming here 10+ years and I personally enjoyed my stay because we always get the same “apartment.” If you rent a room in the actual hotel it will most likely be different since there’s been a change in management. Unfortunately, there is no more free breakfast or cozy lobby, it’s just a front desk now.
Service with the desk is a hit or miss because sometimes you’ll have to wait 15+ minutes or there’ll already be someone there. I will compliment how the actual furniture/place hasn’t changed and there is always utensils and dishes provided! The view is beautiful as always and it’s in a very convenient location on the boardwalk — pretty much in the middle.

This is the perfect spot - right on the board walk and steps from the beach. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite which came equipped with a full kitchen, which came in handy because eating out can get super expensive! The hotel isn't fancy, but it was charming and the staff were very nice. I highly recommend this spot!
Quick note - bring your own hair dryer, as this hotel does not supply one. There is a coffee maker (drip) in the room, but you need to bring your own coffee. If you need an iron, you can get one at the front desk. Wi-Fi is not great.
Nearby activities: Jolly Roger at the Pier, Ripleys, there is a tram that will take you up and down the boardwalk for a small fee.
Walkability: In the middle of the action and steps from the beach.

My family of 4 has been visiting the Lankford Hotel 10+ years. We miss the old style family owned atmosphere. The old lobby was beautiful, I.e. snacks, coffee, board games for the kids, etc. The new owners have replaced this with an obnoxious bakery type business, right in the lobby! By the way, 2 large black coffees cost me $10, with tip! There is no coffee in the rooms anymore and no coffee available for free in the lobby. No free breakfast. The rooms are the same, no upgrades at all but decent and clean. The TV didn't work, i.e. no signal. There's still land line phones in the rooms, not sure why. All a money making grub fest. We won't be returning, sadly.
Noteworthy details: Not a likable place like it once was due to changeover in ownership.

Good luck getting a refund!! I had to cancel a reservation and have been waiting for a refund for a month. I've been trying to call for a week to find out what's going on but all I can get on the phone is their reservation service. They pass a message along and say someone will get back to you on 24-48 hours. Well....no one ever calls. Worst customer service EVER. I WOULD NEVER STAY HERE!!

Location, room, parking and staff great. My only issue is I left some of my grandson’s clothes in the room. I have called 4 times to “reservations” and left 3 reports. I’m always promised a call back or email within 24 hours. I have received nothing. Bottom line….don’t expect any help after you leave. Lesson learned for PopPop here. :(

WARNING ⚠️⚠️⚠️ STAY AWAY
I booked a three night stay and gave a deposit then I needed to cancel and I did within the grace period allowed but the lankford never refunded my deposit.
After days of back and forth my credit card company refunded my money to me. So I guess the lankford is in the business of renting rooms and stealing deposits!!

All around, great hotel. Super affordable & comfortable - they even have a café downstairs!!!!
Rooms: Rooms are super nice and comfortable, for a group of much larger ppl though it could potentially be an issue
Nearby activities: Starbucks around the corner, its ON THE BOARDWALK, and it takes abt 2 minutes to get to the beach.
Safety: safest I've felt in a vacation hotel tbh
Walkability: you can walk to boardwalk and starbucks and it's very nice. but NOT accommodating to handicapped people or ppl with other disabilities harming walking. There are no elevators.

We really enjoyed our 5 night stay at the Lankford! The location was perfect, right in the middle of the boardwalk. There was nothing fancy about the room, but it was clean with a nice view of the ocean. As in the description, it was a small room with 2 twin beds, but there were only 2 of us, so that was fine. I’ve read some complaints about the music from the restaurant downstairs, but it didn’t bother us at all. Also, that restaurant makes fantastic margaritas!
The room we were in had a good ocean view. If you don’t have a view, there is a porch to sit and enjoy the scenery. The staff was polite, and the room was pretty quiet.
My only complaint might be the humidity in the room. With the A/C on it wasn’t hot, but our towels and swimsuits never dried. Also, others may want to note that there is no hair dryer. The only daily cleaning was replacing towels and emptying garbages, so really no frills.
Overall, I would certainly recommend the Lankford as a relatively inexpensive place to stay if you’re looking for somewhere on the beach!

This hotel had bedbug when we checked in so we left. I have tried for 2 weeks now to get in contact with them to get a refund and they will not return my calls. The inky number they have if for reservations and they have to submit a "case" for the hotel ro get in contact back with me. Going on 2 weeks I have called everyday. I haven't gotten even an email from them.
