“Good location and clean hotel but I was not entirely happy with my visit. Family trip this past weekend. We booked 5 rooms. If you are booked into room 621, please be aware that the balcony has an obstructed view. If you care about your balcony view, this room is not for you. Your primary view is of the roof next door. Also, this room is next to the "Linen" room and housekeeping is in and out of there in the morning. If you plan on sleeping in, prepare to be disturbed by the bustling next door. Also, I paid $53 for early check-in and access to the parking lot. I was told that early check-in started at 1:30 and regular check-in was at 4pm. Two other members of my party arrived before 4pm (around 1:15 and 2:30) and were able to access their rooms even though they did not pay for early check in. Is paying for early check-in a real thing or a scam? Finally, we wanted to eat at the hotel after checking out at 11. Even though early check-in doesn't start until 1:30pm, we were told that we could not remain parked in the lot while we ate breakfast and had to find parking on the street. We left and ate breakfast somewhere else.

Walkability: Direct access to boardwalk and beach”

“Khaleel Collick was very quick to get fresh coffee upon requests. We were there 2 nights. I'm an early bird ~4am.....looking for hot coffee. I had asked him about it, he jumped up and told me, it only takes me 6 minutes to make! He was very polite and respectful. This is so hard to find theses days. It was a very nice stay.

Nearby activities: It was only a couple blocks walk to the boardwalk in Ocean, City MD. Good price, basic hotel.....it was all that we needed.”

“Not your typical aloft room design (IYKYK) which is very refreshing. Very comfortable room with a bay view. A not so comfortable sofa bed where you can feel the frame thru the think mattress which is on par. Hotel shares a parking lot with some other businesses. A $20 parking fee with designated parking for guests. Overall a decent hotel stay that I would stay at again.”

“Excellent “retro” efficiencies have all you want and more. 2 queen beds a sleeper sofa and kitchenette for a very low price.

Their customer service is top notch.. my cell phone charger fell apart in one of my rooms outlets and they didn’t hesitate to give me a brick to charge it.

Coffee available in the morning is free and fresh. The pool in the courtyard is small but adequate. Its location at 124th street puts you closer to Fenwick, Bethany, Dewey and Rehoboth than if you stayed closer to the boardwalk.

I’m definitely planning to make this place one of my top choices!!!”

“The hotel itself is a good value. The staff, every single person is polite that works here. The rooms are are dated. It’s a three star hotel. I would stay here again except the parking lot is too small and cars are almost touching each other side-by-side. That’s the bigger downfall. We had two rooms, one had decent bed. The other one had a sponge for bed. Overall, good experience, you could save money by staying here, but I don’t know if it’s worth it.”

“Had an enjoyable week's stay in one of the 2-person maximum rooms. These rooms are located in the "creekside" building, which I found preferable because it's farther back on the property, (so fewer people drive past this building), away from the road, and had a great view of Herring Creek.
Very clean, "old school" motel building, one of two motel buildings on the premises, along with several cabins of various size. This is a park at your door style, or walk-up to second floor, which I requested (and that request was honored.) Neat & tidy all around. Older facility, but charming and maintained. Room was very tiny, as I expected from the pics on the website, but cozy and attractive, and had everything I needed. It had a very good size window which is right beside the bed; I am glad my room was situated so I had the creek view while lying on my bed. I do wish it had the ability to open, for fresh air, with a screen. The noise of the AC unit got a little monotonous at times, but it was stuffy if I turned it off, even when it cooled down at night.
The whole property/grounds felt like camping without camping. I loved the smell of campfire smoke from firepits in the evening...I enjoy camping so that was a plus for me. The pool was larger than I expected and open until at least 9 PM. I loved the waterfront areas, picnic tables, firepit, and chairs down on the dock. I'd love to come back and stay in a cabin, and try a renting a kayak, which I never got around to doing.
I liked that this facility is slightly removed (by under 2 miles) from the very busy, bustling OC areas. Coming 'home' from outings into OC felt like returning to a relaxing, quiet camp, with plenty of open space & nature. I never took the shuttle into OC, choosing instead to drive, because even in season (last week of June) I never had a problem finding free parking everywhere I went. The traffic (which I had heard is terrible in season) was non-existent. Or perhaps I'm just accustomed to more traffic.
The staff was very helpful. I had an incident with my debit card being compromised while on vacation (NOT here... I suspect it was skimmed at a gas station) and Jaden in the office was a wonderful help. He listened carefully & with concern, quickly understood the slightly complex situation which caused me to lose phone use & the ability to access my funds, to use an ATM, or even make a phone calls! He understood and went above and beyond to help me resolve the issue when I was in a bind. That's excellent customer service! Thank you, Jaden! He's quite an asset to Beach Bum West- O and I won't forget your kindness at a stressful time! The housekeeper was friendly and emptied garbage and brought fresh towels every day. (They did not make up the bed, however, which I found to be a little strange, but no big deal.) When my curtain rod fell down (screws stripped out of sheetrock) maintenance responded very quickly and fixed it. The young woman who greets and runs the grab 'n' go breakfast was always pleasant and has such a warm, pretty smile & demeanor.
The only thing I disliked was that people smoked outside their rooms, on the little bench beside their door. People who stayed next to me even left a cup of cigarette butts on the bench. It's supposed to be a no smoking facility, and I'd expect that to include the areas outside one's door.
I recommend Beach Bum West-O highly to anyone who loves a low-key, not glitzy but sufficient and CLEAN, relaxing home-base to stay, close to the beach. Attached are a few pics- view directly from my bed (not zoomed & then zoomed in to the view of the waterfront.)”

“Very nice hotel! Older but well kept. Location, staff awesome.Only minor complaint was some hairs in bathroom when we arrived and after room service otherwise clean. Parking could be enforced as small vehicles supposed to park in garage and vehicles in no parking tow zone not towed. Need more of the front spots as handicap parking. We have a van with handicap plates and had to park in garage. All minor things, we really enjoyed our stay! Ice cream shop and coffee shop really overpriced! Pizza shop and restaurant for breakfast not bad.”

“I have stayed at this hotel previously and it was so great that I booked it again. There was an issue with the reservation so I called in and Sade at the front desk was so helpful! Her customer service is top notch, she was friendly and communicated with me every step of how she was helping. I liked this hotel before but now due to Sades willingness to go above and beyond to help this will always be my first choice when in Ocean City!”

“Over view: This place was an absolute gem. This place is for people looking to enjoy the beach and definitely not for rowdy partiers. The rooms are roomy and small, but everything is clean and works. So Essentially, you are getting what is described.

Pros: Cleanliness, location, staff, balcony view, private parking, nice bed, great water pressure, clean room, great room security.

Cons: Just small things: The shower curtain is not waterproof, you hear everything going on at the boardwalk, the sink is outside of the bathroom, it is an older building so everything is steps.

Rooms: The rooms are small, and you get what you paid for, there is no safe, but the rooms are locked, the lamps and lighting works, the toilet flushes and the shower has great pressure. Also, the floor is clean, that can’t be said about many hotels.

Safety: Even though the doors are always open, because of the kind of clientele rooming nearby, I didn’t feel unsafe or afraid In any way.

Walkability: You are right in the middle of everything, so when you step outside, you are a few blocks away from the amusement park.”

“We loved this hotel so much that we came back a month later to enjoy it some more! The room we had was very spacious and the balcony was huge with a great table that had 6 tall chairs for gazing at the sea, the sky, the boats, and the sun bathers! I recommend booking directly with the hotel. They are very friendly, responsive, and professional, and they answer the phone when you call them. Built about 5 years ago, the building is in excellent condition too!”

“After horrible hospitality and refusing to be accommodated at the Best Western, we came to Fenwick Inn to last minute book a room. The Fenwick Inn delivered nothing but the best our entire stay, and this will be our new ocean city pick from here on out. The room was clean, noise free and breakfast was one of the better hotel breakfasts I’ve been to. The bar & the restaurant are amazing to where I was still talking about the mashed potatoes I ate there, a week later. Rooftop lounge is also great and so was the pool/hot tub, we will be back during the 2025 season! Thank for turning our horrible vacation upside down!!”

“We were here for one night to attend the White Marlin Open. We were able to check in early and guided to the event by the gentlemen at the front desk. The room was clean and we had no issues. Great location to the boardwalk or any other thing you wanted to attend. Just park the car and walk.”

“If you’re looking for an affordable vacation hotel with amazing scenery of the ocean, not to mention, most of the time, a quiet stay, then this is your hotel choice!

With nine floors, a pool outside and instead along with a hot tube for those late nights, coffee in the lobby, a gym area, Starbucks right outside the parking lot, and a bar and a restaurant right outside the boardwalk exit, this hotel has it all. Booking a double room with an ocean view, it was a pleasant stay with numerous accommodations in the hotel such as utensils, a dishwasher, a sink, an oven, and a TV.

The room is what you expect, a small kitchen, bathroom, beds, couch, a tv, and a balcony if booked, it’s a delightful place to be during your vacation, and numerous things to do around your hotel area.

Housekeepers will come around your hotel every other day to supply you with clean necessities and are sweet people. With such beautiful amenities and always cool inside whenever you come back from the beach after a hot day, this hotel is a great book for your vacation.”

“The room was wonderful. 100 ft from the boardwalk. It was a beautiful and large room with a nice bathroom. Me and my dog stayed in the room and we loved it. I would recommend safari motel to anyone who would like a nice room close to the boardwalk. JerryRooms: The room was spacious.Food & drinks: Many restaurants nearby.”

“I will say right here that if you are looking for a fancy hotel full of amenities, this place is not for you. If you are looking for a place that is reasonably priced, and clean where you can sleep and shower, this is a good place to consider.

If you are a family on a budget, this hotel has a small private beach area complete with a small playground set, picnic tables and chairs to sit and watch the boats go by. You can even fish off the bulkhead wall. There is also a pool for days when you don't want to go to the beach.

The staff are friendly and helpful. During our last stay, 24 hours after we arrived we had to go home due to an emergency. The manager was very gracious and charged us only for the one night we stayed and offered us either a refund of the rest of our money (we paid ahead) or to roll it over to another stay (we chose to roll over to another stay).

When we first stayed here last year, we were coming from another no frills hotel that we had stayed at for over 10 years. Most of the reviews at the time were a bit mixed, with most complaining that the rooms are outdated, which doesn't matter to us. We had always passed this place and always thought it was a neat place and decided to give it a try. We are glad that we did.”

“Have been staying here for 10+ years. The staff is friendly and the rooms are quaint. There is no better place on the boardwalk that has better access to the tram and the beach.”

“Rooms: So for our room you walked in had a tile entrance that had the sitting room with a TV attached to that was a bathroom with a shower and a toilet across from the shower and the toilet there was the vanity and then separate from that room behind a door what's the bedroom with two beds and the TV I will say that the AC was a bit noisy and you could hear a lot of stuff from the outside so the walls are not sound insulated but aside from that the stay was stress free the location is good and we had no complaints”

“Staff is super friendly. Had a small incident where my dogs got loud but they communicated with me and I came quick to pick them up. If you want to travel with your fur babies honestly recommend. They are super relaxed and understanding and it's a 5 minute drive from the boardwalk. Second time here and it was a overall great experience.”

“The rooms are small, but doesn’t matter, if your planning on spending most of your time enjoying the beach and all ocean city has to offer. The hotel is a prime location for Beach and Boardwalk. The room was clean had a view of the ocean out the side of the hotel. Plenty of easy parking. Beautiful lobby, complimentary coffee, tea and hot chocolate, offered all day, and a microwave in the lobby. I enjoyed the rocking chairs on the front porch, great spot to watch the sun rise in the morning. Would stay here again.”

“I have stayed here three times over the summer despite the bad reviews. The price is not bad for the location. The quality of the rooms are not going to be like the Hilton, but they were clean, cozy and nice for someone who just needs somewhere to sleep, lounge and get ready!”
