No one showed up to open the bike co-op. Sign says open most Saturdays.

Stopped by on a whim and ended up buying a bike for my daughter and myself. The guy who helped me, unfortunately, I did not get his name was so kind and patient. I even returned and donated two of my child’s old bikes. I highly recommend visiting and donating.

This is a vital community location for cyclists. From the Newbie to Certified hard-core Jock. I visited here for the first time today just from social media references and online referrals. I met 2 of the volunteers who were most welcoming and impressive. They are a wealth of information and motivation and they have encouraged me to donate ($) and find a way to get involved. While they weren't able to solve my problem; fully today, they directed me to a plan and vendors towards my solution. Word of mouth keeps place this this alive therefore here is what I can contribute to this worthwhile community institution. Their prices are most attractive and even now (Covid-19) times they have suggestions where to fulfill your needs. Mark and Matt are great guys I look forward to meeting others associated with the Co-op soon!

This place has low integrity and bad business. I came with my toddler daughter to come and look at a bike there a two weeks ago. I was helped by an elder brother while I waited patiently for the young guy who seemed to be there by himself who was taking every customer EXCEPT me. The elder volunteer helped me more than he did including giving me all the information on the bike I was looking at. After almost an hour and a half of trying bikes and waiting on the guy to get around to me, I settled on a bike I thought was best, however the handle bars grips needed to be replaced because they were messy. The bike was listed for $150, I offered $100 and the young white guy agreed (can't recall his name at the moment) and said that he would fix the bike on Monday for me to pickup. Monday came and he never called. Tuesday came and I called and left a message regarding bike pickup. I didn't get a return phone call until the following Sunday saying he had finally fixed the bike and that now "it's worth the $150" list price after already agreeing to the $100 offer previously. I told him that was not what we agreed on or what I budgeted and he basically acted like the bike was back on the market. I got the sense someone offered more money that was there and he just bumped me to sell to them, which is completely shady and unethical. While it's a co-op I'll still be reporting this distasteful business to Yelp and the Better Business Bureau. It's atrocious this type of behavior and it's a co-op! I will not be back and will certainly let folks know how I was treated with a dismissive attitude and my bike was sold to the next highest bidder.

Helpful people who teach you how to do it yourself. Reasonably priced used parts

Wonderful local spot where you can find a bike for sale or learn to fix up your own bike for free! The other review covers this fine - so I'm just going to note that you should absolutely make sure to call ahead to see if they are open since its entirely staffed by volunteers.

I go regularly to do minor adjustments and always get great help from the volunteers on staff. This place is a gem in Mount Rainier.

After years of paying full fare for new parts for a very old bike every time I had another scrape or theft, I was delighted to find this spot as well as Arlington's Phoenix Bikes. DC has some law against selling used parts but not so, fair Mount Rainier -- the city actually donates the space to this volunteer-run effort. The co-op was founded by a bike whiz who still works the wrenches there and is eager to teach the nuts and bolts of bike repair to anyone who cares to listen. Service and parts a tad more expensive than Phoenix, but still quite reasonable, especially for DC cyclists used to paying a premium at stores in pricey neighborhoods like G-town or Adams Morgan. You can shop for parts and do your own repairs if you're so inclined. Didn't ask if they fix up bikes for sale as does Phoenix; call during their odd hours (Tue 6pm-8:30pm; Wed 6pm-9pm; Sun 1pm-5pm) for more info.
