I can't say enough good things about Taylorsville Veterinary Clinic! My dog Hermes was recently ill, and the entire team went above and beyond to provide him with the best care. They were incredibly thorough in their examination, explained everything clearly, and were patient with all of my questions and concerns. Most importantly, they treated Hermes with kindness and compassion throughout his treatment. truly felt they cared about him as much as do. I'm happy to report that Hermes is back to his old self, and I'm confident he's in excellent hands for any future routine care. Thank you to everyone at Taylorsville Veterinary Clinic!

I have used this vet clinic for more than 20 years. They have reasonable hours and friendly vets and staff. Although they have no overnight care for critically ill animals they can refer you to critical care centers for animals in Frederick MD and Westminster MD. They also have vets who specialize in farm animals.

I went to them with a Momma and puppies. Our last vet had me questioning things, and so I needed a new one. They were fantastic. The babies were not planned or known about, so I was worried about the puppies. They showed me no I'll judgment and treated the Momma babies and me like gold. They helped me every step and were quick and the vet checked the puppies completely and explained things. I will be going back.

I would not recommend if you have a large breed and/or anxious dog. We started coming here 2 years ago and began having problems about a year ago when we adopted our German Shepard.
Even at a very young age (she was small and unthreatening looking) she was treated as if she had malicious intent. I was told after appointments I needed to leave her in the car and come back in to pay because they couldn't have her barking at other dogs in the lobby. Again, she was a small puppy at this point and barked a few times at new dogs or people and then settled back down. We were still in the socializing phase of puppyhood.
Several months later we made an appointment to get her nails trimmed and I could hear her yelping and crying from the lobby. Afterwards I was told "it took 2 techs to pin her down. Don't ever do this agin unless she is medicated beforehand." (A few months later a different vet clinic was able to trim her nails with no problem and unmedicated).
Most recently she was spayed in June. When we brought her back to have the staples removed they attempted to do a checkup on her. While trying to get a temperature reading in her ears it spooked her and she flinched and jumped back. The technician's immediate response was "well we aren't get a temp today because I'm not risking getting bit over that." I felt she was really jumping to conclusions. My dog has never bitten or even attempted to bite anyone. And like many anxious dogs, she was nervous about having a stranger inside her ears.
Lastly, they deemed she wasn't calm enough to even look at her incision let alone remove the staples. It was suggested we come back the next day and have her sedated in order to remove the staples (I'm not sure why this wasn't suggested as the initial course of action considering her anxiety). While frustratingly leaving the patient room I could hear the technician laughing at me as I left. There was no follow up apology regarding her unprofessional behavior.
Overall, they don't seem equipped to handle anxiety or have the patience for it. They seem to increase my dog's anxiety rather than calm them.
We will be switching to a vet that has already proven to be very gentle, understanding to her needs, and easy to work with.

Love their check in and check out procedures, makes things very streamlined and less stressful for the pets. You call from car to check in, then the tech will come out and escort you straight to the exam room, and you can even check out from the exam room as well and then go straight back out to your car. No stressful lobby experience, yay! They are very kind--I have some health concerns and as soon as they saw me in a mask, they offered to put one on too. That means the world to me, so thank you Taylorsville for your kindness to humans as well as animals. Dr. Earp is fantastic with cats, and has cats herself so she knows both the technical side and the personal side, and takes the time to explain everything in detail and keep you the pet parent informed. I actually learned something new from her today too! Definitely recommend!

Dr. Earp is the best. Kind and compassionate. When I moved here 9 months ago, I needed to have my elderly dog put down. Dr. Earp gave us all the time we needed. We laid on the ground with our girl and spooned her. Dr. Earp was lovely. She now sees my collies. She's fun and knowledgeable. I can't recommend her more highly.

Did a wonderful job with all of my dogs, very caring and attentive to my needs, listened to everything I had to say, and didn’t do anything that I didn’t ask for. Loved on my big girl like she was one of their own. She’s getting up there in age so it’s nice to know that she’ll be thrilled to go to the vet since she has to go more frequently now. Prices are reasonable as well. (Pic of my hubby with the kids)
