Very kind and professional front desk staff, excellent techs and doctor! Our cat had to be hospitalized a few times over the past week, and they were very considerate and willing to work with us over cost concerns. They came up with a plan that worked for us, and I felt very comfortable leaving our cat in their care. I would definitely take my animals here again in the future.

Not only was the staff who answered the phone so kind when I was clearly panicked and asking for a same-day appointment, but I brought my cat in knowing that I might have to face my worst fear and say goodbye to my sweet boy. Let me preface this by saying that I have never experienced such heartfelt kindness and genuine compassion from a healthcare provider (human or animal) as I received that day at Mt. Airy Veterinary Associates. Dr. Passmore was so understanding and supportive as I sobbed in the exam room, so gentle and kind to my furbaby, consistently reassuring me, and answering any questions I had along the way. She offered to give me as much space as I needed- asking if I wanted to be alone, wanted to stay for any/all of the procedure, wanted more time with him at each stage, etc. She made it very clear that she wanted to do whatever she could to make this horrible situation as easy manageable as possible for me. She even went so far as to offer me a hug, which I accepted and appreciated more than she could have known. She also walked me out to the main door so that I wouldn’t have to walk through the lobby alone. The amount of compassion she showed me was incredible and truly meant so much to me.

Dr. Brianna and her team are genuinely kind, knowledgeable and caring. I feel comfortable with any recommendation they have ever made. Dr. Brianna has such a wonderful way of explaining things so you have an informed understanding of what’s happening especially in scary situations with your fur baby. They’re never pushy or make you do unnecessary tests or buy things from them.

Would give negative stars if it were an optionOur dog was seen in their office on September 5, 2023 Our dog was experiencing loss of appetite, vomiting yellowish/green fluid and was less active than usual. During our visit we were told that blood work needed to be done and possibly x-rays and an ultrasound to rule out any blockages or issues with our dogs intestinal tract. After examined by the vet, we were told that an x-ray and ultrasound weren’t necessary at this time. They took our dog to the back room for blood work, Subcutaneous fluid injection, Famotidine injection and a Cerenia injection. The vet prescribed a box of Cerenia tablets to start on the morning of September 6, 2023. When we woke up at 4:30 am on September 6, 2023 we found our dog slumped over in her bed with her face pointing toward the floor gasping for air, unresponsive and unable to move. Twenty minutes later she expelled a large amount of blood from her mouth and nose and took her last breath. It was explained to us from other sources that Cerenia should not be administered to dogs experiencing gastrointestinal problems such as bleeding, blockages, or with possible kidney disorders. We feel that the Cerenia injection side effects should have been explained to us and would have never agreed to this if they were up front and explained that death was actually one of the side effects of this medicine. The Cerenia injection should have never been administered without knowing for certain that our dog did not have a blockage or possible gastrointestinal issues. Why would you even administer this drug before even knowing the lab results? Protocol was not followed and we were not informed of the danger that this treatment could cause. We had to watch our dog suffer throughout the last moments of her life. Our dog was able to walk and navigate steps as usual before her appointment and twelve hours later she suddenly took a turn for the worse. We feel our dog was misdiagnosed and there should have been other tests and/or exams performed prior to the Cerenia injection. The office told us we declined the x-rays and they had it as a recommendation on the paperwork. If it was recommended, why did the vet tell us it wasn't necessary? They knew they were wrong and tried to place the blame on us. They were the professionals and unfortunately we took their word in good faith which turned out with a terrible outcome.Update: As you can see to their reply on this review, still trying to shift the blame to us. We followed their professionals opinion and did not decline any tests or services.

We had our first visit for our bunny and they were absolutely amazing. The doctor was the most gentle with our little guy and the receptionists were the sweetest. I highly recommend this office and will definitely be bringing my rabbit back!

It can be difficult to get an appointment. I also felt pressured to have test performed that I rather not have completed. It's also a little frustrating to be put on hold so often because they usually only have one person handling intake and the phones.

Absolutely lack compassion, empathy, and understanding. We did not have the same experience as others posting reviews and all we needed was a script filled requested by our veterinarian. We’re in the middle of relocating and started our cross country trek to our new home. Our movers accidentally threw out our pups ear drops for an active yeast infection. Our vet approved a script and asked us to find a local vet to fill it.We found this location and explained the situation and how the pup was in pain, they refused to fill it since we’re not their normal clients. Then we’re told only way is to set up a new vet visit and have our dog seen as a new patient.Extremely disappointed, doesn’t take much to be compassionate and fill a script at the request of another vet knowing we’re just traveling through. Especially knowing another vet already diagnosed and prescribed some inexpensive ear drops to clear out yeast.

My dog wasn’t feeling well in the morning and I was absolutely hysterical. I walked into Mount airy veterinarian Associates. They saw my dog right away. He really wasn’t doing well and they gave me the option to treat him with medicine and see how he did. They were very kind to me I’d recommend them to anybody I want to thank them again for what they did and how comfortable they made me feel. Thank you.

My wife and I have two dogs and one of them is a sick and unfortunately has to receive routine care. We’ve been to multiple establishments between Frederick area and Northern Virginia. This place is honestly the best. They’re warm, receptive, fair priced and sent us a coupon that saved over $400 on our dog’s medication. On top of everything they trimmed his nails as a complementary service. If you’re thinking of a place to take your four legged family member. This is it.

So happy with my visit with my Rabbit on Nov.3. Hard to find someone to see a pet rabbit. Hopscotch had his foot examined and they trimed his nail. One was in bad shape. The staff was exceptional.
