I had an excellent moving experience. Moses, Tank and Joe moved me during an intense heatwave in an about an hour. I really appreciated it.

We just moved from a house to an apartment and needed some help, we wanted to support local businesses; so after review we chose Charm City Movers. Darryl, Khalil, Henson, and Fetti assisted us with our move. These guys were AMAZING! Not only were they professional and efficient, but they were respectful and kind! They went above what I expected when hiring a moving company. If you want a smooth move you need to use this company!

The second time I moved, I used charm city movers again, because they did a great job the first time. The second time not as much. They left two of my items behind, and then when I mentioned that they were missing (moving from a one bedroom apartment building, so not moving that much stuff!), they made me go back and look for them. I found one item still in the hallway, but my BEDFRAME never made it to my new home. Even though I watched them carry it out of my apartment.
I drove back and forth between the two places, at THEIR request to see if I could find my missing items, which I never could. Their solution to this problem was that some other client wanted them to get rid of a bedframe that was "better than mine" and that was good enough. After asking me to let them know what time I would be available, they never showed up until HOURS later, when I wasn't even home and just left this dusty, dirty, covered with animal hair bedframe leaning against the front of my house. Not only was this "replacement" bedframe very dirty, it was exactly the same as mine (not any better) - but worse, because the wheels were bigger on the bottom and no longer fit in the supports that went with my bedframe. I know this, because they did manage to find ONE WHEEL from my original bedframe.
I am still very disappointed and unhappy with them - and I still gave them a sizeable tip - although that was before I realized that they had left my things behind.
I will NEVER use them again. And can not recommend them to anyone else either.

I had a great experience from start to finish. Darryl, Henson, Khalil and Fetti were my movers. They were available sooner than initially offered and called to see if an early time would work for me. They arrived when they said they would and were polite and professional! I felt like they treated my stuff like their own. Quick, professional, efficient and great!

I hate to leave a bad review, but I had a terrible experience with Charm City Movers and strongly recommend that you look for another company.
My initial impression was good. Their office called me to go over the itemized list and to review the layouts of both places to ensure an accurate quote. My old place was on the 3rd floor, so on my original request, I put 3 flights of stairs. The person I spoke to, Felix, told me that she was changing it to 1 flight of stairs since there were no turns. I was upfront that my apartment was on the 3rd floor, but she said it was ok and would get me a better price. I had also gotten a referral, and she was generally very chummy, so I just accepted it because why not?
When the crew arrived day-of, they said they were not expecting a 3rd floor apartment and would need to call the office because that would add to my final price. I told them that Felix had scaled it back on our phone call. They also stated that I had more boxes than the estimate—this was true, but I had told Felix I wasn’t sure how many I would end up with, and at no point did she warn me there would be an extra cost if I went over. The team said the extras would cost me $7/box, in addition to a threatened upcharge for the stairs which they implied would cost double. Their website promises a “guaranteed rate” and bills themselves as “a company who doesn’t pull your strings with a great sounding estimate only to find out that someone out there didn’t have a clue about quoting.” The team onsite said they would knock down the official cost by $200 if I agreed to tip them $500 in cash.
In retrospect, I should’ve just called the office to settle things even if it meant paying more overall. I considered it, but this happened as soon as they showed up to my house, and I was nervous that they would not treat my belongings respectfully if I said no. (It turns out they didn’t treat my belongings respectfully anyway, but I didn’t know that at the time.) I also didn’t have other options if things fell apart entirely. So, I accepted, but I felt incredibly pressured about it. Maybe the whole company is in on the scam and the movers split the cash with the office, I don’t know.
Other negatives:
* The team seemed very inexperienced. They had no idea how to fold my bed frame even though it’s very simple. They attempted to carry it out unfolded, knocking over several boxes until I ran over and showed them how to hit the giant red button that allows the legs to fold in. They also misplaced the hardware that connects the two halves together and did not inform me when they “reassembled” the bed.
* They did not wrap or protect anything until AFTER they had carried it outside, including two antiques that I had specified were valuable in my original quote. In particular, they got my dining room table stuck in the door, which resulted in a large amount of the wall paint being scraped onto it that I haven’t been able to remove (not to mention the damage to the paint). They dragged my mattress on the floor of the moving truck. I found splinters of wood from a cabinet in the stairwell (again, antique wood, I know beyond doubt what it came from).
* They were extremely unsafe. They slid a very heavy armoire down the stairs by using moving blankets to make a “slide” instead of carrying it. The 1st time it almost squished the bottom guy, and the 2nd time the bottom guy got his feet tangled on the moving blankets and almost fell backwards down the stairs (I grabbed him by the shoulder from the landing above).
* Moving stuff into my new place was a madhouse. Even though most boxes were labeled by floor, they constantly shouted at me about where to put things, then would switch off in between me answering and the item actually being moved. I had to tell them 3-4 times where to put the same box, and stuff still didn’t end up in the right place.
* I gave them sodas, and when they were leaving, the leader of the team just crumpled the half-f

fantastic price on moving out of a 4th story walk-up with no elevator - a task that some other moving companies outright refused. they took care with our items, and they were QUICK - moved it all within less than 2 hours!! would recommend without hesitation, and we will be using them again.

I had a great experience with Charm City Movers! They were able to get all of my furniture into my new row home, even when it looked like some things wouldn’t fit they made it happen! They also carried my very heavy mattress and heavy dresser up the stairs no problem. The moving crew were also very polite, and fun to talk to! In addition, the scheduling and quote was easy and straightforward with no hidden fees. Would 100% recommend this company again.

Charm City helped us move our house today. The whole process of getting the quote, updating needs, and scheduling was really easy (Thanks Andre). On moving day, the actual crew let me know when they would be here, arrived promptly, and got to work! Moses and the crew took care of moving out and in to the new place. They were super efficient and so easy to work with. They took care of our items, and delivered everything quickly and undamaged. The whole move was so much easier with these guys. Thanks!

UPDATE:
To reply to Charm City Mover's feedback in the simplest of ways: if you need a repair specialist on-call for two decades, then maybe you are handling people's furniture poorly. After looking at my call history: The repair specialist called me on a Friday and said they could come out as scheduled on Saturday. I never scheduled anything in the first place, and one-day notice is unprofessional. I just moved into a new house, I cannot drop everything and tend to this with such short notice.
Yes, I did email them and they did ask me for a receipt or some sort of valuation on my lamp. The lamp is 30+ years old from my now-deceased grandfather and a family heirloom at this point. There's a reason I took the care to move it into my new home myself. Yet, it was still broken. Pricing it would be impossible-- thus no receipt followed.
And to say "communication is key" is very, very rich. The employees who broke the lamp did not notify me of doing so during the move-- I found it later in the day after they had left, and they obviously had tried to hide the damage. And it was broken in the basement, not "the hallway" as you state.
Finally, I assure all of the pictures I've attached of damage are from YOUR movers, and they are not a "combination of old and new" scratches. The walls were freshly sanded, painted, and restored before your movers scratched, dinged, and dented them. To have these walls painted were 3x the price of the move, now I will need to spend even more in costly repairs.
ORIGINAL POST:
I am utterly disgusted with the abysmal service provided by Charm City Movers. My experience with them was a nightmare, and I am compelled to share my grievances to warn others of their poor service. Here's a detailed account of the myriad issues I encountered:
Lack of Furniture Protection: Charm City Movers failed to provide even basic protective padding for my furniture items. As a result, virtually none of my belongings were adequately safeguarded during the move.
Damage to Leather Couch: Despite supposedly wrapping my leather couch in shrink wrap, they still managed to tear the bottom of it, demonstrating their negligence and lack of care for my belongings.
Poor Bed Assembly: Their incompetence extended to the assembly of my bed, which they failed to fully put together. The bed wobbled precariously when I first attempted to use it, revealing that none of the screws were tightened—a glaring oversight on their part.
Property Damage: Throughout the move, Charm City Movers carelessly banged into every wall of my apartment and new house, leaving behind a trail of dents, scratches, and scuff marks. Their disregard for property integrity is appalling.
Furniture Scratches: Every wood piece of furniture I own was scratched during the move, further highlighting their careless handling and utter lack of respect for my belongings.
Repeated Wall Damage: I cannot emphasize enough the extent to which they dinged my walls, leaving them in a deplorable condition that will undoubtedly require costly repairs.
Neglect of Personal Items: Even items I moved myself, such as lamps and small tables, were not spared from their incompetence. They managed to break my favorite lamp and attempted to conceal the damage, displaying a shocking lack of honesty and professionalism.
Unprofessional Remediation Attempts: When I sought remediation for the damages, their response was utterly unprofessional. They promised to send a "furniture restoration.” This person called me on a Saturday saying they’d be out later that day. I had no other prior notice, inconveniencing me further and demonstrating a complete disregard for my time and schedule. And this lack of professionalism led me to believe they’d only ruin my furniture further, so I did not pursue this “restoration” option.
In conclusion, I strong

I’m 4 months late rendering a review but I must say from beginning to end Charm City Movers did their very best to assist me with my moving needs. They were compassionate with me and brought me comfort by providing excellent customer service. I thought I had to help with lifting small things but I was told I was in the way. lol. They moved me within 1 hour and the cost was very inexpensive. I will definitely use this company again and have referred them to family and friends.

Charm City Movers were recommended to me by my senior advisor Megan. Planning to move my dad out of my childhood home has been a terribly stressful process. I am ever so thankful for the team at Charm City Movers who made the physical moving of his things easy peasy! I was up against a very short time window because my dad was being discharged from the hospital. Chris gave me a thorough and very reasonable quote, it wasn't the lowest, but I had a feeling I was in good hands. Felix empathized with my situation and provided great comfort, as if I was getting a great big hug over the phone. Finally the moving crew (Tank, Darrick, Daryl and Henson) were very friendly, efficient, careful, professional and AMAZINGLY fast! I can't thank them enough and I would highly recommend this company!
