I just called this number to ask about filling a medication. The woman who answered was overly angry that I had the audacity to call a hospital pharmacy and spoke to me as if I was extremely rude and stupid. She made me repeat myself twice and then asked me exactly WHY do I need to speak to the pharmacy. When I explained my question, she said "Ma'am.. this is an INPATIENT HOSPITAL PHARMACY. You are speaking to HOSPITAL reception and this is for SICK PEOPLE." I started to apologize and tried to explain that they are listed on google as an open pharmacy with that number but she hung up on me. I would not recommend calling unless you need a dose of verbal abuse and shaming filled. This should not be listed at all. Calvert Memorial located inside the hospital and it runs like a normal pharmacy with a phone number that reaches the actual pharmacy counter rather than a very angry hospital reception run by a person who has no business ever speaking to ACTUAL SICK PEOPLE and their worried family members. Yikes.

Took entirely too long to get 1 stitch in my sons head. Been here 4 hours and he just has a gaping wound in his head that hasn't been attended to. And no Trisha B. I will fill out your feedback form. Do better

1 star is 1 too many! Nurses for the most part are great in the ER & after being admitted on the unit. However, 18+ hrs in the ER before having a unit bed for him the 1st time and 13+ hrs in the ER before transport came to take him 1hr away to another hospital for a procedure the 2nd time both for my husband. I completely understand the ER was full both times however this combine with the AWFUL commutation between the hospital & patient is terrible let alone between staff. Then the 2nd time when my husband was transferred to another MedStar hospital I had gone home after hours without knowing when he'd be transferred to get something situated and the hospital was suppose to contact me (they have my info and I am my husbands emergency contact on file) when he was transported yet I got no call. I only knew because of the "find my" apple app I saw my husband's location changed then he texted me. What if he hadn't been able to text me or we didn't share our locations on our phones either each other? Would they have just waited till I came back and found he wasn't no longer there to tell me? NEVER will I recommend going here! It is just where the paramedics took him both times. If you do come here be sure to advocate for yourself and your loved ones! I will say again though that the nurses do their best! They are kind, they come as soon as able when the call button is pressed, they explain as much as they can and spend time with the patients. It's everything else that is awful!

I contacted MedStar St. Mary's after my 70+ year old Dad told me about his experience during an MRI while admitted for pneumonia. I submitted feedback on 2 Nov 23 here: On 9 Nov I received a call from Mr. Mike Hanbury, Director of Imaging at St. Mary's Hospital. He was very concerned about the feedback I had provided and assured me that he had met with the MRI technicians to discuss my feedback and the potential safety issues encountered. Mr. Hanbury was very understanding and took the feedback very seriously. It speaks volumes that the hospital staff are very interested, take action to address your concerns, and to give you a call to let you now that they have done so. While it is understandable that there may be things that don't go perfectly with a patient, it is important that customers/patients/caregivers provide an institution with objective feedback so that they are aware. I sincerely appreciate Mr. Hanbury's and St. Mary's Hospital's concern regarding the whole situation.

Terrible service and care for patients. I had to push the call button at least 5 times over the span of an hour to get 1 response, when I brought up the lack of attention they blamed it on shift change. Even with shift change, they should still respond to a patients call in case of an emergency. When I did call with an emergency a lady responds, says she's going to get my nurse and then comes back 5 mins later without my nurse and hands me the call button and tells me to call if I need anything. Complete disregard for the patient. I hope you never come to this hospital for care again and I will strongly encourage everyone I know and care about to go to a hospital that will actually take care of them.

Personnel show no care for customers/patients time. I have been sitting for over an hour at the lab. Over the phone I was instructed lab appointments were not required, just walk in. This is not the case depending on the required lab work. So after being told incorrect information I have been waiting over an hour to receive a brief about requirements for my lab work, and to have a LM appointment scheduled. Al other patients have been taken prior to simply giving me a brief and an appointment. Prior to coming down I tried calling the lab with no luck.

MedStar St. Mary's Hospital is a disgrace to the community in which it was intended to serve. Not only is it unsanitary, badly staffed, and clearly outdated/unable to handle the needs of a growing population; but it also fails to provide prompt, and basic medical care to patients. Need urgent medical assistance? You're going to be waiting at least 7-12 hours. Want compassion while you're waiting/checking in? The only thing you'll receive is an attitude. I understand that hospital staff can be overwhelmed at times; it's a stressful job, and it's hard to put a smile on all the time... but the least you can do is provide patients the care they deserve. I sat in the waiting room for 4-5 hours before I had enough, and left to seek medical treatment elsewhere. I saw patients who were in visible agony being denied immediate medical attention! It churned my stomach to the point of writing this review, as well as my intention of reporting this hospital to both the Joint Commission, and the respective state board which deals with these matters. I guess it's in their motto... "It's How We Treat People"... like trash

Patient care is terrible. So understaffed they can't provide adequate care. Patient with 188/87 blood pressure had to wait over 2 hours for anyone to address it.

This place is terrible I came here at midnight and I still haven't been seen by a doctor and it's 4 am. This is unacceptable all of my problems have gone away by the time the doctor got to me. IF YOU CAN HELP IT DO NOT COME HERE

Don't even think about going to this ER except by ambulance. I had a complication from an epidural and was advised to go to the ER. I should have turned away when I saw the hallway outside the ER waiting room filled up. I waited 7 hours before I bailed out, and that was after watching others who waited much longer than that for more serious symptoms. I had figured that it would move at least a little bit. During the whole time, I believe that only one person was actually admitted from the waiting room. I understand that there are a whole bunch of factors that delay admission, but 7, 8, 9 or even 10 hours (from what I heard from others) is a bit excessive, and you cannot expect someone to wait that long. It was horrible and I couldn't take it any longer. I was in so much pain and feeling so crappy that sitting there was no longer an option. I felt really bad for everyone else. I will say that the nurses were kind and professional. I felt bad for them as they couldn't do anything about it. The short story is, I know wait times can get long, but the body can only take so much before it becomes unbearable.

Excellent Care!! I took my 80 year old mother to the hospital today because she had a bad fall. The long wait sucked but the level of care she received well made up for it. The triage nurse (Kelly) was absolutely amazing. She took so much time with my mom and stayed involved the entire time we were there. The doctor was so thorough, gentle and kind. He listened well and explained everything. Her attending nurse Gabby was equally attentive. Even the lady at the front desk went out of her way to make sure she was well taken care of.

We went here the other night after a car accident. Yes it took forever (total 6 hours from start to finish - and the only reason for the 4 stars) but once we got in my PA (Chris) was amazing along with our nurse (Heather). Chris was quick to assess the situation and had IVs started almost immediately for my headaches (more like migraines). Heather was hands down the best at putting in my IV (I tend to have issues but she nailed it first time). I felt like my needs were taken care of and I was able to go home to my bed. Thank you Chris & Heather - we couldn't have asked for better professionals.

Poor service, waited in the emergency department for 4 hours waiting to get seen, while waiting I went back to get an IV the lab tech blew through my vein twice. Finally got back to a room awful bedside manners from my nursing staff. It's taken two hours to get an ultrasound and my results back.

Certainly the worst hospital in the United States of America. Might be the worst hospital in planet earth. If you've got five minutes to live you're better off driving through La Plata or Prince Frederick. MedSTAR is ownership has not helped at all. It's probably made it worse.

Long wait time, never admitted for service, charged for service anyway, and has the most stuck up unhelpful customer support for billing I've ever talked to. Just go to Calvert or La Plata. Better, faster, more helpful service.
