I’ve been going to this location to file my taxes early for the early cash Advance for years. This year they had a glitch in the system causing my federal and state tax refund to get amended… it’s going to be June and the IRS is still processing my thousands of dollars that’s due back to me. That’s about $10,000 due back to me on hold for who knows how long due to their glitch in their system. I need some type of compensation. I’m sooo infuriated.

So I’m really not the type to leave reviews (good or bad) but this experience made it necessary.
Not only will I never use H&R Block again (any location), but this process has turned me off on using any chain tax company. Never again.
Normally I just do my own taxes but I’m new to MD and had some more complicated stuff this year so I got them done professionally. It should be noted I’m from a state with NO state tax so this was all very new to me.
An error through work caused me to owe WAY more than I was expecting. A bummer but not the tax preparers fault at all. She did look extra hard for any deductions or credits to offset that amount owed, which I appreciate.
The problems came after the return was done.
1. The return was completed late. At the time I didn’t care but that ended up costing me some late fees.
2. There wasn’t enough info on HOW to pay. H&R Block basically said ‘ok figure it out’ and left it to me. I’ve since learned paying online as a new resident is almost impossible and paying by check is easier. A check needed to be sent BY the 15th to avoid late fees but my taxes weren’t even done on the 15th. I emailed my preparer asking what the best way to pay is, no response.
3. Called the office today to get clarification on what paperwork should be included with the check. Asked why the amount from the tax department and the amount from H&R Block were different. “You didn’t pay on time so now you owe late fees”. My taxes weren't even completed 2 weeks ago, but I already owe late fess. Would have been great to know these things beforehand. Thanks I guess?
So many lessons have been learned during this process but my main lesson was not to pay $300 for a chain who *literally* could care less my taxes or me. I get this is just a job and they have lots of clients but even just responding to my emails would have been nice. Definitely going local next time.

Great service. Drop off is wonderful! The tax pro calls you in when paperwork is ready. You just stop by the office, review the filing, sign and pay and off you go.
Will be doing it again next year.

It was the worst tax experience I've ever received. We scheduled an appointment with Deborah for a Friday to get our taxes done. After several hours, we were asked to come back because they were taking longer than expected. That same day, we were told the taxes only need a couple of things to finish up and a supervisor to look over them on Monday, and we would be good to go. Monday comes around, and still nothing. Since we were still waiting, we asked additional questions and provided additional documents requested. Again, we were told we'd have an update on Tuesday. Tuesday comes and nothing. Wednesday comes and nothing. We didn't hear from her until Thursday when she said she was waiting on us to send additional paperwork, which we'd already sent on Monday. She claimed she was busy and taking care of other people. Meanwhile, our taxes were put on the back burner. I was then promised we could come in the following Monday at 4 with our children to sign, and everything would be done. We called shortly before the appointment, only to be told she had an emergency, and it was noted in the file, which nobody notified us of. The problem was that she had an emergency. It was the lack of communication throughout the entire week. Every time we needed an update, we had to call. I asked for the supervisor and never heard anything back. It's clear she did not take the tkme and care we needed to get our taxes done. We pay a professional hundreds of dollars to complete our taxes, and this was the treatment we received in return. I am absolutely astonished by the lack of communication, unprofessional, and lack of attention to customer care by Deborah and the entire office. We have decided to go without another pro because we have zero confidence in this team.

The Senior Tax specialist was very knowledgeable, answered all of my questions and completed my federal and state forms in a timely manner. The staff were very friendly. I look forward using H&R block in the future.

We love the thoroughness and consistency we get every year from our tax professional, Nancy. Even though my wife and I are aware that Nancy could complete and file our tax return without our coming into the office, we actually enjoy our conversation and interaction with her. Not many people can say they actually look forward to tax season every year, but we certainly can.
