I walk in on a Friday can’t even deposit money into my account because both ATMs malfunctioning and no tellers are available. Something as simple as a deposit should not take over 30 minutes. Changing banks very soon. Fancy truck outside but that doesn’t help customers!

I have been a member for 40 years. And yes, the staff is pleasant but apparently ineffective. My automatic deduction (worked fine for two plus years) ceased. Seven telephone calls, a manual form with photo ID submitted and assurances that the problem was resolved later, I received a call at 7:15 PM (That's right. 7:15 PM) a payment was once again overdue. Of course, the part of the organization making the call cannot do anything and the "office" which is in Maryland (I am in Virginia) does not open until 9 AM tomorrow. It is becoming apparent I will have to travel to Washington to rectify the problem and since I don't drive, will have to pay for transportation to do so. It is sad to see a once efficient organization, to use the vernacular, go down the tubes. My advice, find a different credit union or bank.

After a supposed “upgrade” you cannot get a live person when attempting to do so. Branches are inconvenient. Service is slow and inadequate.They told me I could not obtain a requested statement without paying 10 dollars per statement from the previous year. Most financial institutions I have dealt with, give you statement access for 2 years without paying. You cannot get a statement in the same YEAR even, older than 3 months since their “upgrade” without paying. This financial institution is not serious about being competitive in 2023 and gone downhill noticeably since a shrinking footprint began sometime between 2012 and 2014. They seem to be prepping for an acquisition.

4pm closing? Very unhappy with the changes this credit union has been making. I guess they want ppl to NOT come in the bank for anything nowadays.

You cannot get a person on the phone for any reason. The phone hangs up every single time for months. This is ridiculous that I have to travel to the branch for everything.

tried calling them numerous times and days, but no response or I would get connected then they would hang up. Worst customer support for phone.

I have been trying to call SFCU for WEEKS (yes WEEKS! I have the phone log to prove it) and every time the queue is either closed or I sit on the phone for hours only for it to be disconnected. And this is using both of the phone lines listed on the website. DON'T DO IT! The customer service is TERRIBLE. DO NOT DO IT!I'd give no stars if I could. It was a great credit union when I was 17 and didn't know much about finance and financial institutions, but as an adult, I would never. Online credit unions and banks have much better service and rates.Save yourself a headache and take your business somewhere else. This credit union is a J-O-K-E!**Still thinking about joining, give them a call during normal business hours. You're likely to get the same result.

Fees, fees, fees. I wish I never worked with them. I closed my student loan account and then asked them to close my checking account. They needed ID and forms. I sent everything. They said I needed my account number. I asked for it and they said they couldn't give it to me without ID. I RESENT my ID. They never respond. Never answered my messages for over 2 months. When I call they say they can't give me my # over the phone and I have to email. I try again but still no response. I've been dealing with this for a year now and they're charging me just for having a checking account with them. Too many hoops to jump through. I haven't been able to close my account no matter how many times I reach out or resend documentation. Having to call once again. 3rd caller in qeue for 20 min now.

There is nothing good about this bank. The website is very poorly designed and unfriendly. The Tellers are very unresponsive and in most cases are very unprofessional. The Bank Managers are never there to help you. There is only one telephone line to call, and it is always a long waiting time. Since there are no branches near where I live, I called after 30 minutes, a teller name Kinen answered and she had no idea what she was doing when I asked for a supervisor, she hung up on me. I tried to call back and the line was busy after that. I will close all my accounts as soon as I can. I should have done this 10 years ago.

I use paper billing, they never send their statements out on time and then when I pay by check and mail it in immediately I have to keep calling my bank to see if the check cleared, then I have to put a stop payment on the check because they can’t seem to find it and then they charge me $25 late fee and interest. They give you about 10 phone numbers to call, no human ever answers and if one does they can never help you. I’ve been with them for over 30 years and I’ve had enough of their incompetence!

Been a member my whole life and they are AWFUL. Very unresponsive. You must reach out multiple times to get an answer. Asked them to increase my transfer limit and took them a week to say “no” with absolutely no explanation. Complained to them about their lack of service twice, and was ignored both times. Do not trust them with your money.
