Outstanding workmanship. Honest, forthright, superb craftsmanship. I've been working with Brian and Gallo for 20 years, on numerous vehicles - usually at least one or two of my old cars are in the shop at any given time. Without fail, each time, the cars come out as stunning works of art. Now, fair warning - this is NOT a place to go for cheap or economy (or for that matter, fast overnight) work. Brian is expensive - you must know that going in. But he also is very accurate in his estimates and his timekeeping and recordkeeping and billing. Usually, when I go there, I wish there was a vaccine for sticker shock - but I've developed a fair immunity over the years. Because - the results are worth it. All of my cars usually go into the shop as hopeless rust buckets - or otherwise as failed PO (prior owner) restorations (e.g., full of mud, bad paint jobs, shoddy mechanics, bad electrical, hidden rust). Gallo and Brian find all of that stuff and put the car back together the RIGHT way. In short, if you're looking for inexpensive, quick, fast-and-dirty, TV-reality car-flip el cheapo work, then go somewhere else. If you have the funds, the time, the patience, and the appreciation, then you come here for your restoration work. Put it this way - take a look at the shop. It's not fancy - they aren't taking your money and buying a bunch of fancy facilities and furnishings - it's a three-bay garage with a paint booth and a tented storage lot (graveyard?) out back, minimum frills, lots of work going on. And you can see the work being done - it's right there in front of you. You can see the time and quality going into each project. And Brian keeps extremely accurate records of each nut, bolt, part, etc. that goes into the restoration. The other plus - Brian outsources his upholstery work to the best in the business, Jamie over at Car Care Customs in Silver Spring. Jamie is the nicest guy in the world, and does absolutely astounding work (again, take a look at the no-frills shop on Garfield - fabric piled to the ceiling, sewing machines humming - all business). Fair warning - better get Jamie fast, since I think he will be retiring soon. But, back to Brian's place - I think I'm probably on my 5th or 6th project (more to come). I'm a huge fan of this shop and of the fine individuals who own and operate it. Has my bank account suffered? Absolutely - painfully. But has my garage benefited from their work? Without question. It never fails - once a car is done (and this may take years), wherever I go, that car turns heads and stops traffic. So, to the haters (the one-stars), sorry you feel that way - there are plenty of fast-fix, cover-the-rust-with-mud places, here today, gone tomorrow. The car restoration business is not for the faint of heart or the light-of-budget. You'd probably be better off going somewhere else. As for me, I'll stick with Murphy Brothers.

Restoration of a car can be quite a challenge, and is not a job to be undertaken lightly, or done easily by an amateur. It takes time and knowledge to truly restore a vehicle. Brian Murphy, who runs Murphy Brothers Auto Restoration ,understands this process from beginning to end, and has immense experience in this area. I was lucky enough to find him and have him work on a 1981 Mercedes 560 SLC modified by AMG which a friend had bequeathed me. The restoration work is first class. There was extensive metal welding and rust repair needed on this vehicle. Brian guided me carefully and fairly through the entire process. I can recommend Murphy Brothers Auto Restoration unequivocally without reservation. If you allow Brian to help you, it will be done correctly.

I have used murphy brothers restoration facility with two antique autos for around ten years. I have found the owner to be a man of total integrity. The owner and workers have been open and honest concerning costs and necessary workmanship and have often developed creative alternatives and solutions for costly and difficult problems. The service and mechanical work has always been thorough and excellent and they have been capable of locating and obtaining hard to replace parts. I CAN RECOMMEND THI FACILITY TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR EXCELLENT CARE. j FINEMAN

I am having my 55 Ford F100 mechanically restored and slightly modernized at Murphy Brothers and am very pleased with the work they are doing. Estimates are fair and the work is excellent. So much so that my wife asked me to take her 92 Wrangler to them when it needed some repairs. I would definitely recommend Murphy Brothers if you want your classic restored or if you just want to keep your middle aged daily driver in top shape.

I am having a 1968 Ford Galaxie-500 restored. Since it is a 1968 and since it is a rare four door hardtop, replacement pieces are almost impossible to find. Brian Murphy will do all he can to find a replacement part, and if one is not available, he can fabricate the part. He keeps me updated on the progress and cost of the restoration. It has not been a quick and easy and inexpensive fix because of these issues (Brian is basically rebuilding my car from the bottom up), but it has been my decision to endure until the end because I want to have at least one 1968 four door hardtop Galaxie-500 around for future generations. Brian is part of a dying profession, and if anyone needs a car restored, I would recommend Murphy Brothers Automotive to do the job before it is no longer around. Just one final word: Brian Murphy is a down to earth, hard working, knowledgeable, and dedicated guy. Just stop by and see a classic car show right in his garage!

Yes, a major rip off. They charged me four times what the repair was worth. And after less than 150 miles I had to get their work redone. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere! I had a generator swapped out for a alternator. They charged me $1,200 (the generator light was still on after the repair, that should've been my first warning of a poor repair). They didn't change any of the burnt out wiring. And they tired to talk me in $10,000 worth for repairs that I was told was not needed. Every time I see their name it sickens me!!! If there is smoke there is fire. The owner can say what they wants to justify themselves. Look at the reviews of the repair shop before you use them! A good reoair does not have to justify their work!! This is my honest opinion.

I would not recommend at all. They charged far too much and took too long to do the work. You would do better taking it to several other places and managing the restoration yourself.

I HAVE BEEN DOING BUSINESS WITH MURPHY BROTHERS FOR OVER 20 YEARS. THEY ARE A RESTORATION SHOP. I ALWAYS HAVE A PROBLEM WITH RUST BECAUSE MY TRUCKS ARE ALWAYS ON THE BEACH. THE SALT AND SAND WILL RUST OUT A TRUCK IN NO TIME AT ALL. I AM COMPLETELY HAPPY WITH THE WORK THEY DO FOR ME. MR MURPHY LAYS IT ALL OUT ON WHATS NEEDS TO BE DONE IN HIS ESTIMATE. A RESTORATION SHOP GETS INTO DETAILS THAT A REGULAR REPAIR SHOP DOESNT. THEY BRING THINGS BACK TO ORIGINAL CONDITION WHERE A REGULAR REPAIR SHOP DOESNT. I WOULD RECOMMEND MURPHY BROTHERS AUTO TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR DETAILED RESTORATION WORK.
