First, THEY STILL CHARGED COVID FEES BUT DO NOT TELL YOU UNLESS YOU ASK. Second, I have extremely fine thin short hair above my shoulders with balding and I was charged $350 for highlights. They also charged me $90 for a haircut. This place is a scam and rips people off. they don’t have their prices listed in the salon and over charge you. This is not a high end fancy salon to charge customers like this. DO NOT GO HERE they will rip you off.Services: Hair coloring

This salon is a scam. They over charge you for services. I have VERY long thick hair and my mother had VERY short thin hair only above her shoulders. we were charged THE SAME price for highlights. She just got a trim and highlights and cost her $350!!!! They charged her $90 for a trim. This place doesn't care about how much products they use on you but just charged you a ridiculous amount. THEY ALSO CHARGE COVID FEES STILL BUT DONT TELL YOU! This is not a fancy high end salon for the prices to be this ridiculous. DO NOT GO HERE

I see Jackie at this salon, she is wonderful. I have black hair, and have seen her multiple times for blonde highlights. She is very thorough with the highlight process, and has a very friendly and upbeat personality. Jackie is very communicative about picking the right shade of toner afterwards. I’ve had strangers ask me where I get my highlights from.I find the prices are reasonable, pretty much what you would pay anywhere in this area. I like the ambiance and energy of Hugo salon, it’s a lot of wide open space, which especially made me comfortable during the pandemicService: Highlights

Thank you, Sandy ? I hadn’t been to a salon in years and needed a change. She was patient and made me feel really comfortable, always making sure I had a gossip magazine or coffee the entire time. I’ll be back for sure!

I was nervous after seeing the recent bad reviews, but Phoenix did an amazing job with my cut and color.

Worse place to go!!!! I went in for balayage at 2:30pm. The hair stylist didn’t start until almost 4pm and bleached my entire head. Not to mention that I didn’t leave the salon until almost 2 am!!!! She charged 375$ for a bleach out, haircut and toner. Haircut that wasn’t even done. I left at 1:45 am with another appointment for another day , so that she can re-tone it and my appt was canceled 30 minutes before and never got another call from the stylist. This place is unprofessional and nothing compared to what the websites states they do. This person didn’t even know how to use the hair dryer to do a blow out!!!Services: Haircut

CHEMICAL BURNS! Do NOT go here! This isn’t the old Hugo Salon I knew and loved. My understanding is that they have new management and a new team. I went in to have my hair bleached, colored, and cut - the new Hugo Salon failed on all three! My appointment started an hour late and it was with a stylist who had never done my hair before. When she bleached my hair, she gave me chemical burns on my scalp. They were oozing and bleeding! She also over-processed some sections, while leaving others orange, which isn’t at all the color I wanted. In addition, even though I requested layers and I was left with a choppy, uneven mess. It was so bad, I had to book a consultation with another salon the following morning. When I went in for the consultation, the stylist there was shocked. She said it was very unusual for a professional stylist to chemically burn a client. She was so worried about the wounds and scared for me, that she told me to visit a doctor the very next day. I ended up going to the doctor three times, including a dermatologist, and was given two prescriptions to prevent infection and treat a rash caused by the bleach. This was a month ago. I’ve received no resolution from Hugo Salon even though I requested a refund and for them to cover my medical treatment and expenses for the chemical burns less than three days after the first appointment. Furthermore, they haven’t been doing a good job monitoring their customer service inbox and I have had to correspond with them via text. I’ve even provided a photo of the burn and receipts of my medical costs. This is completely unacceptable. A professional team of stylists should not leave a client with orange hair, a bad haircut, or chemical burns. Do not go here!Services: Haircut

HORRIBLE! Took my daughter for her very first salon experience. I really wanted it to be special so I decided I would budget a nice amount to make this a great experience. I explained to the hairstylist what we wanted (a cut and bright color dye). I showed her where we wanted the color and she completely could not understand. She instead did coloring only UNDER her hair (peekaboo). When I pointed out that it looked like what we DIDN'T want, I simply could not communicate with her. No matter what I said, she could not comprehend. I have a degree in social work so I KNOW I am trained to communicate! And the whole time she was giving me RUDE stares and frowning. So unpleasant! The new owner (Sandy?) came over and understood what I was saying in 60 seconds, but is so incredibly meek she would not do anything to train the hair stylist or ask her to treat me differently. Then I was sitting outside and the outgoing owner (Hugo) asked me how I was and I explained what was going on and he basically blamed me for not communicating well. He then brought the hair stylist out to have a "talk" but it was just him doing this weird mediation with the hair stylist and throwing blame at both of us (I am a grown woman and a customer!! The whole experience and his manner was so bizarre!) My daughter left there with barely a cut and luckily the color that was at least 50% of what we wanted. But then I was joking with my daughter that we could probably buy the dye on Amazon ourselves so I googled it... it was only $16 for the same exact tube of what they used!!! Let's just say they charged us more than 5 times that price for what they did -- and I REALLY could have done the same thing at home. And it took 3 hours when it was just a cut and a one hour dye job. Plus, part of the hair stylist's lack of communication was that this expensive treatment was only semi-permanent... so it won't last more than a month! This business has SUCH a long way to go before it should be serving customers. But from the manner of all of them there (including just horrific management), they won't be changing a thing anytime soon. REALLY TERRIBLE!!!Services: Hair colouring

This place is a fixture in Wheaton and yet it took me 30 years to come here! I still don't know what made me want to go blonde (though I feel like everyone imagines it at one point) but: 1) turning 30, 2) COVID crisis, and 3) having to postpone my wedding 3 times due to said COVID crisis were reasons enough. I made an appointment in September 2020 with Amanda (just looked on the website for a stylist) and prepared to go blonde. She had looked over the photos I sent and we spoke and came to a better idea of what I wanted/could achieve. I had about 3 years' worth of box dye on my head (2 inches of roots) and my natural color is a Level 2, the box dye put me at maybe Level 3 or 4. The process was long but that was to be expected and Amanda very thorough - hair is her passion and it shows! We got halfway to where I wanted to be in that session and she recommended me some products (that I bought and then later purchased again on my own - Kerastase, why does everything you make have to smell SO good?!?!) I've since gone twice more to get to the level of blonde I want (the lightest parts are basically Level 9 now!) I know there are bound to be people who complain about something, anything about the process but I don't have a single complaint. It's a given that such a huge transformation will take a long time and while my little tailbone is dead at the end, these stylists have had their arms up, standing and working for ~6 hours so us clients can have gorgeous hair! Amanda is super professional and personable - I can trust her with my hair and she's always willing to make things right (the first time the toner was too light it washed out almost immediately and she saw me the day after to get it a bit darker so it would fade better, at no charge). Plus, she has the best recommendations for restaurants in the county!
