After a 3 year search to find an artisan that could repair a broken 160 yr old hinge from a rare Japanese antique stair chest, I found Josh by a stroke of luck. He repaired my hinge in 3 days for what I considered next to nothing given the exorbitant prices on these types of antiques. Additionally, he "aged" the repair area so as the hide the weld. The shop is modest but the skill he has and the value of the items he works on are far from it. By the way, I called Mount Vernon, Colonial Williamsburg, the Smithsonian Museum of American History, every major antique metal restoration guild listed, and numerous Facebook pages....none of them claimed to be able to repair the hinge or recommend someone who could.

I had a pair of candlesticks that needed to be soldered for repair. They were not expensive and had always looked to be a bit dull. Josh not only did a wonderful job with the repair, but also made them look better than they had ever looked. The price was very reasonable and the work was done within the time frame he had given. Very glad to have a family heirloom restored!

We have some antique patio furniture that needed new paint. Josh picked them up two weeks ago. We have them back. They have been beautifully restored - sanded and powder coated. Could not have asked for a better job!

Joshua Brettell is THE man! His website says Joshua is "...an expert in the repair and refurbishment of anything metal." But that only scratches the surface (yeah...he can fix that scratch too!). Joshua is most assuredly a craftsman. He repaired my bronze sculpture. The damage inflicted in shipment is gone! Without a trace! But Joshua is far more than that. He cares about his clients. He understands the importance my sculpture has for me. He saw there was a small piece missing, something I didn't even mention in our discussions about his repair technique. Joshua found a substitute for that missing piece, which he altered slightly to fit my sculpture. Then he waited for me to come back for the pick up before offering to attach the substitute piece. Joshua is a caring, thinking, and dedicated artisan. He is also fair with the price. Trust this man to serve you and repair your metal objects in the best way you could ever expect.

Josh did fabulous work repairing, restoring, and polishing my family samovar (and all the assorted pieces) from the 1800's. He even had the broken handles remade by a skilled craftsman. In addition, Josh repaired 2 elaborate candlesticks, with movable arms - also from the 1800's. He was reasonable in price, does fantastic, awesome work. Highly recommend him!

I brought in a handmade, ornate, antique lamp with a few broken and missing pieces. They restored it and did a wonderful job. I can't even tell which parts were original vs. the missing pieces they recreated. They also fixed up the paint job and gave me a new extension chord, which was nice. They were friendly and professional. Josh was the main person I interacted with. I would definitely return if I need this type of service in the future.

Joe has helped me on multiple instances. It is a nice small business that can do anything with metal! They are very competent, professional, and reasonably priced. I would recommend them to anyone that has metal things that need to be repaired. Owning a moving company, I need a wide network of service providers to refer out, and Awesome Metal is my metal guy. Keep up the good work, guys!
