Working with Jason at Amicus Green Building Center was a lifesaver for me. I bought a recently-built condo in 2021, and I was having chemical sensitivity reactions to the materials in the condo, so I found Amicus Green online to try to find safer, less-toxic materials to put in my condo so I could actually live in it comfortably. He helped me order and color some AFM zero-VOC paints, and I was able to have the contractor pick them up from Amicus and bring them to where I lived nearby. I was also able to order some Earthweave 100% wool carpet and pads to replace the original carpets, and also worked with the contractor to pick up the materials directly from Amicus to install them.The combination of the zero-VOC paints, the Earthweave 100% wool carpet, and a couple of Austin Air carbon filters were enough to make my condo livable for me, and I'll always be grateful to Amicus for that. Jason was a helpful resource for gaining access to these types of natural home renovation materials, that I normally would not have had access to otherwise. I highly recommend Amicus Green Building Center for the safest, least toxic materials for any home renovation needs.

The Amicus Green Building Center is an excellent store that prioritizes eco-friendly materials. They have an impressive range of products including tiles, flooring, faucets, and other small DIY project materials, as well as construction-related items. The owner is incredibly friendly and always willing to help, making the shopping experience all the more enjoyable. I highly recommend checking out this store for all your construction needs.

Far too many toxic chemicals in everything, made me sick for long time, -Until I found Amicus Green, Life-saver, nothing Better! They have the Best, Safe, Healthy, Non-toxic building materials, products. I was able to paint every room in house -with no breathing problems, replace flooring, stain lot of wood furniture with highest quality, most beautiful paints, stains, finishes. -I had many questions along the way, -the owner Jason, at Amicus always has thoughtful answers, suggestions, insight. He’s well-informed, takes time to listen to your project needs, expert problem-solver. I always learned something when I talked to him, such as -how lighting affects paint color, type of wood affects stain, different finishes, brushes, how-to-do all these things in home! He knows how to do any home project I was considering. So helpful…and wonderful products for every part of the house or building. Every place should be using safe products, so that people, animals, environment, air can be healthy and good for all. Thank you Amicus so much for outstanding service and providing truly Good…for the world.

Amicus Green Building has helped us source all of our materials for the third time (since 2008). Working with Jason is usually the only thing in a renovation that goes perfectly.Some material costs are bit higher than they would be from a traditional store, but in many cases they are cheaper and better quality.The selection at Amicus is outstanding and Jason knows everything about every material. That’s really invaluable when you’re spending the money on good sized project. It’s true, you might have to be flexible with the materials —Jason sometimes can’t guarantee that the exact tile or flooring you saw in a magazine is available. Perhaps you can do that at some big chain store. But if you’re willing to make some design decisions, you can find almost anything you want from Amicus and build in any kind of style.The material quality and service really can’t be matched. It’s absolutely worth using Amicus for any project.For those who care about sustainability, it’s really satisfying to finish a beautiful project and feel good about the materials (and the health impact). For those who just want to get a renovation done, this is still the best kind of service and store you can find.In the photos below, all of our flooring, cabinets, tile, counters and carpets came from Amicus.

I love Amicus Green Building. Jason, the owner is super. We remodeled our home and got beautiful new floors and new bathrooms. The quality of the products are amazing and Jason spent a lot of time with us making sure we were happy. This shop is a gem and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Jason at Amicus is the best! We were looking to paint our house and re-do flooring with no toxic chemicals and vocs. He has done all the work already, narrowing down the best companies in each category, no matter what you want done in your home, and has so much knowledge on everything green, eco-friendly and nontoxic. I only live 20 minutes away, but had never heard or Amicus - I learned of him through the Degree of Green podcast that focuses on healthy homes. Jason can help with anything you need, from as small as a new faucet to as big as an entire home renovation - minus the formaldehyde! I would recommend Amicus 100%

I ordered six sets of Earthshade blinds from Amicus. I waited two months for them to arrive. Two of them arrived broken and two were the wrong measurement - the height and width were reversed. Since one of the wrong sized ones was also broken, there were three that had to be replaced. I asked for a credit from the store and they said no. I had to go through a lot of time and trouble because of this and the blinds were very expensive. Now it's two and a half months after I ordered them and I still have three bare windows. By the way, they wouldn't recommend a handyman to install them, then when they finally did, he installed them off center. Even if this wasn't Amicus fault, and I'm not sure whose fault the wrong measurements were - they should have given me a credit for something else from the store, or a discount on what I paid.

After lots of research, and a helpful conversation with Jason Holstine, I ordered a 10 x 12 Earthweave carpet and pad. I could not be more pleased, and I appreciated the consultation with Mr. Holstine at Amicus Green Building Center. Mr. Holstine was easy to talk to and helpful. I will definitely be a returning customer! Thanks Amicus Green!

I view this store as a necessary evil. Yes, they stock many of the products that I'm looking for to complete my projects, but they are consistently rude, unfriendly, and closed-minded over the phone. The attitude is this is what we sell -- take it or leave it. Be aware that if you are chemically sensitive that they are incredibly cavalier about VOCs, toxicity, and other critical issues for CS sufferers. Over the course of calling them for four or five projects, they have glossed over important information in order to talk up their products. When I've asked them to consider stocking healthier alternatives or even to special order for me (at an additional cost obviously), they have been completely uninterested in the "hassle." Just not a friendly store, which is a shame, since its such a great concept! I would love to be able to spend lots of money there, instead I'm forced to spend it elsewhere online and have it shipped. :(

I go here for most of my home renovating needs. Jason Holstine who owns it and works there is incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive. He has helped me many times - from choosing Safecoat paints to installing and finishing my mother's hardwood floor with beautiful Osmo finish. Right now he is helping me pick out wool carpet. He's honest, upfront and takes the time to talk to you one on one about your home needs. I highly recommend this store.
