We would give the Gallatin Street PO a minus rating if we could. Four days ago, my husband and I went in to prepare 2 documents for priority mailing. There were other patrons either at the one open window or waiting in line. Both of us have had bad experiences with the two personnel here as have many people we know, and weren't as shocked as the others when the woman came out from the back yelling at the male worker at the top of her voice. They continued their loud argument while customers waited to be helped. The row went on for a while, and she finally returned to the back. He completed the transaction with the woman he had been assisting and then rudely told the young woman who had waited in line while he and the woman employee argued that the PO was now closed for lunch. She walked off in disgust and after my husband told him that he and his co-worker were an embarrassment, we left and went to the College Park PO. It is inexcusable that they were able to force customers to wait and waste their time listening to them fight and shout. That after meetings between officials from the city of Hyattsville and the PO, as well as filed complaints from mistreated customers over the past few years, these two are still working and allowed to continue their insulting and belligerent behavior is inexplicable. We've lived in Hyattsville for many years and enjoyed going to PO as well as interacting with the helpful, professional people who worked there. Unfortunately, there appears to be no one can or will actually act to rectify this situation. Clearly the PO's stated Standards of Conduct, which these two are in violation of, are neither respected or enforced.PO Standards of Conduct: 665.16 Behavior and Personal Habits“Employees are expected to conduct themselves during and outside of working hours in a manner that reflects favorably upon the Postal Service. Although it is not the policy of the Postal Service to interfere with the private lives of employees, it does require that postal employees be honest, reliable, trustworthy, courteous, and of good character and reputation.

It was the first time I've had to send packages in over a decade. The worker made it seem like I was a moron for asking straight forward questions to make sure that I was doing it correctly. I understand that she has to deal with this every day, but most people that show up to this run down place probably don't send a ton of packages on the regular. I hope that I never need to go to this particular post office again.

I would avoid this post office. There is a very rude clerk here. I've seen it several times with myself and others. She is real nasty. The post office on Queens Chapel or Baltimore Ave is worth the short drive to avoid this unpleasant and unhelpful clerk.

Showed up on a Friday (non holiday) during business hours and the front doors were locked. I waited for 30 mins and they never opened. When I came back on Monday, the staff told me I was wrong, that they hadn’t been closed that Friday. When they are open, there’s usually just a bunch of notes telling you what to do because no one is manning the counter.

I buy a lot of items on eBay and almost 80% of the time my package gets rerouted to Ybor city Florida distribution center from Hyattsville which makes absolutely no sense. My city and Hyattsville are only 43 miles apart. The postmaster general should investigate this office. Fix the problem!

I used to go here often but not anymore because the employees just hang in the back for a while and don’t come out when customers are in line.

Every time I try to go to this post office, something goes wrong. It’s inexplicably closed during open hours. It’s open, but I wait for 15 minutes and no staff appear. Today, something was broken (yeah right) and it was cash only. I once made the mistake of going in December, the line was out the door and only one person working. I will never go to this post office again.

Very rude and terribly not helpful staff. It’s even hard to talk to them or ask any questions. If they don’t like their jobs why are they in this job?? I see so many bad reviews for them. What’s the management doing to address customer concerns?? The woman who received me had 36 years of service on her name tag with that attitude. In 36 years she had no freaking responsible manager to fix her nonsense attitude and address her unprofessionalism?

No one answers their phone! These bubbas are lazy. Please give them a job cleaning toilets - instead of providing postal service. I have been trying to get my package, and its been missing in their post office for 9 days in a row. They NEVER answer the phone..

I have been going to this Hyattsville PO on Gallatin for over 40 years, and the staff has always been professional, polite and helpful. Friends have told me how unpleasant the staff is now and after today I understand. The woman was was rude and unprofessional. Her manager should take note of all the bad reviews and tell her to respect customers and behave responsibly or leave. This is really too bad because this PO is a Hyattsville treasure; a beautiful old building in the heart of the city, with original painted murals . It was always a warm and welcoming environment. There is no reason for this woman to bring her bad attitude and rudeness to so many people.

Worst customer experience. I walked in at 2:15pm only to find a sign that said "Out to lunch from 2pm - 3pm". So I wait 45 minutes. Only to wait another 30minutes just to get a money order. Mind you, there was only one person in front of me.
