I agree with all the recent reviews: the female staff is very disrespectful. She should not take a customer-facing job with that attitude.
I visited here to send the return packages. The labels were well attached, but she said I needed to tape the side of the labels, too (I've never heard of this thing elsewhere over multiple years. All couriers, including USPS, have sent my packages without any problems).
I asked where I could find the box tape, and she said I should purchase one. I asked again whether I could borrow one because it only needed a few inches of tape, but she refused and insisted that I buy one or return another time.
In other USPS locations, they usually taped for me when I just brought a printed label, so what she said was bizarre. I even thought this might be her strategy to turn away customers so that she could enjoy her free time while at work.
I had to leave and return when the male staff was there. I’m giving one more star for this location because he has been efficient and more respectful.

They have stamps, but you will get a very dirty look and some irritated grumbling when you try to buy them. And they will resist helping you for as long as possible. This is some bizarre gathering of grouches. Maybe they are trying to break a world record

Wow, what a NASTY experience at this post office! I was here on May 1st around 2:45pm and was treated so disrespectfully by the large African American woman behind the counter. She wasn’t at the counter when I arrived and when I called to ask if anyone was there she came out and then walked away. When I called again she scolded me when I brought up my package, and would not help me. Incredible.
I’ve been here when there is a very kind African gentleman who has been very helpful and I’ve been able to send packages before, but I left this location today to find another post office that wasn’t so rude and incompetent.

I have never experienced unfriendly costumer service. A black women who claimed have worked in postal service for over 20 years thinks it’s okay to treat costumer with disrespect and no sign of patience at all. I brought my documentation to open business p.o.box and she spoke for over 5 minutes and didn’t even give me a chance to explain myself but instead called the next costumer. I was confused and felt disrespected. God bless you women.

We would give the Gallatin Street PO a minus rating if we could. Four days ago, my husband and I went in to prepare 2 documents for priority mailing. There were other patrons either at the one open window or waiting in line. Both of us have had bad experiences with the two personnel here as have many people we know, and weren't as shocked as the others when the woman came out from the back yelling at the male worker at the top of her voice. They continued their loud argument while customers waited to be helped. The row went on for a while, and she finally returned to the back. He completed the transaction with the woman he had been assisting and then rudely told the young woman who had waited in line while he and the woman employee argued that the PO was now closed for lunch. She walked off in disgust and after my husband told him that he and his co-worker were an embarrassment, we left and went to the College Park PO. It is inexcusable that they were able to force customers to wait and waste their time listening to them fight and shout. That after meetings between officials from the city of Hyattsville and the PO, as well as filed complaints from mistreated customers over the past few years, these two are still working and allowed to continue their insulting and belligerent behavior is inexplicable. We've lived in Hyattsville for many years and enjoyed going to PO as well as interacting with the helpful, professional people who worked there. Unfortunately, there appears to be no one can or will actually act to rectify this situation. Clearly the PO's stated Standards of Conduct, which these two are in violation of, are neither respected or enforced.PO Standards of Conduct: 665.16 Behavior and Personal Habits“Employees are expected to conduct themselves during and outside of working hours in a manner that reflects favorably upon the Postal Service. Although it is not the policy of the Postal Service to interfere with the private lives of employees, it does require that postal employees be honest, reliable, trustworthy, courteous, and of good character and reputation.

It was the first time I've had to send packages in over a decade. The worker made it seem like I was a moron for asking straight forward questions to make sure that I was doing it correctly. I understand that she has to deal with this every day, but most people that show up to this run down place probably don't send a ton of packages on the regular. I hope that I never need to go to this particular post office again.

I would avoid this post office. There is a very rude clerk here. I've seen it several times with myself and others. She is real nasty. The post office on Queens Chapel or Baltimore Ave is worth the short drive to avoid this unpleasant and unhelpful clerk.

Showed up on a Friday (non holiday) during business hours and the front doors were locked. I waited for 30 mins and they never opened. When I came back on Monday, the staff told me I was wrong, that they hadn’t been closed that Friday. When they are open, there’s usually just a bunch of notes telling you what to do because no one is manning the counter.

I buy a lot of items on eBay and almost 80% of the time my package gets rerouted to Ybor city Florida distribution center from Hyattsville which makes absolutely no sense. My city and Hyattsville are only 43 miles apart. The postmaster general should investigate this office. Fix the problem!

I used to go here often but not anymore because the employees just hang in the back for a while and don’t come out when customers are in line.
