“Mike the owner was very friendly, his prices were great and he is accommodating with his prices. It's a little small on space, and there is street meter parking. The store is on a side street so not many people know its there. If you enjoy a treasure hunt and have patience and love cheap prices its worth a visit.”

“Adorable cozy little cottage nestled up in-between a row of antique stores. This shop is a great go-to for vintage tea sets, saucers, glassware, textiles, pottery, and even artwork. They also have a room dedicated to books and another to fashion items. All purchases go towards charity! Kensington has a street dedicated to antique retailers, consignors and upcyclists which goes by "Kensington Antique Row." More information can be viewed at: kensingtonantiquerow.com.”

Friendly volunteers and very reasonable prices.Located at Grace House basement at the far end of the (free) Grace Episcopal Church parking lot. Accessible via metro buses Y and Q lines.”

“When I first moved in around the corner, I told everyone I'd found my favorite store, because they somehow always had what I needed-- and 6 years later, FAVORITE STORE is a proper noun in our home. The variety and price points are unmatched, and there's a perfect balance of practical goods and novelty items. Great selection of plastic organization things and other home goods at cheaper-than-Amazon prices. And the owners are lovely and will go out of their way to help you find something to fit your need (i.e. when I was looking for plant ties (a stretch but you never know), I described them, and while they didn't stock them, they found balloon wire that they cut into several dozen individual pieces, free of charge. FAVORITE STORE!”

“It’s definitely a busy thrift store but I can see why. Really good selection and reasonable prices. It’s a bit out of my way but will definitely come back! Important note: there are no changing rooms at this thrift”

“St. Alban's Opportunity Shop is a true gem in the community. With its recent reopening, it continues its legacy of providing quality goods at affordable prices since 1955. The shop's commitment to supporting those in need is commendable, and I am proud to contribute to their cause. The weekly shopping hours are convenient, and the friendly staff always makes my visit enjoyable. Whether I'm looking for clothing, household items, or unique treasures, the Op Shop never disappoints. It's heartwarming to know that my purchases go towards helping the community. I highly recommend paying a visit to this wonderful thrift store.”

“Their hours a limited, like all NMCRS thrift stores (Tue., Thu. 1100-1300; 1st Sat. of the Month 1000-1400) but it's the only one in the DC area. They have a whole room dedicated to Navy and Marine Corps uniform items. If you need extra khakis or whites, check this place out first before going to the uniform store. Occasionally they'll have bridge coats or pea coats or even mess dress (typically only men's though). I've been told there are other thrift stores with a better selection of women's uniforms but this is the closest one to me and it's better than nothing! They also have a variety of rank devices, ribbons, metals, belts, and all those other small uniform extras that you'll inevitably loose and need to replace. Also a great place to donate rank items when you promote (including the ones that you might have to sew on!) In addition to uniforms, they also have a decent selection of clothing. They have small collections of toys, books, and housewares, and try to set up a seasonal display. Items will be discounted towards the end of the season and prices are generally fair for a thrift store. They just recently started accepting credit cards and were previously cash or check only which is a huge and much appreciated change. You need a military ID to purchase uniform items and base access to get to the thrift store, but it's a great bonus for the local military community.”

“Love that this place is volunteer run, and all proceeds go to ARC Montgomery (which serves individuals with disabilities and their families). I prefer to donate all my gently-used, no-longer-needed clothing here instead of to some of the big-name donations centers which are either run by religious organizations or are actually for-profit. This is a neighborhood thrift store, where you can know that your items/money are going to a local cause! I always take a half hour to browse when I come in to drop a donation off -- since the store isn't super big, it's hit or miss depending on your luck that day. I've gotten great workwear staples here (J.Crew pants for $8 anyone?!), and I've also walked away without finding anything. The items are mostly clothes (and are well organized by type, size, etc.), but there are some household items and knick-knacks at the front. Overall, Urban Thrift has become my go-to donation spot, and a good, curated spot to thrift.”

“Good variety of used goods. Coupons when you donate and discount days during the week. Everything is fairly organized for a very large thrift store. Hidden gems can be found once and a while.”

“dawg i needed 3 things and he had them, suuuppppperrrrr affordable. mama is the best owner. can say i guarantee everything works in there, but he let me test an alarm clock (which did work). i also saw him riding a kids bike around to test it out, and he went far. it just showed he really cares about the stuff he gets. it’s a little overwhelming, but everything is categorized. while not everything is placed nicely, it’s all in a location. the clocks are in the same spot, men’s clothes in the same spot, housewares etc.”

“This is a clean store. It's very organized and I find the employees patient and kind.1/25/23It was clean and Now donations are awful. I sat on a chair 2-weeks ago and it fell apart underneath me. I don’t blame Unique. It’s the donators. They give away junk and take a tax deduction. Ugh! It’s more Hillandale than Wheaton.”

“GREAT prices compared to other large thrift stores in the area but the quality of the clothing has gone down a bit (e.g., stains, broken zipper, threadbare patches) compared to the previous store Georgia Thrift so inspect carefully. The racks also weren't organized by size when I was there, making it a little more time consuming to go through the clothing. Still lots of great stuff and hidden gems.”

“There’s a decent selection and the prices are pretty good. Most things are around $10, few are above $20. The customer service was phenomenal. I had $13.00 of $14.80 and the cashier waved the difference. He was super friendly about it, too. The person I was with was also short a few dollars and he waved the difference, again.”

“[Part of Giving Tuesday 2019] I can only write from the perspective of a volunteer/donor, but Martha's Table seems to have a strong mission towards helping children and families in the DC area. Our class wanted to organize a clothing/food drive, and Martha's Table seemed to have the most bang for your buck. You can always donate in liquid like every other organization, but not as feasible for someone on the student lifestyle. There's plenty of drop-off locations for clothing and baby items across the city. If you can give food items like canned and dried goods, you gotta go to their Maycroft location on Columbia Rd NW. Easy to just reserve a 15-minute appointment on their website and drop off our load. I see their trucks all around the city serving the community - here's to hoping everyone's littles go a long way.”

“Good quality clothing that's well organized by size and type, and good selection of housewares and linens. Prices are on the higher side, which seems to be the trend for several larger thrift stores. Also has some new items like socks, They have half-off sales around major holidays like Memorial Day and Labor Day, when you can score great finds at more reasonable thrift/used prices. Also got a carry on with spinner wheels for only $16 (Sept 2023), which was a great find.”

“Small selection, but the best antique/consignment jewelry in D.C. I found my engagement ring here. INSANELY great deals, especially on diamond rings and higher-value pieces. The manager is so helpful and friendly!”

“This is a lovely church in Georgetown and just a short walk from M Street. I have been here twice now, once for a funeral and recently for a much more happier occasion, a wedding. It is beautiful inside and well worth a look if you find yourself this way or want to have a wedding here, or a funeral.”

“I'm very passionate about thrift stores and so when I stumbled upon unique I was very excited. I went a little overboard ha ha. My friend just had her second kid so I spent a lot of time back in the kids section... They have a very large selection of gently used kids clothing at super reasonable prices so I was able to spoil my friend's kids without breaking the bank. The good thing about toddlers is that they grow out of clothes so quickly that most of the clothes we got looked almost brand new. For myself I found that they have a nice selection of plus size clothing for women and I left with a number of new items. They give you a discount on different days of the week and if you bring in items to donate, so I always come in with things to give away which is a good excuse to clear out my closet before I add a bunch of new stuff to it”

“I was just checking the hours and saw the absolutely bonkers bad reviews - this place does not deserve the bad rating. They are a great little shop.I grew up donating my old clothes so to be able to bring them here and sell a few items or some shoes I don't wear is such a good deal. They often don't pick all my stuff but will sometimes recommend a different Uptown Cheapskate location that would take my items. The employees are always nice and do a great job, the store is always clean and organized, and I've found some great quality items here including a vintage Coach bag and Frye riding boots.Their prices are fair for all the effort they put in - especially since they pay for the clothes vs donation-based. I love coming here and have gotten a lot of my closet from here.”
