After reading reviews posted by others, I am scared to rent a car with Dollar or Hertz. The only response from the owner is thank you for your review comments and we will try our best. And I do not see any improvement in the situation based on the review comments. I called Dollar customer service, and I got the same answer that they cannot guarantee that there will be a car available even if I reserve it. If this is their policy, I am sorry, I'll not book a car with you!

I recently rented a car from Dollar and had a positive experience overall. Despite a slight delay in finding a car initially, the staff efficiently located one from Hertz, which was a nice touch. The car itself was in good condition, and I left the rental location feeling satisfied and happy with my choice. Would recommend!

Reservation for 3 months and then arrive at the desk to be told “no cars available”. Maybe in two hours. Poor guy at the desk was getting yelled at by everyone. So paid $250 more at National than was quoted at Dollar. The guy at National said that happens a lot. So they are cheap- but hey- no cars! Terrible way to do business. Let’s just see if they get in touch with me about this.

Terrible at answer the phone. Couldn’t reach anyone at the airport front desk and they kept giving the excuse that this was the best they could do. The people at the front desk didn’t even answer for the their own roadside support team and the manager’s number didn’t even work. They only way to reach them is online which can only get back to you in 3-5 business days which is not helpful at all especially when you could be stranded if there’s a problem with the car. The “best compensation” is 50 dollars for extremely bad service. The roadside support team was the only helpful service but only after I called 3 different people for a car exchange.

BEWAREAbsolute garbage business.I booked in advance and even did the online check-in from the airport to help expedite the process.Once at the facility and waiting in line for about 45 minutes, we’re told that there are no cars available at our rental level. The woman working the counter, told me to call Priceline, who I booked through, for a refund since the reservation was unable to be honored. The woman said that her manager was able to give a better car for an even better price for our troubles. She told us that it’ll only be $10/day including taxes and fees, and that we’d just have to wait about 3 hours for a car to become available. I asked to confirm that this was unrelated to the Priceline reservation and she assured me that it’s separate and that the Priceline reservation is unusable and will get refunded to the card.Despite the huge added headache while traveling, I thanked her for getting that done for us since it was a decent savings compared to our original booking. The car they ended up giving me after hours of waiting was dirty and had body damage all over, but I didn’t even complain because of the amazing deal I got.But it was all a lie. They didn’t do me any favors. They screwed me by lying to me and tricking me into giving them more money.Priceline is now saying that Dollar, this location, marked my reservation as fulfilled. They are liars and scammers.

What’s the point of a reservation if they don’t have cars available at the time of your reservation? They can blame “people keeping cars on previous rentals longer” all they want but they knew I was coming to pick up a car at a certain date and time and should have either notified me there were going to be no cars ahead of time (since this happens to literally everyone who’s left a review apparently and all the other people waiting with me) or figured out how to get more cars to this location, as I know it’s not the only rental facility in the state. This goes for Thrifty as well, and the clerk claims it’s the same at Hertz but I saw several people (like at least 10) pick up cars from Hertz. I’ve never ever had this happen at any other rental car facility, not sure why BWI can’t figure out basic business practices.EDIT: The car I finally received does not have a working air conditioner. (Also could be cleaned better but expectations are low.) I need to exchange the car. Is there a number to the front desk I can call to check for car availability before I drive all the way back? When you call the corporate number they are absolutely no help.

I delivered the car two hours before agreed and on the invoice it appears that I delivered it a day later and that is illogical, they are charging me double. I delivered the car yesterday, March 10 at 3:00 am, my flight left at 5 am. I received the invoice today telling me to deliver it today at 5:00pm, which is not true. Attached is a photo of the receipt where it tells me the amount I was going to pay and the deposit that had to be left.

if you rent a car here and your tire gets slashed, even if you have insurance they will charge you $600 and it will take you 6 or 7 phone calls just for them to tell you they can't help. had to contest the charge with my cc company

Reserved a car weeks in advance for a work trip. Upon arrival the sign at Dollar directed me to Thrifty Car Rental. After standing in line for 15 minutes, I was told along with everyone else , no cars would be available for at LEAST 2 hours. No car of any type and no arrangements made for us elsewhere. What? 2 combined agencies, no cars and no customer service? I ended spending $200 more for a last minute rental at Enterprise, which I probably won’t get totally reimbursed for. Major disappointment. Having spent almost 30 years in the hotel business, I’m unaccustomed to treating clients this way. At the very least, they could have called or emailed with instructions instead of wasting everyone’s time and money. It’s apparent that they don’t care and I’ll be asking our company’s travel agency to remove them from our preferred / approved vendor list.

Customer service was good , I got a little confused with how getting your car was concerned it was no one really out there to help me, but another customer that has dealt with them before helped me out and a gentleman drove up. I think he was getting off work or he had just got off from workand he thought that I was confused. I didn’t get his name but he worked with and he helped me out and made sure I was OK and then he went home so all in all was pretty good.

thieves. I returned the car with a full tank and they charged me as if I had arrived with an empty one. daylight theft. be careful. the contract states that I can return it with a full tank or they will charge me for the fuel. no response from the help center. open policy of cheating customers. Considering the number of tragic opinions, I suggest filing a class action lawsuit

It was disappointing arriving to the front desk and find out that they wanted to give me an Electric Car. When I rented it online a thought it was a gas car. They should write clearly that.He said they didn’t have gas cars and when I went to get the car in the garage, they had gas cars. The car was good, but it was smelling awfully to weed / cigarette.I can’t believe the of respect for other, when people smoke weed inside the cars.

They are open past 10pm, contrary to the google listing. My flight got in late and I was worried they wouldn’t be there. They were helpful at the desk and got me out quickly.

Terrible experience. Their location was closed and the thrifty rental systems were down. Made for a very long check in. Ended up cancelling and rebooking on another rental company
