I was trying to adopt a cat from there, but I was informed that I had to fill out an application first and list references. Then once they finish the reference check (which will take about a week and a half), that's when they will schedule an appointment. I never received a call back from them. I went to another shelter and was able to get this handsome sweet orange tabby in 3 days.

Absolute horrible people!!I neededhelp with my animal just to see what her injury looked like and the only thing they could say is: if you can't take care of your dog turn her in????they could of gone over beyond cause What I wanted was for someone to look at it!! Simple task but I forget the animal workers avoid all calls ( nobody ever answers). The community reach out with love and care besides the ones that are supposed to care?

They have animals available but you must make an appointment on line to visit or view who is available and apply for adoption of the animal.

We recently adopted a kitten from Greenbelt Animal Shelter. We worked with Walter who made it a very easy process. They were thorough with checking my information on the application and making sure this kitten got a good home. It is a smaller shelter and the animals looked well cared for. We experienced no communication issues as mentioned in prior reviews. I would definately adopt from them again in the future.

I went searching for a cat in December 2020. My kitty was the first on my list to visit, and he was also my last. I didn’t want to see any other cat after meeting him! I wanted to adopt him right away. Nelly was so kind and gave me everything I needed to take him home. 2 years later, I’m watching my sweet boy look out the window and thanking God, Nelly, and this tiny but mighty shelter for giving me my kitty cat. Thanks for everything!! ????

We adopted our 2ish year old cat from greenbelt animal shelter roughly 15byears ago. Tom recently passed due to lymphoma. He had a very vigorous and healthy life, only declining in his last year. It started with hyperthyroidism which we controlled with i131 radioactive iodine. He started to recover but then fell off a cliff. That was when we found out he had recently developed lymphoma that killed him. Tom was a cat that was more dog and greeted us as we came home every day and said good by when we left. He ruled the animals, including our shelty puppy we brought home 2.5 years ago despite being a pretty spunky puppy. We miss him greatly. If not for the shelter, we would have been 15 years without our stalwart companion. We hope we might again fi d such a good companion.

Small shelter that only takes in animals from Greenbelt MD (but anyone can adopt). Very caring staff and volunteers look after the wellbeing of the animals there.

We can’t say enough good things about Greenbelt Animal Rescue. Nelly Ortiz is fantastic! She was very responsive and showed true professionalism. It was a great experience to adopt our beloved rescue dog! We can’t thank her and her assistant enough. A true pleasure to work with them. We highly recommend this rescue organization!!

I have called this shelter THREE times and left TWO messages regarding paperwork about cats I hat adopted there in June of 2019. I talked with a woman on the phone and she said that she would send me the information I needed through email and I have received no such thing!I need to know what shots my cats had before taking them to another vet!
