Short and simple. Jones has anger issues. Been going her for over 10 years. Many dogs. Will never return. Ask 1 question and she got pissed and walked out of room. Glad she left. If I can't ask why are we doing a procedure? Place has gone down hill.

In 40 years of owning pets, I have never found a vet more caring, competent and professional than Dr. Lisa Jones. My 3 Italian Greyhounds love going to see her for both emergency and routine care. I sincerely recommend Dr. Jones to anyone searching for outstanding veterinary care.

Client for 13+ years. Senior, diabetic & blind dog that was seen by Dr. Alexander, who ran a $400 test for Cushing's, that came back positive, prescribing medication. When I questioned this, Dr. Alexander suggested an internist ($1,500) who said that it was the wrong test to run on a diabetic dog, the meds could have killed her, and wouldn't have run the test absent of clinical symptoms. So, I was out $400 for the wrong test. This was 2023. Later, I take my girl in to see Dr. Jones, to get her blood glucose and high triglycerides under control. Changed food, cooked homemade, and hesitated to buy the $100 17 lb. bag of prescription food. In March 2024, Dr. Jones sees my dog for loose, rotting teeth. Even though my dog's breath was horrible and there was a small growth by one of them, she lamented dental surgery for fear of her high Triglycerides causing a problem during surgery. She suggested a Vet dentist that wanted to charge a MINIMUM of $3,000. Dental postponed, I caved in and finally tried the costly prescription food, had to wait another 30 days, another $100 blood test. FINALLY, in April, her blood work improved and I thought, great, get her dental done and take out the mass and rotten teeth. Nope, had to work on the blood sugar, again to be sure it wasn't going too low, which I understood. No dental surgery was scheduled, I was told to get a Libre sensor ($80) and bring her in, AGAIN, to have it put on. Called around to get the sensor, a prescription was necessary and I wasn't given one. Asked if I could possibly do the blood glucose curves at home (which I've done for four years now) and save my dog from the stress of the car ride. She agreed. I supplied her the information which she requested. They called me and said that it wasn't enough information and they needed a 24 hour curve, all the while I'm waiting to get the go ahead to get my dogs teeth taken care of. At this point, one of the rotten teeth was now missing, and I just broke down and told the vet tech that I just couldn't keep being nickled and dimed because we've spent over $10,000 on my dog - and her teeth still weren't taken care of! She put me on hold, Dr. Jones picks up, and BERATES ME on the phone. This is not an exaggeration. She went on to tell me that I had not spent $10,000 at her vet clinic, and when I said that it wasn't spent there, she snapped at me and said "let me finish". She went on to say that had I listened to her about the prescription food my dog would have had better bloodwork sooner (not verbatim, but whatever), educated me about diabetes (not in a professional manner), and that she was going to hang up on me because she took the time to speak with me (in between appointments) and when I calmed down I could call back and schedule another appointment. At this point I just hung up, found another vet (closer to home), saw him within the week, and he took one whiff of my dog's breath and said "I can smell it from here." Teeth cleaned/masses removed, and bad breath gone. Also, dental disease will cause poor blood glucose control in diabetic dogs, and I had been waiting since March to get her treated. It was finally done in June, by another vet. So, my dog had horrible dental problems for almost three months. I personally feel that the delays from Dr. Jones trying to resolve one issue, was causing my dog more harm and discomfort. I also had to get prescriptions refilled for my other senior dog that is seen by Dr. Bevan. When Costco called for the refill, it was denied. I had to speak with the receptionist that told me that she didn't know what had happened, but because the new vet contacted them for my one dog's records ( I have three dogs) they didn't approve the meds for my other dog! I had to explain that my one dog needed emergency dental surgery, and my other dog was seen by Dr. Bevan! I had plans to continue to see Dr. Bevan, but after that, forget it. Thankfully, her medication was filled. Also, they didn't update my do

I had been coming here off and on for over 6 years. haven't had anything terribly serious happen to my dog Jack (110lb German Shepherd and a wonderful pup), until yesterday. I had made an appointment for 11:30am 3 days prior (their only availability, and my pup didnt have anything going on symptom wise except a little diarrhea and what seemed like a sting or bite of some sort from a bug. yesterday morning we woke up to get ready to head to Southgate, and not only was there diarrhea everywhere on our large area rugs (first time in six years hes pooped inside, poor guy) and Jacks condition had worsened tremendously. he was visibly unwell, anxious, angry, not himself, and it was clear we needed to get him there ASAP.
While trying to get out of our house, my girlfriends top heavy dresser fell on her, damaging her titanium wrist area, and both knees; thankfully she avoided serious injury, and we still managed to make it out around 10-15 minutes behind.
My girlfriend called South Gate and we were told there is absolutely no way we could be seen. we pleaded about Jack's condition with grace and were never angry until they began rushing us off the phone and telling me there is absolutely noyhing to be done for my incredibly sick 8 year old GSD, who they've seen and known for over 5 years, try and find an appointment elsewhere. My girlfriend was told to kick rocks, in laymans terms.
I then called them back to get my records transfered after @Padonia Animal Hospital graciously made room in their schedule for Jack to come in a few hours later. The receptionist who I spoke to, once realizing we were calling back, and again pleading my case, but this time for her just to simply send over my pets records. She started chuckling and laughing at us and our plight. She quickly realized that went over about as unwell as it could have. I was too angry and focused on getting Jack another hour away, when my girlfriend ends up speaking to the Vet on duty, Dr. Davis, attempting to get some sort of solution. She was stonewalled of course.
Hell hath no fury....
she was on all the clinics social media platforms shouting about the unfair treatment we received from South Gate. and how they put my Jack at risk by not being able to accommodate 15 minutes for my boy? The samr Dr. Davis found it in her scheduling constraints to comment back on multiple posts, deleting facebook comments, and blocking my girlfriend, the same day she didn't have the time to see a sick dog. Some backended bullshit, for lack or a better term.
Jack ended up having what may be pancreatitis, or a very bad bacterial infection. They ran xrays, blood tests, fecal tests, etc. not a good day for me, but honestly all for the best. I'll never step foot in that hole again, good riddance South Gate. be better.

Hospital At Southgate Noah Hart Shefrin s dog Jackson has been sick this past week. Diarrhea for days and a mass under his jaw. We had an appointment for 11:30 today. As I was getting dressed to leave I suppose I had too many drawers open and this solid oak dresser feel over injuring my wrist that has titanium and my knees. We immediately called the vet and said that we would be running 15 minutes late just enough time to get some ice together and take some Tylenol. I'm foregoing any exam in order to get Jackson seen first. The vet, last name Jones refused to allow us to be 15 minutes late no matter the reason. Noah has used this vet for over 6 years and has recommended them to friends and family. Thank God my vet Padonia Veterinary Hospital is making space for Jackson to be seen today at 2pm. But it gets worse... when we called Southgate back to request that they send over Jackson's records the receptionist literally chuckled when Noah mentioned how absurd it is that they are refusing to see him. She was giggling, irritated and aggressive "It's not like it's punitive I mean come on" ...I get it vets are busy. But I provided child care for a baby last year and her mom is a vet. She regularly called to let me know that she was running late because an appointment ran late and I was okay with that. I'm affiliated with multiple animal sanctuaries and I'll be notifying them all of the horrible interaction we had today...I mean laughing at us? That's too much. I'm not a Karen. I actually go out of my way to leave positive feedback as often as possible. If you use Southgate vet please consider changing providers. I know it's alot but next time it could be your pet. And if you do change providers feel free to let them know you're doing it for Jackson.

First time being here with my cat Mickey. I just want to thank you all for the way you treated us with my cat passing away. I have never experienced such a trustworthy veterinary in my life. All the staff was so sweet and caring. I wish I met you all on a different experience with the way you took great care of Mickey.
I recommend this veterinarian for all pets.
Thank you so much for being patient and caring to our family. I appreciate everything you’ve done for us to make it easier on Mickey crossing over the rainbow bridge. Thank you with all my heart!

My cats have received exemplary care at the Animal Hospital at Southgate for more than a dozen years. Drs. Alexander and Jones and the staff are thorough in both ensuring the wellness of their patients and providing explanations and solutions for various health concerns. Everyone at the hospital was full of compassion and empathy when it was time for me to say goodbye to my 19-year-old cat earlier this year. The people here are deeply invested in the animals in their care, and I can't recommend the Animal Hospital at Southgate enough.

Dr Alexander and her team would get 10 Stars if it was available. I inherited a cat that at the time I did not know he had some serious health problems and was a pretty sick little guy. I'm happy to say now he's been happy and healthy do to the healthcare plan and special diet put together by Dr Alexander. Her team from the girls in the back who treat Mikey like a King to the receptionist who has always been nice and helpful on every visit do a great job. I highly recommend Animal Hospital at Southgate.
