Update October 2023: Your map shows the WRONG LOCATION for Hartge Yacht Yard. It was at the location shown for decades and decades, but around 20 years ago or so the owner of the business, Alex Schlegel and his wife Donna (née Hartge) parted company with family members who owned the property, and moved the business to Tenthouse Creek. The location shown on the current Google maps has been home, since then, to a different business, named Hartge Yacht Haven. Easy to get confused but they are completely different businesses, different owners and different management, different services. My earlier review, below, refers to the Yard, not the Haven.Tops for service, maintenance and repair. I kept my Morgan 34 at their former location for about 20 years, and was always more than satisfied with their work. Since moving a bit south I haven't been around Galesville much but kept in touch with Luke Frey. Two years ago I had an engine emergency on my Sabre 38 in the West River, so got a tow to their new location where of course Luke took excellent care of me. They are skilled and they are honest -- can't be beat.

Had a great experience with the service department, particularly service manager, Luke Frey. I had a last minute issue with my tachometer, and, even though it is their really busy season, Luke and his team fixed it in short order. Great outfit!

Exceptional craftsmanship.
I’ve used yards a lot around Maryland for last 20+ years and Hartge’s provides the best service.
They do everything right, and make it right. They also do what they say and say what the do.
They’ve been caring for our 40 year old lobster boat for the past several years and she’s in exceptional shape, we took her to Martha’s Vineyard and back.

I had been plagued with generator issues from March thru September. I knew of Hartge Yacht Yard 's and service manager Luke Frey' s great reputation. And they did not disappoint. I just wish I had brought my boat to them much earlier in the season so I could have gotten a lot more boating in. I couldn't be happier with their workmanship, professionalism or care of my vessel. They have just acquired me as a new and loyal customer. I will be back, Hartge!

Top notch experience. I kept my sailboat with HYY over the winter for storage, winterization and various other projects. Luke Frey, Service Manager is a pleasure to work with and very helpful. I loved that HYY also provided best in class guidance on what projects to complete now and others that can wait for a later time...

Exceptional Yacht yard. Do not confuse them with Hartge’s Yacht harbor (old yard, new management). The staff at HYY are true artisans and artists. Many have been with the management of decades. I have used a number of mid-Chesapeake yards since the 1980s, and after painful trial and error, HHY gained my gratitude and loyalty. Examples of their commitment to excellence are below:1) brought my 1961 Boston Whaler to them with transom rot concerns. They gave me an estimate over the phone for significant amount of repair work. When they actually got the boat they determined the transom was fine, saving me thousands. Four years later she’s doing great.2) quoted me for Awlgrip repair, but when they discovered the repair was more involved (previous yard issue) and damaged fiberglass lay underneath they made it right both financially and from a workmanship perspective.3) I thought my dorade box needed refastening, turns out it needed to be completely rebuilt. They rebuilt it as a gift, and Peany left a note detailing the workmanship.4) our 40 year old lobster boat had a leak in the keel. A previous yard had done a repair there & HYY found the previous yard had glassed over (with 1 layer) the hole without doing any prep work. The old yard didn’t even remove the bottom paint before glassing. No wonder it still leaked. HYY made it right.Great communication too.

We are in Fort Pierce Florida. Their technician, Michael, who works out if this area did an excellent job for us. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a good and honest technician.

Easy to access from Annapolis. Management is lacking in attention to detail. Beware.
