They do not clear up the doubts that one has, when filling out the application there are many gaps, and when asking why the application was rejected, they do not have an answer, only that it is denied and that's it, apart from the fact that they respond very poorly to what one reads as a question, I believe that having paid to apply gives us the right to know.

I want to give my 5 stars to Josephine Hernandez not to this place really or the management cuz that’s another story sadly not the best but she’s been the most helpful person that I ever had the pressure to meet in this leasing office. She was very responsive and helpful to me. Even with her current health situation she doing the best that she can. I went this evening around 2:00 PM and she was by herself helping out the people that were there. So thanks so very much for your help Miss Josephine H. I’m glad that a least somebody there is helping the people in this community. And to the management you should try to do better and help more the residents since that’s the reason why you guys are there.

In these pictures you can see mice poop, a roach, other bugs. Mind you, I have been here for less than a month and already put two pest control requests, which clearly aren’t solving anything . Today was the last straw. Imagine getting home after a 12 hour shift and the first thing you see when you turn on the lights it’s a roach in your kitchen sink, right after that I go to my bedroom and a mouse goes under my bed. THATS DISGUSTING. This place is infested. Do something about it. Too many reviews about the same thing. Change your pest control methods, do something. It’s frustrating to live like that. You can’t leave anything on top of the counter, or anything anywhere because clearly bugs are crawling over everything. ??

Someone kept closing the request.
The issue hasn’t been resolved.

I arrived for my 9am guided tour (I scheduled online for this time) and waited for 30 minutes outside for someone to open the door. After finally getting inside, I waited for another 10 minutes without being helped. When I inquired, the lady informed me that I would have to wait longer as no one was available to give a tour. This is unacceptable as the place had just opened at 9am and I was the first person there with appointment on top of that. Their unprofessionalism is very disappointing.

I changed my reviews
We apply the apartments and got approved,
4days prior to move in date they call us on Friday evening and said the room not available because the person decided not to move out.
How is that possible.?they offered us another room but she didn’t know how much is for one month. She said she will call us back on Monday, she never call us back till now…
What is going on here??????

When I first moved in, my leasing agent was Melody and with the help of Josephine when Melody was not available, they provided outstanding service. Their kindness, helpfulness, and wealth of information made me eager to live here. However, my experience has since taken a downturn.
Despite it being July, the pools are neither serviced nor open, which is quite disappointing. Additionally, the gym is only accessible during business hours, which is inconvenient for many residents with varying schedules.
The property manager, unfortunately, is unapproachable and condescending. She communicates in a way that is patronizing, as if residents are incapable of understanding her. Overall, she lacks the people skills necessary for her role.
Adding to the frustration, I have submitted numerous maintenance requests for a broken AC unit that has been out of service for over three weeks, with no resolution in sight. This prolonged delay is unacceptable and significantly impacts the quality of living here.
What started as a promising experience due to excellent leasing agents has been overshadowed by these significant issues.

I have had a very bad experience with the manager of these apartments named Monique. He is a racist and discriminatory person with the Hispanic race. He didn't allow someone to give me assistance in Spanish, he said that I had to know how to speak English to get there. I can't believe that someone so derogatory can work in customer service being such a bad racist person, we are all human beings and we have the same rights and we deserve respect. Money is worth the same for anyone who can pay. It doesn't matter color or race. We are worth the same. I hope they do something about it with this person. Named Monique. ???I don't recommend living in these apartments, all the staff is very bad, they don't want to help people to work there then..

I am a resident of Gateway and I have noticed poor customer service from some of the team members. I understand that the maintenance team is short-staffed, but I wonder why no one wants to come and work for Gateway. I'm sure they see the negative reviews. I have been trying to communicate with Rashida for months and have not heard back. Her responses are short and do not provide the answer I am looking for. On July 4th, I assumed the office was open because no email was sent out to the residents. When I went to the office and entered the main doors foyer area, I found that a lock had been put on the usually open double doors in the lobby area. I knocked and got ignored by the lady with the blonde braids. A few minutes later, Melody was told not to open the doors, and there was a disagreement about leaving the door closed. I just want to say thank you to Melody and Israel for their excellent customer service. We need more office staff like you both. :(:(

I just recently moved out of The Gateway (previously Jefferson at Orchard Pond) after living there for over a decade. In the past 10 years, I've seen three different management companies running the complex, so there have been a variety of changes over the years - some for the better and some for the worse. Overall, though, it was a lovely place to call home despite its occasional downsides, and I wanted to take a moment to share my thoughts on it.
I'm very much not going to claim that the complex is perfect. No complex is, and this one definitely has its weaknesses at times. Considering the whole point of this review is to try to be as honest as possible for people who want more information, I'm going to cover the positives as well as the negatives.
Maintenance tends to be a weak point at The Gateway when it's a more minor issue and not a flat out emergency. They'll get to it eventually, but major problems get priority, so having a bit of a DIY mentality for smaller fixes goes a long way. I often found it easier to fix smaller issues myself than wait for maintenance to get around to it.
I know that a lot of people have said in reviews that they've had issues with bugs or mice, but I can say that in the 10+ years I lived in this complex that has never been an issue for me. It could just be that I've been lucky, or that my cats kept the pests away, but that's not something I experienced in my apartment save for the occasional ants in the spring that disappeared after a quick spray from pest control.
The walls/ceilings are definitely thin. I heard my upstairs neighbors walking around regularly, and if the next door neighbors or downstairs neighbors were raising their voices, I could usually hear every word of their arguments. That's not unusual in an apartment building, especially an older one like this, but it's something to keep in mind.
In the past, the complex has struggled with communication, although they're getting better on that front. Sometimes they send out emails where it's difficult to tell if they're aimed at just you or if they're a community-wide message, and there are occasionally some grammatical errors in their messages that make them difficult to understand. They also do sometimes forget to give advance notice for things that really need it, such as building-wide repair work that was scheduled in advance and isn't an emergency. As I said, though, there's been significant improvement on that front over the past six months or so.
I will add that the current owners have moved pretty much all communication to their website and app, which wasn't an issue for me, but I know some of my older neighbors who were less computer savvy had a lot of problems because of it. While I understand trying to push as much as possible online nowadays, it does cause some issues when you don't have any alternatives for people living in the complex who don't have easy access to computers or who aren't as well-versed in technology.
The complex itself is very conveniently located. If you drive, 270 is just a few minutes away as are a number of other major roads. If you don't drive, there are several buses that pick up nearby going pretty much anywhere you might want to go except Rio (which you can still get to if you're willing to make a transfer), and there are direct routes to both Shady Grove and Rockville metro stations. There are several grocery stores within walking distance as well as a number of restaurants and bars.
On a more personal note, I wanted to take a moment to give both Monique (community manager) and Rosy (assistant community manager) a shout out. There was a lot of chaos when I moved out recently due to the people who were supposed to help having to bow out due to COVID, and they were both very patient with me taking longer than expected to get everything

Rashida was wonderful in the process of my transfer. I am going onto my 3rd year here and ever since she started, it has been such a pleasure. She made my move in as easy as can be! She was insightful, had the answers to any and every question I had. She even saw that phone was low on battery and offered to charge it for me! Truly the best customer service experience ever!
