In need of a tax preparation service I turned to yelp reviews. The reviews on both yelp and google were very good. Visited the MARYLAND TAX SERVICE INC. website and everything was organized and thorough. Contacted the owner Travis Funkhouser and he got back to me right away. Arranged a meeting at his home office with my wife, and both of us walked away very confident in Travis’s ability to prepare our taxes professionally at a fair price. The efficiency, communication, and attitude of this small business met and exceeded our expectations. Would highly recommend.

Travis was a great help to me. I've started to get really disorganized, especially since the pandemic, and he was patient with that--which I very much appreciated. Also, he found literally thousands of dollars' worth of deductions that I wouldn't have identified on my own. When I think of how much money I "made" through using his service, it's really quite amazing. From a financial point of view, the Maryland Tax Service is the best thing that has happened to me for years. Next year, I will be better organized, and I will definitely be working with Mr. Funkhouser again.

I would give 6 stars if it was possible, I don't write reviews on this platform ever. Travis his been working with me every tax season for the last 3 years and I have nothing but high praises for him. He is quick to answer, experienced in this field and very personable. I highly recommend him to everybody in the area!

My husband and I used Maryland Tax Service for our taxes the past two years, and we couldn't recommend Travis more highly. Our compliments are many; We've appreciated how responsive he is to our questions, his attention to detail in catching things we could have otherwise missed, his easy systems for collecting our docs, and his efficiency in completing our returns. Travis emailed me back within a matter of hours, and actually called me directly later that same day to discuss my tax needs. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and asked thoughtful questions about my business plans and tax requirements. His rates are very reasonable, and he publishes those rates on his website for transparency. I would normally wait until I've had a longer-term experience with a business before leaving a review, but I've had such a great "new client" experience that I just had to leave a review now.

FINALLY found my new tax guy! Pros: -Fast, friendly, and professional responses -Trustworthy and reliable -Reasonable quote and pricing -Flexible appointment times -Very knowledgeable and didn't make the tax talk to difficult. I actually understood what he was talking about. LOL -Offers great advice all year round Cons: -Jealous of his beautiful neighborhood and in home office Will see Travis again for all my tax related doings!

I was looking for someone to do my taxes and got a referral from someone on Next door about Travis Funkhouser. I checked out his website and found his prices listed to complete each part of my tax return. I called and left a message and he called back promptly. We spoke about what I needed done; a pretty simple return which he files electronically. It all sounded good after confirming prices on his site were up to date, I made an appointment for a week later & brought everything with me. In just less than an hour my taxes were done. He had some tax saving tips as well. He charges a very fair price and his work was good. I recommend him and look forward to having him do my return next year.
