Have gone there for 20 years, but the change in ownership in the practice has not been for the better. The wait for an appointment is huge (like several months). When I finally did get an appointment for my elderly cat who could no longer eat hard treats (she loved) or even any chunked or shredded meat (only pate and soupy treats), I was told there was "nothing" wrong with her teeth or mouth. Only 4 months later at an appointment with her regular vet, I was told she exhibited extreme tenderness on the right side of her mouth and had an abscessed tooth that needed to be removed! And you can call and call and not get your phone call answered during business hours--just a busy signal.

This place is one of the only places around to specialize in animal dentistry, so, again, there isn't that much of a choice. They were highly recommended by our vet, and they were purported to take less time to reduce the anesthesia impact on my little love here. They were very professional and let me know before they started what they believed would be best, and they let me decide. When my darling angel was ready to be picked up, they let me know- after a few hours of their supervision and oversight post-surgery. When I picked up my darling, it wasn't a surprise at the price tag, but, it is very steep. They do a great job informing you of all the steps along the way and about all the mediations and side effects, as well as healing time and expectations for the next few hours, days and coming weeks. I would expect nothing less for the price of the surgery. They called the same night to check in and when I returned their call the next day with concerns, they said to come back asap. The check-up was a courtesy and no charge, but more meds were needed, and of course that was charged. My little darling kitty healed up pretty well, but when there are so many extractions, it's hard to say how quality of life would have been either way... but, it does seem like he is doing better, happier and more peaceful. The one thing I was not happy about was they had some disposable blanket thing with him in his crate. I assume that's where he was the whole time they were observing him for several hours, and I get why that makes sense, but that doesn't make me happy. All in all, excellent, professional dentistry, and the price tag reflects it, too.

Very highly recommend this practice! My cat needed all his teeth removed due to an underlying condition and had this procedure done about a week ago. I was very nervous and all the doctors and staff were incredibly kind and helpful in the days leading up to surgery and the day of. They are very responsive and compassionate. I can tell they genuinely care about their patients based on the fact that they followed up multiple times to see how my cat was doing post-surgery. Most importantly, the surgery went very well and my cat is healing beautifully! Thank you to the entire staff!

The staff were very friendly, seemed very knowledgeable and available, gave great updates with pictures. My dog had 21 teeth removed, went home with good medicine and healed well. Called a couple times to check on him. Only gripe I have is that it was super expensive.

Dr. Smith costs a little more than your local veterinarian for a cleaning, but you will get much more. A Vet can only clean and extract teeth where Dr. Smith can save teethe with fillings and other surgical dental practices along with applying a number of restorative and preventative non-surgical treatments. He is also a fully certified surgeon providing an even greater safety marging for your pet if comlications arise. Add to that he and his stafff are great people.

Absolutely 5 stars! My 9 year old yorkie had to get 22 teeth removed and bone grafting. It was scary to hear but Dr. Taney put me at ease. Her bedside manner is caring and calming. She and Dr. Goins were so kind and patient with all my questions. The entire team was awesome. My dog recovered extremely well and in these past two weeks, she never had an issue. She was almost back to normal within 4 days. She did so well that I didn't have to use all of her pain meds. We still have 9 pills left. Take your pet here and I promise you that you'll thank me later.

Our veterinarian referred us to the Center for Veterinary Dentistry and Oral Surgery for our 14-1/2 year poodle mix, Lulu. Lulu has a number of medical issues and our vet was certain she needs some serious dental work but felt the Center would be better equipped to handle her complicated case. Making an appointment was easy and the receptionist was so pleasant. I filled in the on-line form and did receive a call a few days later so they could get some more information. I made sure that they knew I wanted a consultation only as I wasn't sure I wanted to put Lulu through surgery at her age. Parking was easy and as requested we called to say we had arrived. They were ready for us and told us we could come right into the office. We went straight into an examining room and after a very brief wait met Dr. Taney. She examined Lulu and noted she has bone loss, loose teeth and excess tartar, but she won't know how extensive surgery will be until she starts the procedure. I expressed my concerns about Lulu's age and medical complications and Dr. Taney assured me that most of her patients were small, elderly pets with multiple issues. She asked if Lulu sees a cardiologist and I said yes, she actually has an upcoming appointment. We agreed I would schedule Lulu's surgery after her cardiology appointment and discuss it with her cardiologist. If he give the go ahead, we'll proceed and, of course if he says no we'll cancel. We have Lulu's surgery scheduled for March and I feel so much more comfortable and reassured after meeting and talking to Dr. Taney. She gave us the low and high estimates of the cost of surgery with details of the precautions they take during the procedure and after care to keep Lulu comfortable. I'm sorry sweet Lulu needs this but I am happy that she is in such good, competent hands.

Our vet diagnosed our kitten with stomatitis, a condition which causes inflammation of the gums, leading to long-term pain and discomfort. The best treatment for this condition is removal of all teeth. While this was an initially-shocking diagnosis for us, especially as our kitten hadn't demonstrated any outward symptoms, our vet recommended this clinic for her treatment, noting this is where he would bring his own pets if they needed surgery. As this is an extensive surgery, we were able to get an appointment for a couple months after our initial call. We were able to fill out relevant paperwork online ahead of time and received all the details we would need to know for preparation for the surgery. I was also able to call to get a ballpark figure for pricing, as I knew we would need it. (It ended up being very close to what we ended up paying.) The morning of the procedure, I arrived to the designated parking lot spaces and called the number. While they initially could not find our appointment, I was able to share my confirmation details. They apologized for the scheduling error, as they recently had some changeover with employees. They thoroughly explained everything they would be doing during the procedure. After a few hours, I received an update that the kitten was doing well and in recovery. When she was ready for pickup, the doctor went over all the results and expectations for aftercare. The best part was that I didn't need to administer any additional medications at home, since they had selected extended-release prescriptions. When we got home, you would have no idea that the kitten had all her teeth removed, since she was absolutely loopy! It was pretty cute. Over the next few days, she recovered well and we headed back for a follow-up a few weeks later. (This was included with the initial cost of the original procedure.) Our kitten was given a clean bill of health and lives a totally normal life now, as it's been several months since her surgery. We were very pleased with the process, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this clinic for complex or invasive surgical procedures.

My kitty that had stomatitis had to get a full mouth extraction. My vet recommended this place and although pricey it’s worth every penny with how well the staff handles everything from your first phone call! They got records they helped me with any questions I was having. The doctor I had was great, she dealt with how emotional I was and provided advice and was straight to the point. The techs were great and friendly and loved my Elaina and made her feel at home! It’s been about three weeks, and my fur baby is doing great, she’s even nibbling on her dry food again! Hope you enjoy this photo as much as I do! Thank you guys!! ♥️

Dr. Kendall Taney is an amazing vet dentist. She listens to her pet parent’s concerns and weighs them in her decision making. We called a large number of vet dentists that would not perform the procedure that we not only wanted but needed as a family. Since my dog’s surgery not only do we have peace of mind but my dogs behavior has improved tenfold. I truly appreciate her work and am so grateful that she was able to help us. I can tell she truly has a passion for animals and understands different breeds of dogs. If you are looking for a very professional and quality vet dentist then Dr.Kendall is who you want to go to. Again I am so grateful for her. Thank you.

I can’t say enough positive things about this practice. We were referred here by our vet who we trust very much. Our cat Bear had very inflamed gums and our vet told us there was a good chance we’d need to get some of his teeth pulled. We brought Bear here (they take care of EVERYTHING in one appt, which is amazing) and they did X-Rays, called us and told us they’d likely need to pull 2 teeth, maybe 4, and do a full cleaning treatment. We got the call after his procedure and they determined they didn’t need to pull any teeth, and just treated him, AND did biopsies of the gums to check for underlying diseases. When we picked him up, they had even given him a bath and cleaned him up - we have been through pet surgery before and have never had a vet take that extra step to send them home clean when they can’t control their bodily functions. It meant so much to us. They sent us home with a pain solution that didn’t involve pills because Bear does not let us give him medication, and the doctor called us the same night to check on him. Bear is doing great - eating, purring, and recovering so well. This is a fantastic practice!!!

A Vet with Integrity It seems the longer I live, the more jaded I become. So, when I have an exceptional experience, I feel it's my duty to to share it with others! My 3 year old goldendoodle, Juma, was diagnosed by an urgent care vet with a very serious autoimmune disease which affects the muscles of the head and jaw. He was experiencing pain and wasn't eating or behaving like his normal, happy-go-lucky self. In response to the diagnosis, he was placed on a very high dose of steroids, which caused awful side effects for several weeks. Needless to say, I was devastated; it was excruciating to see my much beloved pup suffering this way. Thankfully, a couple of weeks later, blood tests and an examination by a neurologist revealed Juma did not have this dreaded disease. But the neurologist recommended he see a dentist and undergo a CT scan to rule out other possible issues. I scheduled an appointment for a CT scan at the Center for Veterinary Dentistry and Oral surgery. At this point, I was still very concerned about Juma's health, because the source of the episode that led to his misdiagnosis had not been identified and, still, he was not himself. Enter Dr. Kendall Taney... Dr. Taney was thorough, compassionate, reassuring and just plain incredible! She examined Juma just prior to the scheduled CT scan and explained what we could learn from the type of scan she performs in her practice. After some discussion, she told me about another scan that would be more revealing/beneficial given Juma's particular situation. Dr. Taney explained that this scan is typically performed in large-scale veterinary hospitals. To her financial detriment, Dr. Taney recommended that Juma have this scan. The scan she performs would have been sufficient, but the hospital scan would provide information that would give a broader perspective, providing more confidence over the longterm. Juma's scan was in Dr. Taney's schedule for that day, so time and money were lost on us. Please know that CT scans are not cheap! I felt bad, but Dr. Taney would not let me. She just said "That's what I would do if he were my dog." I felt not the slightest bit of impatience or displeasure on her part. Before I left the office, Dr. Taney told me to have the hospital send the results of the scan to her for review. As I exit, I'm thinking, "Who is this wonderful person?!" :-) She was so kind that I told her I needed to hug her before I left. After everything Juma and I had been through, she was a godsend. When the hospital sent the report summarizing the findings, Dr. Taney went a step further and requested the actual images from the hospital. I guess relying on the hospital's report wasn't good enough for her, or for my Juma. Based on a chat I had with a radiology assistant, I'm pretty sure this isn't typical. And, over the course of this process, Dr. Taney followed up with me several times unprompted; no prodding was necessary to get her to call back, if I reached out to her. She was incredibly responsive and attentive. I sensed that Dr. Taney genuinely cared about Juma's health. She was not hyper-focused on financial gain, but on the best outcome for Juma. Because of her integrity and the quality of care she delivered, I could put Juma's health scare in the rear view mirror, with peace of mind. An impressive array of diplomas and certificates hang in Dr. Taney's exam room. And I did my research; she has qualifications that are not run-of-the-mill. Many times, unfortunately, the level of accomplishment is not commensurate with the level of compassion. But in this case, the decency, kindness and empathy shown were on par, putting Dr. Taney in the category of truly exceptional. I wish there were more vets, no, more human beings like Dr. Kendall Taney. I am so grateful our paths crossed... Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Dr. Taney. You made all who love Juma rest easier.

I am so grateful that I found this dental vet clinic! I swear they saved my little 2lb yorkies Oscar’s life! Please choose a veterinary dentist especially when you have a small pet. Their jaws can easily be broken when not done by a dentist. I spent thousands the last few months trying to figure out what was making my dog throw up and coughing while drinking water. Dr. Taney did the extraction and another doing his anesthesia. They were so careful! I was so scared to have a dental done. Thank god I did! Oscar is back to normal. Dr. Taney also performed a dental on my Pomeranian. II also recommend this clinic over another dental practice in Vienna. Arrogant doctor and they didn’t care that my dog wasn’t quite strong enough for surgery. I wasted my money, but who cares! I also forgot to mention the fabulous Dental students at the practice! The ladies were in charge over here!
