“This is a quirky (and hard to find) used bookstore with an upbeat vibe and lots of unique items for sale besides books...I love the interesting sodas (with cane sugar), local fudge (at the counter), postcards, T-shirts, and vintage prints...the selection of used books and movies seems carefully curated as I have found early editions of novels I could not find elsewhere and favorite old movies I have been surprised to come across. The store layout is maze-like with lots of nooks and crannies. The staff at the counter are friendly and easy going...I like that they have punch cards (but I usually forget mine.) I wouldn't say they have the lowest prices for a used bookstore but their books and movies are in good condition and they have a great collection. So this store is a little difficult to find as it is hidden behind a self storage facility and strip mall along Shady Grove Road. It is easy to miss the narrow driveway that leads to the back of these buildings. But it's also cool that it's not right by a busy street (and there is plenty of parking.)”

“coming from someone who frequents many B&N, the rio branch is by far the BEST one in in the DMV area. Amazing service, staff is incredibly kind and very knowledgeable on books. I even had the pleasure of getting a few recommendations from a kind lady when I visited today. 5/5 experience!”

“If you need books in French, this is the place to come. They have everything from the latest novels to classics to an extensive collection of children's literature. And the proprietess is wonderfully helpful and friendly. But make sure it is open when you plan to come because the hours of operation are somewhat limited.”

“Out of the two nearby “Friends of the Library Bookstore” locations, this one is my favorite! The books here are dirt cheap, the staff are super engaging and kind, and I was even able to put my name down for a book that wasn’t in the bookstore, and I got a text to come buy it once they received a used copy. This whole bookstore is so awesome and I have made several trips to it already. One time my husband and I gifted $20 to each other just for a fun book buying spree, and guess what? We both came out with several books in our hands, all totaling a measly $20! I literally haven’t found any other used bookstore in the area that comes close to these prices so you gotta check out the collection for yourself. The best part of the store is that they have a lot of popular books! Basically, any big name author or book I could think of, I was able to find it. I love this bookstore and its become my go-to used bookstore in MOCO.”

“My son-in-law loves vinyl, so I went there for a gift certificate. It went well. They have a LOT of real records and other stuff (e.g., manga) that I don't know about. Fun, quirky niche place.”

“Great book store with a large selection of Russian books. I’ve actually never seen a Russian book store in the US with this many books! Reasonable prices too, and there’s often quite a bit on sale.”

“I'd give them 5 stars but I've had a few incidents during my last few visits. I put something on hold behind the counter and 15 minutes later nobody knew where it was and there were none left in stock. Also if I go here & see something I like I will definitely purchase it that day because I've had bad luck with finding the same item a day or 2 after. They are good about changes and returns though. The staff is friendly however when Ive requested help finding things they generally are not too helpful.”

“A very delightfully organized Barnes and Noble. It feels very cozy and artistic in how the books are organized, in contrast to some Barnes and Nobles that feel more "grand" and expansive. It has a small cafe area as well that actually is quite large given the otherwise cozy nature of the store. It's park of Congressional Plaza, a large outdoor plaza with many stores, meaning that it has a lot of parking but also the lot can get quite filled up. Connected to a lot of major roads. It was a delight to peruse because of the comfortable way the books were organized, making it actually very walkable too.”
