I highly recommend Mr. Phil's acting class. In my opinion, Mr. Phil is the best acting class teacher in the area, and my son has been taking his classes for almost five years now. What I love about Mr. Phil's teaching is that his lessons are well-structured and tailored to meet the needs of each individual student. He teaches students the ins and outs of acting, including facial expressions, speaking tone, body language, and the emotions of the character, and he does so in a way that allows students to develop their acting skills and not just simply read lines. Moreover, my son and I have had great experiences with the Academy of Fine Arts acting summer camps that Mr. Phil leads. The final show is always amazing, and it's a testament to Mr. Phil's ability to inspire his students and help them bring their best performances to the stage.Overall, if you're looking for a top-notch acting class, I highly recommend Mr. Phil's class. He's an excellent teacher who is dedicated to helping his students succeed in the world of acting.

greatly appreciated that the academy offered virtual classes during the height of the pandemic and have continued to offer online classes for those who want to take them. Also, I had an absolutely marvelous experience with acting under Dawn's and Phil's instruction! I learned SO many new helpful tools in my approach to a script/character that have helped me connect so much more with the material. This is definitely one of the most affordable acting classes in the area, and it's well worth taking whether you're just curious about acting and want to try it out or you're a seasoned actor looking to do continuing education on the craft.

Our experience with the institution is varied. They have some incredible teachers who are really engaged and others that are not. We had Sekulic who was not engaged, on her phone in a virtual setting for Piano. Fortunately, we found another piano teacher who is really engaged and devoted to the arts outside of the academy. There are other nuances with the academy directly related to lack of communication that also contributed to this review.

My almost five year old daughter recently started piano classes and I’m in awe of how much she has already learned! The existing class her age started over a month prior and Hayuru went above and beyond doing multiple one on one sessions to get my daughter caught up so she could join the group class. I was hesitant about the class being virtual, but it became a blessing in disguise being able to become familiar with our piano at home and not having to travel for classes. Classes are age appropriate, engaging, and most importantly fun for both my daughter and I. Give them a try!

It must be rare to get a 25 year followup, but my son and I took piano lessons at the Academy of Fine Arts back when in the 90's it was first started and the instruction was terrific. They say that music education can improve children's ability at math and science and my son went onto a full scholarship at the University of Maryland and he's now a physicist at Stanford University in California. Music is still a big part of his life as he plays 3 instruments. It is great to know that Phil Hosford and Hayuru Taima are still educating new generations of kids in music and that their school has grown. I strongly recommend this school as it played an extremely important role in our family in music and was an enjoyable and educational experience!

My kids learn piano with Ms. Sparrow and Ms. Ducan, and guitar with Mr. Ellis. I believe that they love music and enjoy every practicing time because they have been inspired and taught by these wonderful instructors. The teachers not only have wide experience but also have great skills for different ages of the kids.

My kids have been going to the Academy to learn Piano for over 10 years and we have had wonderful experience. Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Hayuru, and Mrs. Muradyan are all great teachers who give excellent music lessons. I very much recommend Academy of Fine Arts for learning music.

My son took group piano lessons at Academy for the past 3 years and we really enjoyed the experience. The teachers and staff are very friendly and supportive, the small class size makes it possible for group interaction and friendly competition among the kids, the best part is parent participation during the class. The frequent in class recital and the more formal recital at the end of each semester are additional highlights. Overall, I highly recommend Academy for kids who like group setting to get into piano.

We really appreciate the instructor at The Academy of Fine Arts. My son has been taking group lesson since 4.5 years old. He's been enjoying playing piano, gaining confidence, and participating in several recitals. We also love that parents get the chance to learn with kids at the same time too. This is really help to support my son and his enthusiasm for the lessons.

We have been very happy with the group piano classes here. The teachers are wonderful and they actually teach the fundamentals of music, not just how to play songs. Even during the Covid pandemic, on Zoom, Ms Megan has given us a sense of normalcy, motivation and enthusiasm, and we are very appreciative. I highly recommend the Academy for good instruction and warm, caring teachers!

Leslie Smiles is a really wonderful violin teacher and a very nice person. She is good with children and adults and clearly loves what she does. She is well-organized, is constantly organizing recitals and concert opportunities for the kids to perform and does it all in a very professional and friendly manner. I am an adult and have been taking lessons with her for two years and she is very patient and positive. I have never seen her have an "off" day. I highly recommend her.
