Kate and her team provide excellent service, are full of knowledge, carry some of the best natural and healthy foods on the market, and really care about each pet and customer that walk through those doors. I switched my dogs to Steve's Real Food raw this past year and it's been such a blessing to be able to access and buy it locally. My dogs love coming into the store to pick up their food, treats, and toys! Next time you are visiting Old Ellicott City, you should stop in for some awesome pet goodies!”

The cat was stressed in her carrier and had an accident... was bad, and I felt embarrassed. But the team made me feel so much better. “First time here today and I can say I absolutely loved it! Caitlin groomed my 6 year old yorkie and he looks AMAZING she listened to everything I said and gave her opinion and I went with it and boy am I so pleased! He looks absolutely great and he seemed so happy! Will definitely be coming back every 6-8 weeks! Was soo reasonably priced I was seriously shocked. “Excellent selection of craft beer and good wine selection as well. Shop is local, convenient and crowded with selection. Stopped in for beer and left with 3 six packs of local craft beer I had not yet tried and a Belgian as well. Throw in a pretty good bottle of wine and I was set. There was also a wine tasting/sampling when I was there. I will be back.”

“i’ve been shopping here for two years for all of my guinea pig essentials. the employees are so friendly and knowledgeable about both the animals and the products. i also really appreciate their ethical adoption policies, and have adopted two of my boys from them. a few months ago when i was running low on pellets and they didn’t have any in stock, they took down my information and contacted me when they received them in a shipment so i could buy them as soon as possible. the prices for quality and credible brands are much more affordable than even chain stores (not to mention the questionable ethics and lack of care chains all seem to have). i cannot express enough contentment with my experience with today’s pet, and i never want to go anywhere else for my pet needs. shop local!”

I have had the occasional hiccup here (such as an employee closing the store 15 mins early) and you MUST check the berries before buying as they are prone to mold, but other than that no big complaints. I really wish people would stop stealing the carts, as they always seem to have only a few of the small two-basket carts. Which they'd offer baskets as well. Note that you'll have to bag everything yourself.”

“I felt compelled to leave a review for Jaidah after seeing the latest review regarding her customer service. I brought my mother's dog in this past week and had a wonderful experience with her that I'd like to share. My mother's dog is 12 years old and has a few medical concerns that we were sure to discuss with Jaidah during the check-in. There was nothing major, just some arthritis and a bad back (old age stuff), but Jaidah was reassuring and kind- she even showed me some of the tools she can use to make the grooming experience more comfortable. During our chat, Jaidah shared that she was certified in animal care and had some experience working in a vet office. She also shared that she had a senior dog of her own and could empathize with our concerns. It was so comforting to us (especially my mother when I called her and let her know how great Jaidah was going to be). The groom was done in a timely manner and looked fantastic! I promised to book with her again in the near future. Jaidah was professional, easy to talk to, and took great care of my mother's dog. The gentleman (Mitch G.) also had his dog groomed by Brittany in the past (as did we), and likely received a phone call similar to the one my mother received about Brittany leaving the store. My mother was disappointed, but raved about how sweet, understanding and accommodating Jaidah was in making that call. It's our opinion that while she is certainly working hard, she doesn't strike us as "overworked." Her salon is short staffed and she seems to be doing a great job managing on her own. Furthermore, as mentioned before, I can understand why she discusses medical concerns at check in- simply because she cares and wants to make the dogs' experience as comfortable as possible! That should ultimately be every pet owner's primary concern. Perhaps the medical concern noted by Mitch G. was one that required additional care that she could/could not accommodate- either way, it's important for her to ask those things and I'm confident Jaidah would do her best to help like she did for us. Thank you, Jaidah, for providing the type of customer service we should all hope to receive.”

“I was surprised to see so many poor reviews for Highland and noticed most of the reviews are quite old. I have been taking my dog to Highland for many years now and they have been wonderful with him. Now he's old and a little cranky and has skin issues, but they are great with him and he always comes home after a grooming looking fresh and adorable. Walter at the front desk is always great, and they are very organized and efficient. Been very pleased with them.”
