Great place to go and eat, drink and socialize.I wasn't crazy about paying $20 to get in for St Patty's day. Don't understand why they would do that if we r coming in and spending more money. $20 on top of a $50 bill. Just doesn't sit well and then lowered it to $10 when people would turn around for not wanting to pay the $20 lol. It's a side hustle to be honest

Looney's in Maple Lawn is probably the only true bar in the vicinity, at least when you think of a prototypical Maryland bar. It's fine for what it is, and I really don't have many complaints about the food or service. Yes, we have the odd experience where either food or drinks take too long or our server goes missing for a while, but these are exceptions, not the rule. My biggest complaint is how LOUD it gets, even during off hours. If management is reading these, I kindly ask that you turn the volume down when not in prime bar hours (like weekday lunch time). Otherwise, it's a sports / music / Maryland bar, and it fits exactly as it needs to.

FEBRUARY 16, 2024. After paying a admission fee and ordering drinks, I was accosted by two staff security guards and was escorted out of the establishment. The why for this has never been answered. The police were called. I tried to speak to the manager...his response "DO NOT CALL HERE ANYMORE". Oh, I'm African American. What year is this...1923?

Okay, this one was my fault. I did not follow my first rule of checking the beer list first. And, to be even more fair, on one part of their website, they do call themselves "An Irish sports bar." So, it's two stars instead of one as these two things alone should have kept me out. But a friend wanted to go, so I went. The place is decked out for St Patrick's Day and looks very festive, so I had some positive vibes at first. They quickly disappeared when I was told they did not have Kilkenny or Harp. So I thought I would settle for Smithwicks. It turned out to be a no go as there was some type of cask problem. I settled for water (and a Milker Lite-I know, even more water) and ordered Fish and Chips. It came out as soggy pieces of cod accompanied by sad, skinny fries. I ate it knowing there were other places in Columbia which offered the same thing but a much better quality. The server was courteous and apologetic for the beer issue. In summary, this is an American sports bar, nothing really Irish about it. I left knowing I wouldn't be back but also knowing that for those who like IPAs and sports, this is a good place to go.
