The curator, Doris, is great! She's a gem. She explained all the art we asked about, she knows the peoples & places who created it, any symbolisms, the meaning of the art to the African culture who created it, it's a treasure chest of African art here in Columbia!

This Museum is a nice little hidden gem here in Howard County. I discovered it last year completely by chance and am so glad that I did. The museum itself is quite small and cozy which for me is a bonus. Since there isn't an endless array of pieces, you can really take your time to view and learn about each individual artwork and it's significance. The owner/curator is an incredible orator and one of the most inspirational people i've ever met... It's really a fantastic little spot and I can't wait to visit again soon!

I visited this museum in order to find an object to write about for class. The founder was kind enough to give me a little tour since labels have not been put up yet at the time. It is a small space but there are many different kinds of African art inside and I would recommend coming here if you are interested in learning. Friendly people, good collection.

Loved this place so much. Very small yet informative! Great staff! It's easy to miss because it's kind of tucked away in a shopping center parking lot. There was so much to learn. So many cool things. I would go again!

Museum still closed, never moved, appears abandoned. The previously beautifully tended garden is overgrown with tall weeds. Please reopen the museum.

Great collection of authentic old tribal African items collected personally by the Founder, a woman of great commitment and dedication, now over 80. She gives tours of the pieces in this modest space. Presentations to groups including school visits can be arranged. They don't have funds to expand but it's a wonderful exhibit. The collection has little signage on the displays so call ahead to get the tour! Big free parking lot.

I am so thankful that we sought out this fabulous little museum. Yes, it is small, but the amazing pieces inside are not to be missed (ask about the mask, and watch the video clip of the dancing). The lovely woman that runs this little gem has been doing so for decades, she is a wealth of information; clearly this has been a labor of love for her. While there, a family group came in with several children, and immediately she was showing the kids around, sharing her knowledge and appreciation for the art. I was told that the museum will be relocating soon, so perhaps a call first is in order.
